  3. Also forgot to mention , you do not need to be a member or the Steelheaders to fish this.
  4. Ok, back in the middle of March, I asked a question on who would be interested in a fundraiser tournament to help the Michigan Steelheaders with the 2020 Tribal Negotiation. There seemed to be a lot of interest in this. To read more about the Tribal Negotiations go to www.hollandsteelheaders.org. We have have decided to go thru with it, and I think this will be a lot of fun. Remember this is to raise money. The rules are as follows. Start fishing any time after 6am Fish for what ever species you wish, yes Carp , Sheep Head, Cat Fish, Salmon ,ANYTHING. You may fish with as many rods as you wish and have as many people on you team as long as you abide by all Mi DNR rules and laws. Weigh your biggest 5 fish of ANY species You may fish lake Macatawa or lake Michigan Entry fee is $25 per group whether its 5 guys fishing carp on the bank or a group of guys in a boat trolling The fish must be caught on hook and line, no bow fishing or spearing. and the weigh-in is at 1 pm The weigh in will be held at the fish cleaning station across from the DNR boat ramp in Holland at 1 pm on June 7. The trophy will be awarded to the team with the heaviest 5 fish. There will be a sign up list at www.hollandsteelheaders.org starting tomorrow May 14. For those of you that are interested in donating there is also a place for that .

  6. I pick them up at the sport shows, I'm not sure if any of the stores carry it, if your going to ludington stop into capt chucks , I know he carries a fare amount of minis, or you can get them online from Big Papa Sport Fishing Products.
  7. Normaly some were near 50 degrees, last night the surface was 54 to 56, but 6 down in 15 ft it was 44.
  8. Had to work in the morning so I decided to take a late afternoon/evening boat ride. I left the ramp around 3 with the Eliminator and my good friend Mitch and headed south. we set up in front of the dunes in 15fow,and trolled to Saugatuck and turned back. We pulled lines at 8pm going 20 for 24. 11 browns, 1 nice coho, 1 return steelhead, and 7 shaker kings returned . Here what worked, lol, we haven't changed a bait in 2 weeks.   10. Got a phone call from NO -MO- BEGGIN at lunch time yesterday and asked if I had plans to go fishing after work, my reply, well I do now,LOL. So the two of use and Rogers wife left the dock at 5:15 ish and ran north a couple miles and turned around a trolled south back to the pier eir . and back about a mile. We ended the evening at 7:10 going 13 for 16, with 11 browns 2 small ones released safe, and 2 shaker kings that were bleeding,. Best water was 10 to 12 ft and the speed was 2.5 to 2.7. And this is what worked and the catch.   11. Well its that time of year again. The Holland Steelheaders is hosting the Michigan Steelheaders Challenge again this this yr,. It will be held Saterday May 17 in Holland. This is the largest pay out of any one day tournement on the east side on lake Michigan. It is sponsored again by Community West Credit Union this year and there will be a $2500 first place again also. For those that may be interested you can find all the rules and sign up info at www.hollandsteelheaders.org You must also be signed up by Friday may 16.

  14. Had the day of work, so I got a hold of 3 good friend and we desided to go take advantage of the amazing Brown trout fishing that weave had. I left the ramps at 8:30ish with my good friend Dennis aka Capt Snap., No Mo Beggin, and Somethin Fishy. We set up just to the south a half mile and trolled south to Ovel Beach. We fished mainly 8 to 15 fow and finished the day at about 1 pm going 21 for 2?, with 13 Browns 1 released, 5 small kings 4 shakers released, 1 nice coho, 2 steelhead and a small laker. Chillie Willie All of these were Silver Streak Mini's and a few of the catch As a side note. the best speed by far has been 2.5 on the gps and north has been as good as south.
