I'd be inclined to believe your heads are for cut bait. My B.W. whole-bait heads work great. A couple of years back I posted a step-by-step thread on how I do it. I don't want to over load this thread so do a search for "Brining Bait "Ale's". Should answer most of your questions. Martin

I've been using brined "Ale's" for years. Since I DON'T have a boat this year, I just gave away 6#'s of bait. Martin

Since Eleanor has passed after 10 years of faithful service, I don't need the whole brined ale's I have in the freezer. Just checked and there is 5.6# of natural and green color. Good scale and color retention even after 3hr trolling. I'm in the Hartford area, just East of S.J./B.H.

South Haven 8-9-17 PM I over slept by 2 hrs so I kissed off an AM run. Cleared the river at 1530hrs headed West. Marked a lot of fish in 85fow so I made a big loop and started my 3 rod spread with nothing to show for it. At 1730hrs in 158fow my big white paddle w/ an old unknown grn&blue fly, 30b x100dwn rips off. Boxed a nice 17.5# She-King. East bound at 1800hrs in 160fow my Mountain Dew Spinnie w/ an old Howie green crinkle on the other DR 20b x 90 dwn got slammed resulting in a 15# King in the box. It only took about one minute after the re-set for it to buck again. Damn it, should have checked the 50# fly harness, it broke about half way down. West bound in 172fow at 1915hrs the Mountain Dew spinnie w/ a green glow squid 15b x 90dwn got smashed. One thing about a 24.5# King salmon, she goes anywhere she damn well pleases. Now I have 250x45# worth on CU mangled up on the floor of the boat. At 2010hrs and 2030hrs I finally box two medium weight Greasers making it 5 for 6, one on the big paddle and 1 on the spinnie. Stopped at the migrant camp down the road and donated the 2 lakers, they think I's Santa. Since I’m real hard of hearing I broke out 2 OLD reels w/ very loud bait clickers for the DR’s since I was fishing solo. Yep all 5 of these fish were fought and landed with Old Penn 209’s. Martin

Ouch. I took a hook pointer past the barb this spring. It caused one heck of an infection and I know better. People, if ya get stuck, take care of it properly.!!!!!

South Haven, 7-31 & 8-01 Fished the last two morning SOLO again. Monday netted a 7# Steel on a DR down 55’ in 112fow on an old mag. Yellowtail. Two hrs. later netted a 15# Laker on a 250x32# CU in 120fow on a Mx Veggie. Tuesday the first fish was a 22.2(plus #) KING at 0645hrs on my 250x32# CU w/ a Mx Veggie. My digital scale errors out at 22#. Reset the CU and went forward to weigh the King and noticed my GPS was off line. Tired rebooting it 3 times but nothing. And the Old 20th century tech to the rescue. My OLD Garmin GPS can run off 4-AA’s in a pinch so I pulled the batts. out of my lure flasher and I was back in business. While doing this a DR had tripped and the fish was gone and the dog-gone DR won’t come up even after hitting the re-set switch. The second DR is also dead. I had a “Mooch” moment. And then my little trip went totally el-crappo, Fishfinder and sump pump off-line and my 80hp Merc won’t turn over. Everything is on two different batteries and circuits, complete electrical melt down. Pointed Eleanor toward my waypoint and headed in from 130fow at 0730hrs. Cleared the DR lines and deployed 2 assorted CU rigs and hand reeled up those 10# fishie weights. At 0800hrs a little 6# Laker tagged a mag Smurf behind a 250x45# CU. At least the troll in wasn’t a total washout but it did take forever!!!! I guess I’ve got my work cut out for me tomorrow because I’ve had too many Bud’s already today. BTW, the inside measurement on my fish cooler is 37 inches and I'm 6'2". Martin
