Nice to here there still catching a few fish. thanks for the report Terry. Im stuck at work this weekend. wont be any fishing untill the 3rd week of July. -
Kalamazoo would be fine as I am halfway between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo within 5 mi of 131. Most people know Martin for the 131 Drag strip.

I am looking at the future for the silver one and two things I want to do as the boat is at the 20yr mark. 1 have the whole boat repainted as it still looks good but would look better with a fresh coat of paint. and 2 A new style Bimini top. I have an excellent canvas guy so the top is no question on who. However I have been searching for a place somewhat close to home that does good work for a fair price to do the painting. Notice I did not say cheap. I will pay a good price if the work is good. You get what you pay for. so I would appreciate some feedback from anyone who has any info

Nice Terry I was out Sat doing the salmon thing and ended up 1 for 1. Little rough to go out to were I wanted to be and ended up fishing 60 to 105 feet. Marked fish but no takers. wanted to perch fish but could not anchor up and stay in one spot due to the waves. Ended up pulling the boat home after being in for 7 weeks, What a mess. I have some serious scrubbbing to do. -
Sat 6/14 Late report out of SouthHaven for sat the 14th going 7 for 15 netting 5 small kings,1 laker and 1 steelhead. Fullcore with spoons were the best set up with bloodynose and jawbreaker catching 4 of the kings. riggers with spoons and flasher/flys ccaught 1 king and one laker and halfcore on the steelhead. alot of 3 riggers trips and fish gone at first. Shortened up the leads and finally got hooked up on the riggers. Riggers were blue dolphin and and kovorkian. good flasher set up was spindoctor G/W with key lime actionfly. Had trips down 80,78,65,62. Started in 80' did not get our first fish untill we hit 140. kept on the Northwest troll and found good schools 180 with some good bait balls on the bottom. Marked fish in the 100 to 110 mark but no takers. Good action but alot of current I bleive cost us a few fish on the riggers along with more then likely there were alot of small fish there. All were under 8lb as small as 2lb. Started at 8.00am pulled lines at 11.00am.

What I really could have used is a boat that can handle 6 to 10 footers. this has been my nevises the last two years. -
its a great lake for specs. In my opinion the one of if not they best in sw michigan. During the summer gets pretty suicdial out there with all of the vacationers from chicago. 65% of the cottages out there are owned by vacationers from the illinois area. I use to run my own business (Gun Lake Electric) as i live 5 min from the lake and most of my work was in the summer. Winter was dead. depending on time and dates I might be interseted in that with my 11 yr old.

Yes they do and its even better when the wify offers to cook them. I almost wish that sometimes that is all I could catch just for the grill. Good job on your catch as well jason. -
Took the "Just Duckin one" ( camo duck boat) out on gun lake friday evening with my daughter and son and put 26 nice specs in the fish basket. Robbins bay,18' of water. Kids were fishing emerald shinners with approx 10' down with slip bobbers. I was fishing a 1/64 oz jig black with white and pink eye with a smoke color twister tail grub tipped with a wax worm. average size was around 14'' with my boy landing a 17.5 nice mess of fish.

To all the outboard mechanics out there

Coil could be a good possibility. Nailer mentioned copression. I would deffinently check that. I have a 1950 Johnson model TN that did the same thing. After going threw everything mentioned I pulled the engine apart and found a bad bearing on the crank shaft. I have also had this identical problem on a snowmobile. same thing bad bearing on the crank shaft. They would start up and run just fine until they got warm, then shut off. let sit for a couple of minutes, start back up then shut off after they got warm again. just my expirence with this simialar problem. -
Hi John One question on the flashers and flies. later in the year we can catch fish on flash/flies on either core or riggers or wire. earlier in the spring what have you found to be most productive. I have had good luck early with wire dipseys and flash/flies but have not been able to make other cobos work early in the spring. As you stated mostly spoons. the reason I am asking is to try and get that bigger fish for the tournements. One more fish last year would have made a big difference in our standings.

have never had a break with 20lb Ande running church boards off of them and ran last set for 2 seasons before redoing the whole set up this year. Keep in mind I only fished approx 150 hours the last 2 years as the older my kids get the more of my time they demand for school activities. So if you use them a ton more which alot of guys do you will want to change the backing more often. I also keep my rods in the house when not using them to keep the line from being exposed to big temp changes out in the barn. the leader I change out every 2 or three trips as I always keep that fairly new. Also I would run big game with no hesitation I just use th ande because I buy it in bulk. If I was not using ande I would use Berkley big game. bolth have proven to work well for me
