i will be going with a kicker for the first time this year. i have an old merc 9.9 that i am going to make work. that said i may have my work cutout for me as i dont know how it will fit on my boat and i have a tilting/adjustable bracket. from most of my research the shaft length comes down to particular application, most recomenend a high thrust model, a solid fixed bracket , and an ez steer bar to tie them together. the last 2 are expensive then you can get into remote, power trim tilt and lots of other options.

maybe someone can give you more info i only have ideas as i have never used it. i think overall its an ok product. that said i dont know why torpedo makes stuff like this when the divers they make pretty much rule out all this stuff they must just want to stay ahead of whatever.

what is your price point ?( approx) would an 84 be too old ? -
heading down and perform well on the water, where is the boat? I'm jealous wish I could be boat shopping somewhere with open water. good luck and let us know how it turns out!

many people will say that no matter what you settle on you will end up wishing for just a little bigger, but i know many people that are perfectly happy with smaller rigs than you are speaking of. Ton of factors to consider such as expense, towing etc. Overall though i feel the boats you are looking at would make a fine starting point. good luck!

i would probably go with the hydrasport, but yes as frank points out perhaps dig a little deeper into both. maybe survey ? maybe find a boat like the hydrasport with a 4 stroke or make a low offer based on after a season or two swapping that 2 out for a 4 stroke.

Awesome-and congrats to you is all that needs to be said!

only idea is find the parts diagram and go from there only my take but i dont think its worth it to try on your own-1. if you miss what happens, still send it in ? 2.also if it was easy for all to do people like tuna toms would not be around.

when the waves hit 4ft-i troll with a nightcrawler-at the local bars. i dont feel the need to stay out in anything around 3ft or more anymore. most of my first mate trips were herein traverse where we rarely get that big of waves. but from my memory of the big pond fishing got better or at least stayed the same with larger waves. i would have to say its a speed issue if you are haveing a dramitic falloff of action.

just wondering who you sold them to , since i was the first reply but did not hear from you?
-
exactly what the complaint of the original poster is-he says that the tournys are all trying to lure new people etc. not drive them away how many first timers at a 25 dollar blackjack table? you must have really misunderstood the point he was trying to make
-
i tend to agree with you not only is the cost high to enter but then you have to factor in the gas, tackle, etc. yes you have those expenses on a normal trip but they seem to multiply for a tournament. i have saw guys run across the lake and spend what they won on gas just for so called bragging rights. i dont fish tournaments any more due mainly to the fact i work all weekends. the tournament trail magazine should be out soon and it will tell wich events can be entered 333 only.

What gradual climate warming could mean for Michigan tourism
gmfishon replied to News's topic in Great Lakes News
yea gonna need a super dose of global warming just to be able to troll for browns in april. -
levelwind all the way ! you pick the size, brand, new , used , line capc. etc. but skip the PIA of trying to guide the line back on with your fingers. if you get a backlash never you dont fish copper enough, if you get one only with a levelwind you need to fish copper more.
