    Fished this a.m. 6:15-10:30. Started in 60 fow, and headed southwest--best water was 110-130'. Apparently there were a lot of opinions of best troll direction as boats were traveling every direction! We fished a two person spread of 2 low divers and 4 coppers 150'-300' lengths. The best pole by far was the meat rig 145' back on 1. We caught a coho and 6# Steelie on that rig, and had at least four other tugs that didn't hook well. We changed hooks and then the action stopped--wouldn't you know?? The 3rd fish was a 4 year King--100 back on the High diver that we switched for the 150 copper, once it was obvious they wanted meat. The 4th fish (13# King) came on a 200' copper with a light green J-Plug. Almost all the hits/fish came on a SW troll, just the Steelie, going back north. We marked an incredible number of fish in the 15-30 down range--apparently Steelies, but we couldn't hook them. 3 footers made it a bit difficult to simultaneously maneuver boat/net fish at times but still a nice morning out on the water for sure!!

    I took three of our high school seniors (employed at our seedling nursery) out for the annual--"Fish before school starts annual outing" Fished this am. 70-120 fow. Went 4 four 6.-- Two four year olds and two lake trout. 4 out of 5 hits on a south-southwest troll, 2.1-2.4 mph at the ball. 250 copper with a green/glow J plug brought one salmon. 300 copper with a magnum spoon, white with 3 black dots went twice. Caught both lakers on high divers--one with blue bubble, the other with a meat rig. Waves continued to build through the morning, so we finished at 10:00am.

    Fished from 6:30 -10:00pm. Ran into lots of fog first, but decided to try the deep water and found clearing out there. We marked a bit in 90-120 on the way out...but nothing really from 150 to 230...no strikes, tried southwest, west, northwest trolls with nothing. Turned back and the dry air was moving the fog out. As we began reeling in, the high diver went--out 125 on 3, a meat rig kept us from the skunk, pulled in an 8 lb King--about 120 fow. Our program was 3 meat rigs, a flasher fly and spoons--couldn't make any progress in determining what size of spoon to be using. Does anyone have any direction on what size spoon is working best now? Thx.

    Thanks for the report. We tried it last night out of Saugatuck, ended up with 1/1 Browns. Gorgeous night--surface water temp of +/- 42 degrees.

    We fished on Saturday also, ended 3 for 4 with all Steelheads, one on a 3 color, regular orange spoon, one on a high diver, mtn dew spinny and another on a mixed veggie--9 color. Started at 150, (caught one on the way out oat 187 then went out to 240, and back in to 120. We caught two in that same 135-145 water the author of the report refers to. Pretty slow overall, but the day itself warmed nicely and the waves laid down some after 11:00am.

    We were on a pleasure ride last night, but did troll the channel and outside the mouth of the Kalamazoo in Saugatuck. We caught/saw nothing but more than that, no one was fishing the pierheads and no one came in at dark--There were some 4' waves...but I expected that someone would be out there if the fish were (still) there to be caught. Has anyone caught Salmon yet in the channel? I may have missed it but haven't seen any posts.

    Fished this a.m. out of Holland. Set up in 70 fow, trolled out to 100 on a northwest troll. picked up one 4 yr old on the downrigger, 50 down. Glow spoon--some sort of ladder back with red foil. Picked up a couple smaller fish on a southeast troll in 100-110 ft, one on a 300 copper with a blue/green fly, another on a glow dreamweaver spoon--white with black dots. Lost a couple 4 year olds--inexplicably just winding in, then headed out to 180 fow. Caught two on the way out--one on a meat rig--110 back on a #1 setting...another on the 300 copper again, this time with the white glow/black dot spoon. picked up a couple more four year olds in 160-170 fow., ended the day 6 for 9. Seems like the action was split between the wire divers, a couple on high divers with meat rigs and the 300' copper with spoons. Very good conditions for fishing...just lots of little winged friends to keep you from feeling too good...fruit fly types and some other larger insects.

    I read the same post from Lakeshore Outfitters...went out to 160-180 fow and found absolutely zippo. More than that, the water was already 45 degrees at 30 feet down, so whatever break there was, was right in that top 30'. We finished 3 for 7 today, had a triple on right away--one broke a line, another tangled in a board on a rip and so we landed only one of them. Seems like the 70-130 water was much better and responsive. Caught one on a meat rig 80 back on 1, but everything else was on Magnum spoons.

    Just checked the water temp at the Holland buoy. Surface water temp dropped from 56 degrees at 6:30am today to 41.2 degrees at 7:30pm!

    Two of us fished this morning till 10:30am, ended 4 for 4. Caught 3 four year old Salmon, biggest was 16#. One Steelhead--6# Total catch was 43#.

    Picked up the first one in 70 fow on a White Coyote with purple fly.

    We had quite a lull after that and finally fought through the traffic out to 160 fow. We picked up everything else in that 160-180 water. Moonshine Mag Spoon was the ticket for us, caught the other two 4 yr olds one on a 300 copper, the other on a high-diver 140 back set on 3. The Steelhead came on a double Orange Crush. Most action came on north trolls...though it seemed like everyone was heading south most of the time.

    Went 7 for 10 this morning, wrapped up at 10:00am. Caught 1 Laker, 2 Steelhead and 4 Kings--3 were 4 year olds--largest of which was 17lbs. Fished 95 to 120 for the first two to three hours. Caught 3 there. Southwest troll seemed best. One on the rigger on a glow spoon, the 17lb er on 300 Copper with a Green/Yellow Dolphin Glow. One of the Steelies came on the same Copper setup. Trolled in various directions, decided to head due west. Around 160' we started seeing good action, and had 5 hits in the last hour. The Copper rig went again, a coyote paddle on the rigger about 35 down and two on the meat rig, back 140, #1 setting. All told, about 70# of fish and lot's of fun and fillets to share. :-)
