Steelhead1:,I didn't run up on top of him; I'll admit until we turned he was concerned n so would I be; but we turned n everything was fine! I never run up on anyone. The problem was he was reel obnoxious; wasn't necessarily what he said but how he said it. Threatening us and very condescending, i.e he was being an -ss! My other two mates felt same way. And, they a more mild mannwred than me. Almost reminded me of charter capt in Manistee, during August harbor patrol trolling out of the channel with 4 boards out. Crazy!!! -

Nailer, thks for reply. Hadn't seen my cousin for quite a while so was nice to take him out and catch up on family stuff. An irate charter captain though tried to spoil the day. They had boards out n we were just starting to set lines n he went ballistic about us not giving him room. My cousin was driving so I took the helm and went parrallel to them until we passed them. Then later he turned right in front of us and I put my hands up and he started in again about trolling in circles. Guess it's ok form him to cut me off since he owns the lake. If he was concerned he should have said it in a nice way instead of ripping in to us. Think he was showing off for his clients. Even said he was going to call DNR. What a joke. 99.9% of fishermen n charter captains r very curtous but u run into some jerks once in a while. I still have a bad taste in my mouth about it. Lady that works at the city launch was very nice n helpful at the cleaning station!!! 2 lakers had fins clipped so Mark filled out the forms n put forms n heads in plastic bags in the freezer there. DNR picks them up once a week. Be interesting to see info we get back about them. -
Time fished: 8 - 1:30 Area fished (GPS lat/lons 0ptional): south and little north of pier heads Best depth of water to be over: 38, 42, 48 Most productive troll direction: E, W, N Depth of hits: Approx 40' Rigger lead lengths: 15-45' Number of fishermen aboard: 3 Best lures & colors: white flasher/gr & wh fly; red laser Capt john UV s[poon; or/gr/sil UV spoon Surface temp: 48-60 Down temp for hits (if known): 30 down was like 47 Troll speed: 2.5 - 2.8 Number and kind of fish caught: 2 lakers; 1 coho; 1 rigger know off w/no one home. Reel commentary: As predicted was good SE wind to start. Pier guys were getting steelies and so were two charters running in shallows; worked there a few hours and couldn't get any hits, but at 9am trolling north we did get 6lb laker on 4 /1/2 colors on CJ spoon above on port side in 38 fow. Moved out deeper and worked our way out to 80fow; around 11am laker on port dipsey out 120' on 3 on flasher/fly above; 1:15 on way in port 4 1/2 colors fired again on UV gr/or spoon above. Mid morning lake settled down to almost calm and got warm, then nice SW breeze and then wind shifted again to NE and air cooled down. Glad I was finally able to take my cousin out and get him 2 fish.; he lives in South Haven. "Hockey Puck" ON THE REEL WOMAN Agnello

Martin: Dredge was not problem for us; 1 is on south side of channel just west of beach and other is on south side of pier SW of pier. I had just switched one of my reels from 225' copper to 10 colors of lead and within a few minutes got that nice king on it. Brought boat home from being stored on trailer at Pier 1000. I moss being able to putz with it.Last night n this am putting rest of lead on reels n rods. Thought I would be different n made 4 1/2 n 5 1/2 along with a 2, 8, n 10 colors. Even though I have copper both have their advantages; 2 fish were on copper, 1 on the lead and 2 hits on rigger spoons. No hits on dipseys. Will do SHaven next week n Erie out of Monroe for eyes week after. -
Short report: went 3 for 4. Setup in 120fow south of pier heads hdg NW. 10:10 got coho on or/gr/yl uv spoon on 280' copper in 185fow. 12:09 had fish on slider yellow spoon with red dots, that broke slider line, action jumping around was probably steelie. Main line rigger was down 65'. 12:50 131fow trolling east same yellow spoon on 10 colors 8 lb king with fin clipped. 1:20 121fow trolling east, coho on same spoon on 280' copper Had rigger down 65' that released with no one home. Had meat out, flashers n flies no hits; all hits on spoons. Want to thank John Burgess for his report yesterday about yellow spoon above, Fishin Hole for recommendations on uv spoon that caught two and Crew on Meals from Reels, Tyler Kleva and his granpa n crew for all their reports on the radio throughout the day. Dad, Chris, aka Klev6, had to work. 0-1s all day! Beautiful day on Lac Mich. "Hockey Puck" ON THE REEL WOMAN Agnello

