  1. Here is a picture to go with my post above.
  2. Mentor Lagoon's Mentor, Ohio. July 2, 2007 Well we started late today, 10am before we left the dock. We were waiting and hoping the wind would die down, NOT ! Was a steady blow from the NorthEast. 2-4 foot waves. with some bigger ones tossed in for extra fun and excitement. We started trolling in 42 fow, and headed into the waves and wind. Well after an hour and only 1 fish, we changed direction and trolled with the wind. We started hitting fish in 52 fow, and stayed there as best we could. Ended the day at 2pm with 18 nice walleye, 2 perch and a bunch of silver bass. Majority of fish came on 30 jet divers back 80-120' Stingers with copper backs, harnesses, and stick baits all took fish. Then after that, we finished the day right, by going to the Cleveland Indians game. Which they won, 10 to 2. Dam it just don't get much better than that.
  3. Fished out of the Lagoons this evening. Started in 40 fow and went to the North East. Found a spot where it goes from 40 fow to 52 fow in real short order. I guess the only way to describe it is like a very large bowl, in the lake bottom. Anyhow, we found that spot and trolled through it picked up first 6 fish, made several passes over the same area and limited out with 18 walleye 1 perch, and 3 "sheep from the deep". We were all finished by 9PM. We left the dock at 7pm. I sure hope these fish stick around for awhile.
  4. Welcome to the Forums Bob. I have seen that boat, just the other day here in Mentor. I keep mine at Mentor Lagoons. You are absolutely right, the walleye fishing has been Fantastic. Glad to know that there is yet another local here on the boards. Bill Boat name: Week Daze
  5. Fished out of the Lagoons again tonite. Took a new guy with me. We were all done with a 2 man limit of 12 fish in under 2 hours. 52 FOW most anything in copper worked with some fish coming on Renoski stick baits. Ran 30 and 40 jets back 125 on the 30 and 150 on the 40's. As soon as the sun touched the water on the horizon, it went crazy.
  6. Ray, I think it's time to advertise for some Demolition work, hehehe, get someone to volunteer to make the bridge "go away" Nice walleye. Too.
  7. Fished the same area as last night. Had to work real hard just to get the 8 fish we got. Lot's and lot's of silver bass, and small perch. Oh well was a beautiful day to be on the water.
  8. We fished out in front of the Lagoon's last night. Hit the water at 7:00 pm fished in 39-42 fow. Limited out with 18 walleye by 8:30 pm. Fish were coming on 30 and 40 jets, 65 to 100' back and large Dipsey divers, "0" setting 40' back. I seed like "anything" we put out there was taking fish! Back out again this morning to try and do it all over again.
  9. Nope, when I was messing with the antenna, I noticed that the tube was loose from the base, and when I lifted it up the wire came out of it. Gonna see if I can reinsert it and solder it back in place.
  10. Mike after or conversation this afternoon, I went to the boat and redid my wiring for the radio, and replaced my antenna also. ( had a spare in the garage) Long story short it works again! I even cut the antenna cable and got rid of the big loops in it. Thanx for the insight, saved me a bunch of cash!
  11. I envy you guys. My boys are grown and moved away now. So I don't get to fish with them like I used to. But, I still have the memories! And my someday, the grandkids will get big enough to start taking them out fishin'. And Frank you are SO very right! They grow up before you realize it, and then they aren't there anymore.
  12. According to the weather guys, it's suppossed to lay down to 2 feet or less for Friday and Saturday. I sure hope that they are close, I have some folks coming up from Pittsburgh for a day of fishing.
  13. I don't have a temp probe, but I can agree with the "strange things" going on. Guys here in Mentor, EastLake, were getting limit catches last week, and now the fish seem to have scattered. At least that is what I have heard, will try and get out later on and see what I can find.
  14. Yeah Man. We had a GREAT time! ! ! That perch was the toughest of all ! Thing near pulled me off the boat twice ! Good thing Ray hauled me back in by my shirt tail ! ! LOL
  15. Does anyone know of a good repair place that I can get an Okuma line counter reel fixed. Were out trolling for walleye, and it locked up on me, had to bring the fish in hand over hand. Thanks in advance, shu.
  16. Mentor Lagoon's Mentor, Ohio. June 12 Did it again last night. Took a couple of people out for walleye's. Got 18 and a Steelie. Most of the action was on worms and 40 jets, till the sun started to go down, then Stinger Wonderbread, on 30 jets went crazy ! ! Couldn't keep them in the water. Majority of fish came from 46-52 fow. On a South to North and North to South troll, also doing the "s" turns making these people really wonder if I knew what I was doing. I really love this time of year.
  17. I guess that I am luckier than most, I am only 5 minutes away from my boat. So the cost to get there is minimal, as for boat gas, 12 gallons each time I go down there, is about $40.00 a trip. The guys I fish with are really great, every time we go out, we take turns at the gas, and someone else brings the 2 - 6 gallon cans full.
  18. Fished straight out of the laggons today, 42-51 fow. Lots of traffic, and lots of fish. Big dipsey divers on "0" 35 on the counter, with stinger standard size spoons, were hot. Also took fish on jet divers in 20,30,and 40. With harnesses, stinger scorpions, Renosky stick baits, and worm harnesses. Took a two man limit of 12 walleye. All fish in the 3-4 lb. class.
  19. Well I had a couple of hours today, so I went out at 10:30 this morning, got to 42 fow and set 2 big dipsey's 35 back with copper worm harness's. Not 10 minutes into my troll, got a walleye about 1 1/2 lbs. About 15 minutes later, same rod went again, this one weighed in at 5.14 lbs. I was all done by 11:15am. Got 2 which is plenty for dinner tonight.
  20. Rob, Welcome to GLF. I think you will find this is probably the best group of peeps on the net. Some of us may be old and cranky at times, and some of us may just smell like old fish, but, All in all it's a great place to learn and enjoy. shu
  21. Went out of Mentor Lagoons, due North to 42 fow. set up big boards, with 30 jets outside at 100, then 80 middle and 65 inside. Only got to make one pass to 50 fow, before the storm caught up to us. Did get 6 real nice walleye. And a wet and rough ride back to home.
  22. Now that is one very happy fella.
  23. Gonna hit Eastlake, on Sat. afternoon. Gotta get'em while they are there.
  24. Did the EastLake thing again today Went over to Eastlake again this morning, got 8 of 11 walleye. 48 to 51 fow was good for us. Lot of chatter on the radio, guys in 40 fow also doing well. Most fish came on 30 jets wit a few on big dipsey's back 35'
  25. Rich dropped a "fish Ohio" walleye right at the back of the boat. And then "IT" hit. By it, I mean this fish that hit the 30 jet on the outside. The line was back 125' and when this thing hit, it took my line counter from 125' to 500' before I got it to turn !!! Fought with it for about 5 minutes, (that seemed like hours) and at about 70' out it was gone ! The hook on my standard size Stinger in Green Dolphin, was straightened out and "IT" was gone. Sure would have liked to seen what "IT" was.
