While pollution sucks, at least it was only tritium. It is a weak beta emitter has an average keV of 5.7 which is practically nothing. It's sad that this is probably one of the least dangerous pollutants that is dumped in the lake.

It is only $6600 but you need to take a $350 safety class before you can buy one. You also need your own jet ski with someone on it to operate the throttle for you. But for an extra $1200 you can get a hand controlled throttle. This is a lot cheaper than the $100,000 JetLev which is almost the same thing but it has its own 260hp power unit.

I fished PM lake out of my kayak 9/14. PM lake was loaded with salmon. I only got one that morning but was marking tons, seeing a lot jump, and watching other boats reel them in. I caught the one one a J-13 Rapala over by the Badger. Cranks and J-plugs seemed to be what was working for everyone. Talked to two guys at the launch that landed 29 and kept 10 by casting fire tiger cranks and floating spawn by the mouth of the river. All of those kings were bright silver. 9/15 my dad and our friends took a charter out. we ended up with 7 steelhead, 4 kings and 1 coho. we went out to 200ft of water and the water temp was still 68 degrees. The fish were hitting at every depth which we had well covered with the 14-16 rods the captain put out. I was impressed we only had one tangle. 9/16 I went out to PM lake with my kayaks and my friend tagged along this time. We only had 2 hours to fish but I ended up with one king on a green glow/black ladder back J-plug. We also stayed at the state park. We seen very few salmon in the Sable river.

I have the Icom M72 Handheld VHF for my kayak. It has 6 watt output and the battery will last you a few days easily. I think I paid $180 for it but it works well. I can hear the salmon boats in 170ft of water when I'm in Lake Macatawa.

Sounds like a bad gallbladder to me. It seems to be a popular problem. I do a lot of scans for them. The surgery is laparoscopic so in a couple weeks you'll be good as new. Pancreatitis sucks lets hope it is just the gallbladder. I trained at U of M medical center and that hospital is amazing to say the least.

Looks like a Hobie Mirage Pro Angler and they are only $2500. I wish I could afford one because they are sweet kayaks and incredibly stable. You can not only catch gills in your little lake but you can use it for shark fishing too. The guy in the video even has the livewell behind his seat. It only costs $250 extra but your bait will stay alive.

anybody use the foam tape rectangles that come with power pro? I usually use a mono backing but have one reel with the foam tape and it has worked good so far.

I've fished that tournament back when American tackle did it. It was fun and usually non stop action when you find a school. One year when we went over the school all four rods would get hit.

I also heard they are bad at trolling but that was a 17' boat. Also they suck down gas but maybe a diesel is different

the COs had their side arms on them too. i've never got stopped out in the big lake yet but last year i was checked three times and this year twice

I was supposed to be in a sheephead... i mean freshwater drum tournament in Holland Saturday but it got canceled due to the storms but me and my buddy decided to fish anyway. We caught about 30 sheepies. the biggest was 11.8 lbs. We took the boat out at the dnr launch and we were putting our gear away when a guy next to us asked how we did. To our surprise there were 3 conservation officers putting in two seadoos. They were very friendly and we just talked a little then left. I guess the COs were trying to be sneaky with the seadoos because there is a CO boat in the water at the coast guard station in Holland. Has anyone else seen them on seadoos in the big lake? The seadoos were green and white with a small little badge on the front close to the mirrors so from a short distance it looks the same as any other seadoo and they were wearing green life vests. My buddy said he was glad we seen them at the launch because if they came too close to us while we were fishing he might of flipped them the bird or yelled something and then feel like an idiot when realizing it was a CO. So if a green seadoo gets too close to you while fishing don't make any inappropriate hand gestures towards them.

