South Haven 5/3 PM
reeltimebrad replied to Copilottruman's topic in Michigan Waters Fishing Reports - Salmon and Trout
South haven is mostly ch 10. -
Yes you can fit 450 ft of 45lb cu on a 800 tekota but your braid backing is minimal at best. The okuma 55 will take a acceptable amount of backing and even a repair or two without binding up the levelwind.

Marine Tex is also a two part epoxy and gel coat will stick as good to it as any other epoxy. If you plan on overcoating with gel coat it very easy to drill into creating a depression for the gelcoat.

Sounds like the loctite product you can find at menards it does harden like marinetex. While it might work I've found it is best left to sealing bolted on equipment and is inferior to 3m products like 5200. The marine Tex imo is what you want

I would return it to the marina they should have checked for proper operation before you got it back.

It looks like a fiberglass boat you have so fill with marine tex.

I am in favor of the idea as I occasionally fish solo or with one other and would love to run additional rods but what if the fishery changed as it often does and lots of people have already spent lots of money on extra rods and equipment and the dnr decides to go back to a 3 rod limit it would be a hard pill to swallow if your used to fishing 6 rods per. Imagine if they wanted to go back to a 2 rod limit right now! More power to you I'm just thinking out loud.

Either one, they both work great. I would'nt have a use for the bluetooth feature but if you have a flybridge boat it could be of use.

Fish Hawk X4 Probe Reminder - Loosen Cap After Use
reeltimebrad replied to pyt212's topic in General Discussion
Never heard of having to loosen the cap and have never had a issue with the probe. I would be more afraid of forgetting to tighten it before the next use and filling it with water than I would be of some pressure related failure at the surface. I think alot of problems arise from leaving probe on rigger bouncing around and banging into the rigger boom and gunnels causing cracks. -

Heavy cannonball, pulley & a rigger
reeltimebrad replied to Mega Byte's topic in Salmon Pro's Connection
FYI your auto stop feature will not work with braided line it cant sense the electrical current break through the braid and will not stop on its own and they are plenty powerful enough to snap that braid right off and send your probe ,pulley, weight and release to the bottom. I commend you on a innovative approach to a nagging issue everyone has but it seems you are complicating things beyond any real world gain. -

Old Cannon fixed base with center screw
reeltimebrad replied to swede428's topic in Equipment Inventions/Modifications
I actually made some out of aluminum and was planning on using them for storing the riggers in a unused compartment of the boat but never did. Only thing is they should probably have a S.S. helicoil as the al. threads would probably wear out over time. -
went 7 for 9 120 ft water 300 cu with f.f was best, low diver with f.f. took a couple and riggers took 2 with spoons. kevorkian s.d. with mirage fly was best.1 king was 24lb. 3 lakers 1 steel rest were kings.
