  1. This is Right in the ball park, for every 100 ft you get about 20 ft in depth.
  2. Ive seen this a lot this year, what has worked for my is to get one to come up , then when it is almost there ,keep jigging and pull it away Very slowly. Normaly they will bite after it is lifted about 2 inches, the key is to "NOT STOP JIGGING" they will bite as you jig..
  3. Ken is right , im around 300 to 350 yrds on the backing.
  4. They are on the old style Okuma lead core rods that you can buy for around 20 buck, the 300 is a little much for them but do's the job.
  5. I would add wire also , and here is another thought , change you riggers to 15 lb line of hi quality, like maxima. I used this for the better part of 15 yrs and loose very few setups, even when running big paddles deep. Just make sure you have GOOD drags. Just my 2 cents.
  6. I also have 6 rods set up with Blood Run ,I use the same backing as ive used on core for years. Witch is 50 braid ,I have Rip Cord now becouse I found it supper cheap in the bargin cave ,to that I have a 30 ft peace of 30lb mono and then the copper, also my 250 and 300ft lengths are on cv55 and the 200s are on 45s. These are also on 7 ft okuma rods.
  7. Great job Jason, a Vexlar is the ONLY way to ice fish.
  8. Nice job Joe.
  9. This comeing thursday I think.
  10. I agree with the Sniffer , Convecter 30d, NO backer ,and 1000 ft of 30# Blood Run 7 strand stainless wire. This is what ive been running for a few years now and have never had any issues.
  11. Nice job Bob , steelhead thru the ice sound like a blast.
  12. Great job Ken , it still looks like you had fun.
  13. I fish mostly out of the Holland area and there realy is no structure to speak of , mostly just a slow taper out to deeper water, As far as your question about trout and steelhead , yes you can target them, the lakers are normaly in that 90 to 120 range and the steelhead , all I can say is clear the peirs , hit the throttle and head west looking for any tipe of temp break and stick with it , ive found them any place from 60 fow all the way out to 300 plus , it just all depends on the weather and wind.
  14. Like Don said , stop by and say hi. Should be a good time.
  15. The mono trick works great, much easier to see any wear. And much easer on the releases.
  16. I will not use dive bomb on copper , because after you place the plastic pin inplace it makes a flat spot on the line. What Ive done to achive greater depth is just to make a loop in the end of one segment and loop the other peace in and twist tite .Ive never had it break .
  17. Bromley is 100% write , tell them EXACTLY what you want and 100 is about right on for the tip.
  18. In late April to early May I run out to 60 fow and set a spread of all spoons, starting with a 7 and 10 color on one side and a full and 12 on the other,{or a 150 thru 300 copper} and 2 riggers with fixed sliders. Also point the bow south south west and dont turn around till you hit Holland . You should find fish some place just north of Port sheldon all the way to Holland ps. its only 11 miles to Port Sheldo from Grand Haven. Or pond the beach for browns with small spoons and bodiebait. But I like plan a better.
  19. Yup what Tony said , ask what ever you wish.
  20. This sounds like fun, I may be interested in doing this again this year if there all out of Holland and the hours are 6am to noon with the 8 rod limet.
  21. Tandems rigs are run by tying a fly on first about 6 to 10 inches above a jig ,or a liter jig above a heavier one. Very effective for picky fish.
  22. Welcome back Ryan.
  23. If my memory serves me correctly , this was a guide slash charter comp. , and if so ,I think that if there is anyone in distress they are required to assist in a rescue.
  24. Great job Tim.