From what i'm told it tastes better. It was my first time going up there and my friends go every year. They always bleed out the fish and we do have a live well. They tell me there is a difference in taste. we did forget to do it one time and the meat wasn't as white as the ones we bleed out. I'm sure you can do it from a stringer as long as the fish are still alive. We waited until we got back to the dock to bleed them because the DNR won't be to happy if they find you on the water with "mutilated" fish. My friends also cut out the blood line and they said that makes a significant difference and it's easy to do. after taking the fillet off the fish you just make two small cuts above and below the blood line at the tail of the fillet and starting at the top cut of the blood line pull the top half of the fillet off then pull the blood line off the bottom of the fillet using the bottom cut. The blood line tears out easy and it also removes any pin bones that happen to be in the fillet.

Went to little bay de noc for a week last week. Went with 8 other guys and had three boats. We fished sunday to friday and ended up with a little more than a hundred walleye between the three boats. Also caught a bunch of perch. The best day was our last day of course. My boat got our 3 man limit but had to work for it. we had to sort through 26 other walleye from 13"-14" to get our limit. We caught all the walleye drifting floaters with nightcrawlers. Most keepers were 15-19" and the biggest of the week was a 27" and 7lbs. walleye fishing was slow one day mid week so my boat decided to targeted pike and smallies for a few hours. we caught 5-6 pike from 24"-33". we caught some nice 3 to 5 lbs smallies. And my friends dad landed a 5.5 lb large mouth. This is our friday morning catch and finished our limit later in the day.

Went fishing with a friend in lake mac to play with some sheephead while trying to find some walleye. We ended up only catching 2 sheephead but found a nice school of white bass on the south side of the lake on a sand bar. They were fun to catch and very aggressive. We Caught about 10 big ones with the biggest being a little over 15 inches and a lot of smaller ones under 10". We used night crawlers and gulp minnows on a jig head.

The first time I looked at the clock after the accident was at noon. When got off the highway I think it was after 2pm we waited in the carpool lot to talk to the cops. We had to wait awhile for the first cop to come and start taking reports then a half hour later another cop showed up and was taking reports. I left the car pool at 3:40pm and there were still people waiting to give their report. The official accident report is still not available.

Went to Hamlin Lake this weekend and fished Saturday a half mile northeast of wilson park. We didn't do too good. We caught one small pike and a few blue gill. Saw lots of bass on the aquavu. Woke up early sunday and decided not to go out in the -4 degree weather with high winds and heavy snowfall. Went out to breakfast and headed home and ended up in the demolition derby on I-96 in Coopersville. I tried to catch a strike on video but it happens so fast that we usually just saw a flash of the pike then scales floating in the water from the shiner. jigging the shiner seemed to be the key for catching pike. we caught 5 pike by jigging and 2 pike off tip ups. The pike we caught were all just shy of 24". we stayed at pilgrim village and the pike we seen come off lake cadillac were all 30" and up.

I went up to Cadillac this weekend with two friends to kick off the ice fishing season. We fished Lake Mitchell which had at least 6" of ice. Had lots of action and ended up catching 7 pike and a few blue gills and small perch. we heard people on lake cadillac were catching big pike and lots of crappie. The boat gets winterized this week so I had to get out one more time. I went to the Muskegon River and fished just down river from Brower Park. Friday we had fun catching over 20 Pike most being around 20" with the biggest being 32". We used spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Saturday was slow and we ended up catching 8 small pike. Now I'm just waiting for the ice. Hopefully it comes sooner than last year.

I was camping in Holland this weekend and went Perch fishing every day. Friday I went out by myself at night and found a group of jumbo perch in 15' of water in front of the swim area. Ended up only keeping 10 but they were all huge. Saturday myself and three other guys went out at 9am and caught 20 perch 8-12 inches and went looking for perch south of the pier and ended up pulling in a 5 pound coho on a minnow in 19' of water. Sunday night we found the perch in 40 foot of water. caught a ton but all they were all small. also caught a 12 inch salmon. Today we went out to 37 foot of water and marked huge schools of fish. they were all small perch. We were even catching them without bait. We moved to 45' and caught 10 keepers. So we didn't catch a lot of keepers but was a lot of fun. (small fish this year means big fish next year!)
