Mike, I was allmost straight out on Sat in about 120fow and I did see nets out further than we were. Probably starting around 130fow. I seen them and turn the other direction...

Well Nick, I will just call it dumb luck.. Seriously though I did not do well in this tourny last time. I fished no more than 1/2 mile north or south of the pier in 50-80fow and I just got lucky and hooked up with a little bigger fish.

Man I find it really weird that everyone took fish on the assortment of spoons. I hooked and boated 1 fish on the dreamweaver spoons, green frog on a full core, the rest of our fish came on the spindoctor and fly combo's on the dipsy's. I tryed everything with the spoons on the riggers but could not hit a fish on them. Not complaining, just find it odd...

Large white hootchie and green fly or meat on an outside rigger 70-100' behand the ball has been very good for me in the past.

Yes, a BIG thanks to all the sponsors and to all that put this event together...:D I did not realize that there was only .8lbs between my boat and Rick's boat. Good job Rick and crew but next year I will be looking for that .8lb drop weight in the bellys... Sorry I could not stick around after the way in and BS but one of my crew members works 3rd shift and he wanted to get some sleep before he went in. Looking forward to next year and hope to see you all again Labor Day Fun Tournament.

Well due to some family obligation's I will not be able to make it Sat morning:( but should be able to make it sat evening.

Sounds good nick and just remember if you dont want to haul your boat up to the northern ports I allways have room for ya... I am itching bad too cause I have only had my boat out once this year cause it is in the shop getting repainted but I should have i back by the end of this week....

I will be fishing out off Manistee again this weekend on my buddys boat since mine is still in the shop... Leaving Fri afternoon and fishing till Sat afternoon.

Steve, I saw one set of nets on Sat when I ran down to the point and they were straight out from the point. Other than that I did not see any others but I never went out deeper than 60fow. My buddy was out there to and he went out deep but he said he never seen any either. I sure hope they are marked well when they get them out there. Nick, Yea I heard about your misfortune and I hope it gets fixed soon so you can get out there. Where do you mainly fish out of? We need to gang up on them fishy's sometime.

Fished from 5pm till 9pm on Fri and went 2 for 3. Ran about 4 miles south, to troll with the waves, and set up in about 12fow. First line out was a 2 core lead setup with a small 2" black and white spoon that I have no idea who makes it or where I got it from but it turned out to be my top producing set up. Just got that line set and reached for another rod to set and the first one went off. Lost that fish taking the inline board off. Trolled the 4 miles back to the pier heads and never hit another fish untill 1/4 mile from the pier and that fish came on the same core set up. Got that fish to the boat and another rod went off. I cant recall what that fish came on but we did manage to bring it to the boat. Darkness was setting in so we called it a night after that fish. Both fish were browns in the 3-5lbs range:) Sat 5/19 was on the water by 8:30am and ran the 12-13 miles south to Big Sable Point. Set up in 10fow on a north troll and had lines set by 9:30ish. Trolled up to Gurny Creek and went 5 for 5. All browns, smallest was 3lbs and biggest was 7lbs. Three fish came on the 2 core led set up and one fish came on a green alwife spoon behind one of those tiny dipsy that are the size of a golf ball with 60' of line out. Last fish came on a pink alwife on the rigger 3' down with 100' behind the ball. All in all it was a good shake down trip with fish to boot....

I will be going out on my shake down trip this weekend in Manistee and was just wondering if any fellow members wer going to be out? I will post a report when I return, hopefully a good one...

Very sorry to hear about your loss Rich... I came accross this video poem a few years ago and I really enjoy watching it from time to time. Thanks for the feed back guys. CaptLevi, I think that is Spicers that you are thinking of but I refuse to do bussiness with them fools ever again. The boat I am looking to get repainted was purchased from them and less than 2 years later I needed to get some warrenty work done on the boat and they said they were no longer a Starcraft dealer so I would have to take it someplace else... I plan on doing some research this weekend while I am home and find someone to do this for me.

I am looking for someone that does Aluminum boat refinishing in the central Mi area. A few years ago I got some dings and scratches in my boat and I need to get them repaired. It is a 196 Starcraft Superfisherman. Insurance is going to cover it so I am not "too" concerned about price. Any info would be appreciated.
