  1. Very nice steelhead. I too hope all goes well and you are back on the water soon.
  2. Good Job Mike... How was the water? I had planed to fish today in Manistee but the forecast called for 3-5ft waves when I looked Thursday night so I made alternate plans. It did not seem that windy today.... Damn forecasters.
  3. You are a true sportsman, Duece.
  4. Good Job Jay. I know now why we did not do that well on Sunday, we were fishing too shallow. We stayed pretty much inside 10fow. Thanks for the report and the info.
  5. Its a good feeling being on the water again after a long cold winter is'nt it Mike. Boat looks great in its new home...
  6. Thanks guys. Matt, we had 42.3 deg when we set up at Sable Point and 44.2 8 hrs later at the pier. I believe this was just normal daytime warming cause we never really hit any spots that varied temp much. It just gradually warmed as we trolled north. To be honest I was suprised things were so slow. Other than the sun being out, conditions were pretty good. Had a nice little chop on the water and the water had a pretty good stain to it out to about 15fow. From the point to the pier, the clearest water was about 4-5' of visability, and that was more towards the point.
  7. Unfortunately it took us 8hrs to get the limit. Very slow for us yesterday. Launched the boat about noon and with all the trucks in the parking lot we figured the immediate area got hit pretty hard in the morning so we decided to motor all the way south to Sable Point. Got to the point and put it on a north troll and set lines. It took us about 8 hrs to troll the 12 miles back to the pier and we went 6-7, all browns in the 2-5lbs range. No real hot spot. we averaged a fish about every 1.5 hrs. 2 fish came on the downriggers with a spoon that I have no idea who makes it, had it for years and never used it, but it's medium size and reddish pink. I will try and remember to take a pic of it today and post it. 2 fish came on orange firetiger rapala and 2 came on a green and chrome thin fin. The fish we missed hit a jointed firetiger rapala.
  8. I am sure it does spook them some but not enough to send them out to the shelf. A few years ago we were brown fishing and I was untangling lines and one still had the rapala about 10' behind the motor and had a fish hit it. Needless to say, I am glad it was not a big one. Boated that fish too. Good luck Jose.
  9. That reminded me of a good point to let every one know. There were 2 docks in at Manistee but they were the short ones. My Boat is 19' 6" and it was tricky to load back on the trailer. Just a heads up..
  10. Fished Manistee yesterday afternoon and went 4-6, all browns. Started trolling the pier heads and went north following the dirty water and the waves, 2-4ft, and only went 0-1 north. That one was a good fish but we never saw it. Broke off after just a few minutes. Black and chrome medium size spoon. Turned around and headed south of the pier. Water was clearer and warmer, had anywhere from 45.3 to 46.7 degrees. went 4-5 about a mile south in 8fow. Blue and white, black and white, and clown rapala's took three and the other was on the black and chrome spoon. Boat ran good and I got my sea legs back (it was a bit ruff out there:eek:) so all in all a good trip for first time out this year. Good luck to all..
  11. Great jopb Jay and thanks for the report. Were you north or south? I am planning on fishing Thurs afternoon this week.
  12. Thanks for sharing that Nick. Heck of a nice laker and seeing it through the clear ice was cool.
  13. I got the boat out of its wintery grave today. Hope to have her rigged, running, and ready to go by middle of next week. Look out fish here I come....
  14. Very sad indeed. He was a good Man but boy did he lead an unhealthy lifestyle. I have great respect for the captains and crew of those crab fishing boats..
  15. Very good question, 9.6 does seem high. I am curious to the answers you get. Guess I better check mine this spring.
  16. Thanks Adam. Whats your prediction of it locking back up before spring? I was hoping to get atleast one trip in to the bay this year but have been waiting for it to get safe.
  17. I dont do much fishing localy but I did fish Nestor Lake(between Harrison and Clare) last Sunday with one keeper pike and one nice gill. Gills were there just could'nt get them to bite. Had good schools come through about every 15min but they were tight lipped.
  18. Great job on the gills man!!! Just curious, but rattail lake is private isn't it? If so, I am jealous now..
  19. I am all for Wind farms. I've been on one of those projects in the thumb a few years ago and they create alot of jobs. But I dont agree they need to be offshore. There is plenty of wind onshore and it seems to me that it would be way cheaper to keep them on land rather offshore. Just my .02
  20. I would have some interest in this..
  21. Good job Jake... At least he did'nt waste any meat though...hahaha
  22. Congrats Mike!!!
  23. I switched to a Moultire the first of October and after close to a month of use I am at 86% battery life left. It takes 6 D's and thats averaging about 30 pics a week. Had it set to take video for 5 days also. I do like the fact the battery use is low but overall I am not impressed with the infrared flash. Judging by the pics it seems to me that it spook's more deer than the regular flash did. At night the infrared lights glow red and really stand out.
  24. Now that is a great hunt... Congrats Eric...
  25. It is amazing how much stuff you can fit in a boat and not even realize it..LOL When I first started out I used to keep everything onboard from spring to fall gear. Now I just take what I need..
