  1. Started the morning off at 6am. From a previous post I decided to go deep. Got to about 95' when we started marking fish. Didn't even have all the lines in the water and we had one on. From there on out we took a fish about every 30-40 minutes. Not exactly fast and furious but that's good enough for me. What worked: Yellow dolphin 225cu 3/4 Yellow frog rigger down 50 1/1 Flounder pounder down 91 0/1 Mixed veggies 300cu 0/1 I could only get a hit on a north/NE troll. Anything else and they wouldn't hit. Ended up with 2 steel and 2 griller kings. Lost two more same kings at the back due to poor netting. Overall it was a pretty nice morning. 2. Been fishing holland for a few years now and didn't really think about that. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  3. If you don't mind me asking were you north or south of the pier heads? Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  4. I'm going back out on Tuesday. Hopefully the water settles back. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  5. Yeah definitely a hard one. Not sure what else I could have done. Between the fog and waves going offshore wasn't really an option. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  6. Fished 7am-2pm. The morning started out pretty nasty. Very thick fog and a light rain kept me from going out to far from the piers. The lake definitely flipped with the cold water being in tight. This is my first skunk of the year. Fished the piers and all the way out to 100 with nothing to show. Used every spoon / flasher I had in the boat that has worked in the past running mainly small spoons. Only real marks I had were in 60fow. I found two big bait balls and did figure 8's around them at all speeds and directions. A couple other guys I heard had the same luck as I. Hopefully the lake sets back soon or else the boat is going away for the season. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  7. Just saw that as well. I might power down to saugy and hit the pier. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  8. See you out there. I was gonna try shallow as well. I'll be on 68 - not sure if it's a good boat name but we call ourselves the "struggle bus" haha Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  9. Thinking about going in the morning. Any tips? Will report when we get back.
  10. Do you think the matures are already in the river or just sitting in warm water in shallow waiting. Did you see any marks in close? Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  11. I'm assuming you have to wait till north winds hit to get them to bite? Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  12. Blue bubble flasher fly. BLL Patriot. Blue dolphin DW SS. BLL hawg wild. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  13. Yeah I don't mind trolling, it's the whole blasting into them in the dark that gets me. The rivers down here seem to be empty and everyone fished 80-160 last night with not too much luck. I'm confused at where the matures are all at. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app

  15. Started the afternoon at 3pm. On our way out we stopped in 80 fow and just started looking for marks and got out to 100 fow with very few marks. Powered out to 130fow and set lines on a SE heading and slowly worked our way into 90fow with nothing but a rip. Worked our way out to 130fow again (about an hour before sunset at this point) and finally started taking hits. Took 3 fish by sunset (lake trout, small king, and a decent size steelhead). All hits were taken below 60' down with no real pattern. Heard of a guy who went all the way out to 160 with no luck. Most people had luck in the 130-140 fow range. Wave forecast was definitely off so I decided to not fish the moonlight in my little 16' deep V. Hopefully all the big kings aren't all in the river at this point because I'd like to get a chance at them again this week. Overall, it was better than an evening at work. 16. We're gonna head out tomorrow and will report on our trip. Any recent reports? The lake seems to have set back up. I'm trying to decide between hitting saugy's piers or going out deeper. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  17. Started off this morning at 0430. Noticed the water was much colder in shallow than the buoy was showing. Tons of marks between 40-70 so we set up in 50 on a SW heading. As soon as the light hit the horizon we took a quad in 70fow losing two and my favorite DW paddle in the process. We slowly worked our way out to 90fow by 10am when we pulled lines. Went 5 for 9 after all was said and done. Ran 5 flasher flies and 1 spoon. Poofster and pickled sunshine were the hot fly pattern. Flounder pounder took hits as well. Didn't take a hit below 60' down. The current is moving quite fast so we had to vary our speed a bunch between 2.5-4. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  18. Did size of spoons matter for you guys? Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  19. Started in 60fow straight out and slowly made our way to 200fow by the afternoon. Took a couple lakers, a coho, and a very acrobatic steelhead in 80-90fow. Hits were on spin doctors on the bottom and a custom looking orange DW spoon that Salmon Addiction gave to us that morning. Besides 80-90 we had very few marks. Probably should have fished the piers. Hopefully the next couple weeks fishing heats up. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  20. Im going out of holland in the morning from 0430-1300. Plan on working 125-150 for silver and then 200+ after 10. I'll let you know what I find. If someone has any better info than that I'm all ears.
  21. If you fish out deep I've had good luck running one rigger down 125+ with a big white paddle and UV fly. Faster speeds help. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app

  23. Fished holland afternoon from 10-3. Set up in 190 just north of holland and trolled south. Once we hit 205 consistent action started. Downrigger with BLL hawg wild down 35' took one and missed one. Dipsy divers out 71' and 91' took a hit each but only got one in with hawg wild and blue dolphin. Downrigger down 125 with big white paddle and poofster fly took three hits taking 2 kings. The third king (we're pretty sure) spooled us out to 500 then proceeded to break the leader off the fly. Very nice day until the wind started to kick up a bit. 2 kings a coho and a steel. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  24. Fished out of holland as well. Got a few hits in 47 in front of holland. And just out of curiosity slid out to 120 to see what would happen. Occasional marks out to 85 but nothing past that. Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman mobile app
  25. I fished from 0900-1400. Got out to 125fow around 1100 and that's when the bites started. It was all top 20 except for the one rigger hit.
