  7. Some of us might not know what to do just in case your boat happens to fail on any of the great lakes. Normally I make sure I have another buddy go the sametime as I do when I go fishing just in case him or I have boat problems or I check on the web site to see if anyone like to gang up on some fish so you have help just in case to. Well what if you don't have help and you don't know anyone out there to help you out, then what do you do. I have not had this problem yet and don't want to. But do you try and call the coast gaurd for help and on what channel and what do you say when you call them. I was told the coast guard will not tow no more unless you have a crew or your self is really stressed out and paniking. Help me Mayday Mayday, Caznik
  8. Member's, Have you ever had this happen to you when going to your spot fishing. Last year I was going fishing at Muskegon and when I got on highway 6 I blew a tire on my trailer. Man did that suck because it really messed up my fendar on my trailer and I like to keep my stuff in good shap. Well after I changed that tire I made it to Muskegon and had a great fishing trip and limited out. Sea-mac and I was going home and blew my second tire and had no more spare at all. Oh did that ever suck with no more spares left. Well I called my buddy from Hastings and he drove all the way over to help me out by bring his spare. I really learned my lesseon with trailer tires that day. So make sure you keep that air pressure up at all times and allways check the air pressure before you go on a fishing trip. When I baught my two new tires, I went with 6 plies and not the 2 plies what the dealer had on them. So the next time you get your selfs new tires. Make them the best ply tires that you can find. The best guy to talk about tires would be DV8OR. He is my tire man now, Caznik

  10. Hello, Well I use to use dawia level wind fishing reels for salmon fishing but they kinda slowly just fell apart and was forced to buy some new gear last year. Well last year I went with Okuma Convectors and I seemed to really like them reels alot, but I did have a few problems with them and the tackle shop where I baught them was very nice to replace them with no hassles. I use the CV30D's for my rigger reels with 20# mono and the CV45D's for my dipsy rods and my full core rods. The only thing I wish they had on them better was a faster gear than they do now. But the big handles on them reels I like alot. This is what they look like: Well what kind do you like better, Caznik
  11. Hello Member's, Well lets talk about the types of cannon balls you like to use while fishing on the great lakes. I know there are lots of different kinds of cannon balls that are out there, so whitch ones do you like better and tell us all why. Please if you can, take a picture and show us what they look like because just maybe some members might not know. Well my favorite ones to use is the shark balls on the side riggers. Just because the sharks has tails on them that you can bend so your cannon balls can go further to the side of your spread. But right now I just use plain 12# balls that I make on my own with the mold that I baught at a garage sale. I use to use 8# balls the first time, then went to 10# balls, but both of them balls was not heavy enough and kept my cable going out to far behind the boat. Now I use 12# balls and like them very well and they seem to keep my rigger cables down below the boat more. If I can only find a 12# shark cannon ball then I would use that for my side riggers and go with my 12# regular cannon balls that I allways make up for my back riggers. The yellow cannon ball at the top of my picture is called the shark and that is what I use to use long time ago. But its only a 10# ball and it will not go down enough for me like the 12# balls do. The white cannon ball at the bottom of my picture is what I make for myself and that is a 12# ball and works very good because it keeps my cables running straight down better. Now make sure you check with your downrigger dealer to make sure that you can use a 12# cannon ball before you try it. Well lets see what you like to use and why, Caznik
  12. Thats right, its a bean fiels and they just love to eat it up I see. Cazzzz
  13. Well I been off from work for about a week now and thought I'd sit by the fence line to see if there was any deer coming out to feed in the bean feild. About 7:30pm is when they all started coming out and look what I seen. There is a nice buck and two other smaller ones out in the feild on Sunday. If you look to the right of the bigger buck there looks like maybe a six point there also. Went out last night and sat again by the fence line and seen the big one again. I beleave it could be a 9 point if you can see all the points. Now this is what I been trying to a picture of. I been seeing alot of baby deer out in the feild and wanted to take some pictures of them. Well last night I seen this one come out. But get this it didn't come out with its mommy but this next deer that I am about to show you. Here is a buck that came out right behind the baby deer. I wonder if this a doe with horns or what. Hope you enjoy the pictures, Caznik

    Smoke Pigs Leg

Things you need to smoke a pigs leg- 1 pigs leg that has the bone, injector to inject the brine, sure cure for the brine, a sharp knife to trim off the fat off the leg, brown surgur, internal temp guage, and honey. 1- Trim all fat off your pigs leg and mix up your brine. Put 1 gallon of water to one package of sure cure. 2- Take your injector and start injecting your pigs leg with your brine. Do it alot to get in the meat really good. 3- Take your pigs leg and put it into a clean bucket with your brine. Fill the bucket up the rest of the way so your pigs leg will be covered. Then put it in your fridge for 4-5 days. 4- Take your pigs leg out of the bucket and put it on the counter to dry off. 5- Mix up your flavoring with 1 cup of brown surgur and 1 cup of honey. Soon as the pigs leg get dried off some than take your flavoring and wipe it all over your pigs leg. 6- Drill a hole in the bone of the leg and hang it in your smoker. 7- Start the smoker up and set at 170deg. Use hickory chips for the smoke and stick your internal temp gauge in your pigs leg. Deep into the meat where it is most meaty. 8- Smoke your pigs leg for 6 hours and then coat it again with your flavoring.(Make sure your water pan is allways full) 9- After you get your flavoring on it again. Smoke for another 6 hours. You may have to turn up the heat a bit if its not done at 12 hours. Otherwise you will be like I was and stayed up till 4am. My pigs leg took me 16 hour before the internal temp reached the 160deg mark. 10- Just make sure your water pan is allways full and the pigs leg reaches the internal temp of 160deg. After I smoked it, I put it into the fridge and left it in over night. Just today I cut off a piece and it was very good. Here is a web site where you can get your cure at. http://www.butcher-packer.com/pages-main/category-12/curing-salt.html?zenid=6e8d4ec20d6b4a4568b331e72a93ad37 You will have to give it a try someday, Caznik
