You think maybe my SWR rod would work to for the shoot?

Hello Members and Guest, Just like to see all of your best catch of 2006 fishing for salmon or what ever you did the best at. Lets see some picture's and where you happen to catch them at. Here is my best catch in 2006 Yep my two buddies and I was camping at Frankfort early in the morning in August and happen to catch 9 kings and a coho, one king was 20lbs. We fished at 5am and was all done by 6:30am that morning. It was the best time I ever had on Lake Michigan last year. Heck at one time I had 8 rods set up and 7 rods went off at the sametime. What about you all, Cazz

Ok Pro's, I am a pretty good fisherman but for some reason I do not have that much luck catching browns up close to shore. I keep my speed as slow as I can go, I keep my long lines at 80'-120' back behind my board with a 1 oz. sinker. Allso when I am fishing in around 10' of water about how far down do you run your downriggers and how far back from the ball do you go with your lure. I usally go back 40-60' behind the balls and 5-7 foot down on the riggers. I had better luck with my older boat but for some reason my newer boat I am having more problem catching spring browns. Please help me out, Cazzzz

Hey you pro's, I like to know where these bigger kings or any of the salmon are like in April when everyone is fishing for browns. Lots of times I maybe having no luck fishing for browns and try and go out deeper like in 80' of water to see if anything would happen. Well I do mark some fish but they are really deep and will not bite. Has anyone before gone way out for them and had any luck catching salmon before. Cazzzzzzz

Hey Members, So are you fishing with 30# mono on your dipsy's still. I have been fishing with 30# mono for about 15 years and man did it ever suck. When I had my dipsy's set back 200-250 feet back and wanted to release my dipsy just to check out my bait or just change my lure's, it was really hard to release my dipsy all the time. Allso when I used mono I notice I would loose alot of fish because I think the mono just streched out so much. Well my fishing buddy Sarah C just kept going on and on that Id better go with spiderwire because that didn't strech and would release my dipsy so much easier when I had it back so far. Well let me tell you something, it really works better than mono. I noticed that I had better hook ups and caught more fish than I did when I use to use mono and you don't have to have your dipsy set back to go deeper because spiderwire will not strech. Well if you want to use spider wire on your dipsy's this is what you have to do. Go to your favorite tackle shop and go get you a spool of 150yards of 50# steath spiderwire. You can keep all your mono on your reel still for backing. But you will have to take off about 150 yards of your mono off your reel because you need to put back on your reel 150 yards of spiderwire on your dipsy reel. I had alot of luck with spiderwire than I ever did when I use to use mono. So give it a try this year and catch more fish. Caznik

