  1. I agree with the above. All of my rods on the boat are 8'6"-9' except for my dipseys, they are 10'. I like the extra lengh when fighting fish.
  2. On the west side it would have to be Manistee. But like Wayne said about Insta Launch, never again will I launch out of there and my boat is smaller than Wayne's. I really need to get up there to Frankfort sometime. I have heard the same things you say about it Rich from others.
  3. True...That was also one of my pet peaves.
  4. I named mine Bluedevil cause the boats blue and I can be a little devil sometimes. I have had the boat for 4 years now but wish I would have put a little more time and creativity into the name. Oh well there is always the next one.
  5. I would have voted but I did not see the "have not caught one big enough to mount yet" option up there. I keep telling myself that I will not get a salmon mounted unless it is 30lb's or more but as the years go buy I think I may have to lower my standings. But I agree with caz also.
  6. As far as a "book" I cant say, but a good mag is the great lakes angler magazine. Pretty informative and give good info for lots of different ports around. Only thing I did not like about it is that you only get 6-7 magazines in a year subscription and it was like around $18-20 for a year.
  7. I have a 19'6" Starcraft Superfisherman with an 8' beam and a 125hp Mercury outboard and I can, and have fished 4 people in it but 3 is ideal.
  8. My biggest out of Lk Mi was around 24lb. Caught it two years ago out of Manistee on lead core....fun..fun. Biggest out of LK Huron was just shy of 27lb's. Got that one about 4 years ago in the Rogers City tourny on a silver streak spoon off a rigger. I think it was "black magic" spoon but cant remember for sure. That fish put us into 16th place out of 300+ boats.
  9. Hello to everyone, My name is Matt and I am a Great Lakes fishaholic and I would preferr to stay that way too. I went salmon fishing on the Great Lakes for the first time when I was about 8 years old and got sea sick really bad and said never again. Tryed it again at the age of 14 and the same thing happend. Figured third time had to me a charm, so I went out again with my uncle around the age of 21 and had a blast. I ended up buying my own boat a few years later and have never looked back. I learned alot from my uncle, trial and error, and forums like this. I have since been able to hold my own, even place in a few tourny's, but I am always looking for to gaining and sharing new info with others. Looking forward to it.
  10. Another thank you here to Steve for the heads up to these forums.
