Hello Member's, Well I took my dad and mom out to Port Sheldon for a Lake Michigan fishing trip this morning. We started fishing in 90' of water and headed out west and took our first fish on full core out 130'. Went out to 140' and turned around because of alot of other fishermen out there catching and marking more fish up close. As we turned around and got in 100' of water we took another hit of the same full core rod and lost it. Then about 20 minutes later we took a really nice hit on my dipsey rod set back at 170 on 3 with a blue bubble spin doctor and a blue caznik fly and lost that one to. Well from 5:30am till 11:00am we ended up 2 for 4 and was pretty slow fishing for us. We had nothing go at all on any of my riggers this morning. But I must say that there was a few other fishermen that was fishing this morning up really close and doing very good. In 60-100' of water seemed to be the place to fish for those guys. Well looks like I will give it a try next weekend and hope it will be much better for me then. So I hope you all get a chance and get out the rest of this weekend and have lots of luck. Happy fathers day, Cazzzzz My best lure of the day Stinger Stingray that i do not know the name of.

Frank, Trust me they will kick you out. I been there and done that before. You will be better off to camp at fishermans landing at the tent section. Its only $15 and it has a fish cleaning staion and great showers. You have to give out a $20 bill for the card to get in the camp to. But you get that back when you go home. here is the site: http://www.passport-america.com/campgrounds/united_states/michigan/muskegon/fishermans_landing_launch_and_campground/Default.asp Make your reservations now Rich

caznik replied to Lef T's topic in Michigan Waters Fishing Reports - Salmon and Trout
I just wondered if you ever check out the temp chart on Lake Michigan on this site. I just looked at it and its telling me that the water temp rolled over at Port Sheldon. I allways check it out but just seems its never right because it allways cloudy. Its like reading 40-50 deg right now. I sure hope so then I'd fish up close. Cazzzz -

need a port to fish fri?
caznik replied to stillfish's topic in Michigan Waters Fishing Reports - Salmon and Trout
I haven't been out much myself. But last weekend Port Sheldon was the place to be out fishing. Give Plumkrazy a PM and find out where he went and how he caught so many fish. He did really good fishing there. But if you haven't ever fished at Port Sheldon make sure you follow someone out of Piegin Lake. It get shallow in some areas and it will be much safer the first time out. Check with Plumkrazy and Sea-mac to see if maybe you can meet them at the launch to follow them. They are great guys that will help out anyone anytime. Just a thought, Caznik -

That would be fine with me but in my boat I am the only one that has a crew that doesn't have a boat to fish on Lake Michigan. But if anyone that has a crew that like to get in it and gets a NITRO will be fine with me. I will post something about it. Rich -