Like shown on this site with some fat kings all 4 Hos looked well fed n fat n sassy. 0-1s went to calm flat out deeper then after turn at 240' a nice breeze picked up to put ripple on top, then we got 4 hits coming in per above. Beautiful day out there. PURE MICHIGAN

Time fished: 8-11:15 Area fished (GPS lat/lons 0ptional): Straight out from piers Best depth of water to be over: 75-90 Most productive troll direction: west Depth of hits: 45' Rigger lead lengths: 20-25 Number of fishermen aboard: 2 Best lures & colors: or spoons Surface temp: 47 Down temp for hits (if known): 45 Troll speed: 2-3 Number and kind of fish caught: 0 for 2, or 0-5 if we count 3 rigger release on bottom. Reel commentary: Set lines at 8 in 65 fow n trolled out to 90; both riggers went off in 75fow but probably on sliders not down lines because after few bounces and pulls, gone. Had out 225' 30lb and 280 45lb copper with spoons n flasher/flies; spoons on dipseys and riggers. Put spin n glo and chrome dodger on rigger later and had three releases on east troll. short hits. 1s at 8am but built up to 2-4s around 11; had to get home early and we knew wind n rain was supposed to start around noon. Great day on the lake, but black n white kitty is still in the box. Heard from my neighbor that another Jackson fishermen did well in 180fow. Again hind site had I know maybe would have headed out there first thing before lake built up. There were no St Joe reports on 3 sites I use and that's probabvly because of our steelheaders St Joe tourney. "Hockey Puck" ON THE REEL WOMAN Agnello

Great thanks. You can get instant wind, wave etc info from all buoys on your I phone, etc by texting the buoy number to 734 418 7299. The return text is your report. -

Sly: At least no black n white kitties in our boxes; didn't realize you were out there with us; since just a few boats out I didn't hookup my radio. Knew water was cold due to our east winds all week, but warmer than old Coastwatch temps that we 36 hours old that said temps were in 30s. Hopefully they will update reports sooner. Also sent email to Limnotech to see ehen they were going to deploy buoys, especially Cooke n South Haven. Haven't heard from them yet, though. -
Time fished: 8-1pm Area fished (GPS lat/lons 0ptional):couple miles north n south of pier heads Best depth of water to be over: 85 Most productive troll direction: West Depth of hits: 35' +/- Rigger lead lengths: 15-20 Number of fishermen aboard: 3 Best lures & colors: Purple/white magnum spoon Surface temp: 47 in 60fow; 44 in 1oofow. Down temp for hits (if known): Troll speed: 2.5 Number and kind of fish caught: 2 Coho Reel commentary: Got 5 lb coho on 5 colors of lead on the purple spoon. Had small fish on dodger and gr/or spin n glo that got off quickly; when pulling in 100' copper had a 12' coho on it that we returned; that was on bl/yel/gr spoon. NO LAKER TAKERS BUT QUITE A FEW MARKS OF LAKERS ON BOTTOM STILL IN 75-85FOW. cloudy, cool, some fog near SHORE; 1-3s to 1-2s the start building backup a little at 1. DNR creel guy, Brian, said if you went out 17miles you might get a couple more coho; yeah right; 200' is 13.5 miles out; with east wind all week I'm sure warm water is quite a ways out. didn't bother checking tem p down, but metal spoons were cold. thanks, nice job too; surprised coho were that far down, but with east wind wind all last week u never know. Laker marks all over 74' area but could't get spin n glo hit like we have past few weeks; will try some cowbells, too. Had marks 35-60' down in 75' area in morning n when we came back they were gone. Maybe they moved way out? Who knows? Had hockey team bud's wife out with us and his green horn wife fought her first big lake king like a champ. Love taking out green horns. Last two trips got them some fish. PRICELESS!!!! -

Here is a similar format we use on another fishing web site for port reports: "Date & port fished: Time fished: Area fished (GPS lat/lons 0ptional): Best depth of water to be over: Most productive troll direction: Depth of hits: Rigger lead lengths: Number of fishermen aboard: Best lures & colors: Surface temp: Down temp for hits (if known): Troll speed: Number and kind of fish caught: Reel commentary: " We copy and paste this and fill in the details. thanks Dan -

Have to try a rigger higher, we were greaser fishing in same area. We didn't see many marks in that area though.