Hello Members, This is the new sign up thread because of some changes this year. Sunday July 22nd at Fishermans Landing at Muskegon. Blow Date Is: Sunday July 29th NO CHATER CAPTAINS Well its about that time to sign up and get your reservations ready to camp and have a great time fishing this fun event. Once again I am holding the Dreamweaver Challange and if you are new at this challange this is how it works. Dreamweaver is giving all of us that like to sign up to take this competition fun fishing event a great deal on there lures once again. Now you can use any kind of fishing rod you like in the event, even your favorite dipsey for your dipsey rods. But the only lures and flashers that you can use is what Shane from Dreamweaver is going to send us. I do not pick out the colors myself. Alot of the colors are either new colors or the old good stuff that we all like and allways use. What I do is tell Shane from Dreamweaver that my fishing event will be held at Muskegon and he will find out what he think is best for all of us. Looks like this year by the poll that I had everyone do for me that was in this event last year voted on three different lure packages and the one lure package that we will all have is 3 Reg. size spoons, 4 Mag. spoons, 2 Spin doctors, and 2 flies. Just remember this is the only lures you can use for the whole day out fishing. If you lose any kind of lure out of your package than you are out of luck. You cannot get another lure out of your box and use it. The only thing that you can change if you like is the fishing line on the flies. Also there is no tape changes on the lures to. I will be holding a pre fishing tournament to the day before the event. This will be just a big fish event and a get together after the event. But I will have a seperate thread later on for that. I sure hope you will do this again and hope that if you are new at this you will give this a try also. I really like to get at least 20-30 boats in this. Here is the NEW cost of the lures: Reg. Spoons- $2.69 x 3= $8.07 Mag. Spoons- $2.91 x 4= $11.64 Spin Doctors- $6.29 x 2= $12.58 Fly's- $2.69 x 2= $5.38 Cost for lures- $ 37.64 Additional cost for plaque and certified mail- $1.36 Lure package all together will be for you- $ 39.00 Shane will also donated a lure package and 4 Dreamweaver T- shirts to who ever wins this year. Once I get everyone to sign up I will give you all PM's and will give you my address so you can send me the check for your lures. Fishing Event Rules: 1- Must pay entry fee at 4:30am(If you cannot make it and you think that you will be late than please call my cell phone) 2- All fishing events start at 5 am and must pull lines at 11am. 3- Weigh in starts at 12:30(If you get called two times at the weigh in and you are not there. You will be DQed. 4- Cost is $15.00 a boat.($5.00 of it gos towards big fish) 5- - All boats must only use 6 rods 6- 2-4 Man teams(If you have 4 or more fishermen in your boat as a team you can only catch a 3 MAN LIMIT) 7- Weigh in 5 fish of any kind (salmon, coho, steelheads, browns, and lakers) 8- Each fish you bring in at the weigh in is 10 points each.(Up to 5 fish) 9- Make sure when you weigh your big fish for the big fish prize money that you know what fish is your biggest.(NO CHECKING AT THE SCALES) 10- NO - CULL RULE- If you net the fish or box the fish you must keep the fish. There will be no more throwing back fish or less they are under size. If you limit out on kings you might as well go in, because you are most likley to get kings most of the time anyways. Remember your fish counts as 10 points now and it does not matter what fish you get. 11- All captains that fish any event must sign a waiver form before they fish any event. 12- If you do not show up for the event, your lure package will be donated as a prize at the Dreamweaver Challange, and your money will not be refunded. Or less you have a really good reason for not being able to make it. 2006 Dreamweaver Winner (Team Zeboy) 2007 Dreamweaver Challangers: 1- Caznik (glf) 2- Sarah C (glf) 3- Trout Tracker (ms) 4- Plumcrazy (glf) 5- GLF (glf) 6- Cafishhoge (ms) 7- Midway97 (ms) 8- Minnow (glf) 9- Sea-mac (glf) 10- Dirty Dog (glf) 11- Sixshooter (ms) 12- paulywood (glf) 13- Duckman 1 (ms) 14- Hunt4ever (ms) 15- Huntingfool43 (ms) 16- Rat City Hooker (ms) 17- Bluedevil (ms) 18- Adjusted3 (ms) 19- the8point (glf) 20- Arch Angel (ms) 21- dajumboman (ms) 22- marrble eyes (ms) 23- thefishdog (ms)

The use of RED in fishing.
caznik replied to Walleye Express's topic in Great Lakes Fishing Discussion
I use Maxima fiber glow and that is red fishing line and I took 2nd place in the fishing league last year in point chapionship...... I think it works great and I can see it better at night when setting up my lines. Rich -
Go with 5 footers so it will keep your spread away from each other riggers. Just add another foot section.

Hello members and guest, Just thought that I'd let you all know that this is my favorite place to go fishing and just relax in the summer for vaction. Well the place is Frankfort Michigan, its a great place to go fishing, camping, and canoing down the Platte river. I usally go in mid July and also in August and thats when I think it is the best time to go fishing for salmon on Lake Michigan. There is plenty of places to stay and camp at there. My favorite place to camp at there is at the Betsi river camp ground and my favorite place to stay at a motel is at the R@R motel. Both places are like only 3 miles from the boat launch. The boat launch is really nice with a very nice fish cleaning station there, but you better get there early if you want to get on the lake early because it can get really busy and you want to get on before the sun rises because the fishing is very hot there. The restraunts there are very nice places to eat also. There is the Cabbage shed, Dingy's bar, and there is also two very nice places to get very good icecream in Frankfort. But my best place to eat is at Boons Long Lake Inn at Travers City. Well hope that you will try this place sometime and let me know what you think of this great place to take a vacation at. If you like some more info please give me a PM and I will let you know any other info that you will need. Thought that Id take out two of my buddies at work to go ice fishing at a private lake called Lower Lake in Barry county today. Well the fishing was really great today with a catch of 75 really nice bluegills for three fishermen. The weather was really bad and windy today and cold. But thanks to Sarah C for letting us use his ice tent tonight it made things go alot better for us. The hot hooks for us was blue, orange, and green moon glows. The hot bait for us was wax worms. The ice conditions was at least 3-4 inches this weekend. Well hope the weather turns out better for the rest of you fishermen so you can give it a try. Sounds like it going to be pretty cold for about five days. Good luck to all, Caznik

Thought Id go fishing at Lower Lake in Barry Co. this morning after church today. The ice conditions was fair with 2-3 inches of ice. But the fishing was really slow there. I took home 15 nice gills and marked alot of fish. I tried mousies, spikes, and wax worms and nothing really worked better than the other bait. Well thats about all I had going today out ice fishing. Hope you had better luck than I did and good luck if you go out. Caznik