West Michigan's Fishing League's Pre Fishing Fun Tournament
caznik replied to caznik's topic in West Michigan Fishing League
Mike, I was just going to have Gold Coast pick out whatever spoons they like to get. I just got off the phone with Rob at Mich. Stinger and he told me what has been the hot nitros. I will have Gold coast get; Twister blue moon Et blue wonder bread green fireball nitro pox area 51 They will be at the counter and you just have to ask to buy one of the lures saved for the pre fishing tournament. Rich Ps; The more fishermen then i can get probly one of each of them -
Getting back at this question, Paying attention behind the wheel of a boat is very important yes. There is times that I take people out fishing that has gone with me before or rookies fishing on weekends in my boat. I found out there is no way of teaching your new crew every trick fishing on lake Michigan fishing for salmon. But there is things that must be told to your driver of the boat what you need to have done to catch fish and enjoy fishing. #1- Tell your new driver to pay very close attention to other boats that are in front of you. Make sure you dont cut them off or run into them. You also have to tell them at all times you must be on the defensive side driving the boat. Not everybody out there driving other boats pay attention to. About five years ago I took my wifes cuzzin out fishing and he never pays attention and allmost learned his leason. We was fishing at Manistee and came very close hitting another boat trolling. Of corse I got yelled at by the other captain fishing out there. #2- Try and get your crew over and visit at your house the day before you go out fishing to try and teach them what you like them to do with your GPS. A- Speed- Teach your crew how to use the speed lever on your boat.(Reverse and forward) Most boats are different on the speed levers because some are hard to move and others are easy and allways seem to lose the speed you like to have. Tell them what speed you need to have going with the waves and against the waves and make sure they know that they can go ahead and change it if have to by allways looking at the GPS speed. B- Just leave the cordnace alone for the first time and teach your crew that the second time out. Like you all know some GPS take time to learn how to use. I just tell my new crew to pick a point on the water and aim for that. C- Water depth is important also, Make sure you show your crew where the depth number is on your fish finder and the bottom line. Tell them what depth you like them to stay in. It is much easier for me to tell them to watch the depth number and the bottom line where the bottom is. Tell them to really watch the bottom. When it starts going up and making it shallower then you have to let them know to go ahead and turn out. Its the same when the bottom line is going down to makes sure that they turn in. D- Emergencies- What if something ever happen to you as a captain. Will your crew know what to do and how to bring everything back up, such as your fishing gear. Depending on the emergency, you may have to tell or teach a few things how to bring up stuff. Even where the wire and clippers are to cut everything just in case if it becomes really bad. Yes you may loose money by doing this but coming back home to your family safe is more important to me than my fishing stuff that I have spent alot of money on. 1- Paying attention behind the wheel 2- Speed 3- Depth 4- Emergencies These are the most important things for me to let new fishermen know what to do with. Every other time you take them out again. Just test them again and see if they remember the first things and then teach them one more thing that you like them to know what to do. You just cannot teach a new fishermen every trick fishing on the big lakes in one day. The most important thing I like to do is. To make sure that they allways have a good time and never yell at them. If you yell at them you may loose and fishing partner forever. Tournaments: Oh ya tournament fishing can be a yelling match between crews fishing together. The best thing to do is if you want to start fishing those most exspensive tournaments is get a crew together and fish for one year and teaching them everything. Then after that first year you and your crew should be a very good fishing team. Your crew will and should know everything about what you want and know how to fish on the big lakes. Remember- The most important thing for me is to make sure your crew has a good time fishing and not to yell at them. But if they are messing around and just dont care about your stuff and others out on the big lake. Then you better sit with them and have a calm talk to them. Gotta run i have a DBLE, Captain Cazzz

Hey John, Where ya been? Have you been out fishing or racing the most of the time. I use to have a 73 Cuda also with a 440 six pack in it and use to race at Martin with it and did pretty good. Now my 69 Ford Fairlain with the 460 in it was much faster and I happen to win alot more with that car. After getting married and having two kids, I was forced to sell them both. Also was a chick magnet also. lots of hot babes every weekend, Cazzzz:D

Gold coast is going to make an order of them. I don't know what is hot or what is not. If you know maybe I can let them know what and try and get. Otherwise I was just going to have them pickem out. Rich -
Member's, What I am looking for is a sign that I can stick on my back window of my truck for advertising for my deer processing. I am looking for something that looks nice and cool. Also something that can come off when I am done using it and when I want it back on that I can put it back on my window again. If anyone knows of a web site or a place please let me know about it. Thanks, Rich

West Michigan's Fishing League's Pre Fishing Fun Tournament
caznik replied to caznik's topic in West Michigan Fishing League
Yes, When you come in for the weigh in then you go in the store and get your stinger spoon. If I have to work Saturday then you will have to get your lure before you go out fishing in the afternoon. Gold coats and I have a agreement if it happens to get canceled that they will just put the lures on there shelf to be sold. Otherwise as soon as I find out how many boats are in it then I have to call up gold coast to let them know how many they have to order. You can only buy your Stinger lures at Gold Coast because they are letting us have the weigh in there and clean fish there also. Rich
