  1. As promised. Thanks Stinger, Pro Troll, Witchcraft Tape, and Church Tackle!

  3. First off the trollers book is wrong. They let the line out while the boat is moving really fast during the test, and then slow the boat down to speed and record the value once it "settles in". Letting the copper out at trolling speeds will allow the copper to sink quicker and then settle in at a deeper depth. Splice a small segment of 30# mono as a shock leader and to clip the board to and you will not have any false releases if the clip is in good shape. Power pro is hard on the church releases and tears them up. Mark and replace the bad ones, lots of the ones I see with tears in the rubber material need to be replaced. I've seen PP break too many times in those releases too. Use the adjustable keel to place the boards where you want them in your spread. 200-300+ coppers +2 keel setting. 150-200 copper +1 setting, and so on.
  4. Congrats guys, who won? Top 5? Thanks!
  5. Will do. The spoons will arrive in about a week, the flashers are all on back order until December. I'll post a pic of all the booty though;) It was a real nice order. Thanks to Stinger for their sponsorship in the 333.
  6. I usually use leftover grilled salmon. Should be good with smoked or canned salmon but I have not tried it. You could probably use raw ground or chopped salmon since you are cooking the burger.
  7. 2c cooked chopped salmon 1/4c pork sausage 1/4c green pepper, finely diced 1/4c onion finely diced 1/4c celery finely diced 1egg 2tbs parsley 2tbs mayo 1/8 t garlic salt 1/4c Italian breadcrumbs Sauté onions, celery, green peppers, and sausage SLIGHTLY. Mix these together with the rest of the ingredients. Patties should be almost to moist to handle. Dredge patties in additional breadcrumbs. Fry in oil until golden brown 8 to 10 min. Reheats very well. Try slightly more or hot sausage for a zestier patty.
  8. Thanks guys ordered $500 stuff today! Thanks for your suggestions!
  9. We were out there as well on Tommy's boat, started in 140 fow, hit a nice steelhead on a blue j-plug 225 copper. Couple of kings at 120 fow 35-50 down on riggers at dark, missed 1 other on moonshine spoons. That sail ship was cool out there, nice night on the water.
  10. What are your best size / color Stinger product? Have a certificate to burn and want to try some new stuff. Thanks. Spoon? Stingray Area 51, lemon ice, carmel dolphin Flasher? Carmel dolphin 8", Mt dew 8" Prochips
  11. Things are fine the way they are. These individual tourneys are a blessing for the community and local clubs. Most dish out 100+% cash and prizes and put on a heck of a show for us fisher people. They raise monies for charity, donate fish, and get involved in the fishery. If you are not involved with these clubs like the Steelheaders and you are complaining about all this shame on you. We're honest as a team and can compete with that. Most if not all guys are honest I believe. It's a small community and generally the truth will come out. We hear things and can't control that, so we just look out for ourselves. The rules are the rules that we all have to follow. The rules of 10 fish no cull was supposed to draw more participation and protect the fishery. Most guys don't catch a limit or 10 fish every time out so that's what makes this fun. There's not enough money to make any really. A couple wins in a season and you might have some money to upgrade or party a bit, and if you don't win the $$$ goes down fast. I like 9 rods, open communication, catch 15 weigh 10, bonus points for trout was cool. Keep it simple, no log sheets, everyone drops their cooler at weigh in, everyone leaves from the same port. Sounds like maybe you guys should have entered and won some prizes. Saugatuck is this weekend and there's always next year. .
  12. We stay on big fish when we find them. Usually it is as much as a program and troll as a location. Very few fish were weighed for the 333 Sat as well. We would have won the 333 too if we entered 3 fish. We came in 3rd weighing only 2 since Sunday was cancelled.
  13. Congrats guys! Great tournament for sure, they did a bang up job!
  14. They are nice for copper. We have a dozen of them and still have a few eyelets pop off, but that is why we bought them locally so we can make quick warranty equipment changes when things break. The triangle handle seemed goofy to me too, but is really more grippaple and it helps hold the reel upright better than a round handle, and that is especially nice for kids and newbs. Price is right too, buy a couple spares.
  15. I have a certificate for Pro-Troll products $250 certificate for $ 170.00 if you are interested let me know. That's $80 in free product! [email protected]
  16. Congrats on the win! http://www.ludingtondailynews.com/news/50874-offshore-classic-preliminary-winner-withdraws-after-protest The unofficial champion of the Ludington Offshore Classic’s pro division has withdrawn from the event in the face of an official protest. Best Chance Too Captain Dave Engel said he felt like his team did everything within the sprit of the rules during the event, but after a meeting with three people representing the tournament Monday, he and co-captain Bill Bale believed withdrawing from the event was the best thing to do for all involved. “There was some guys on another boat who thought we were being over-aggressive landing fish,†Engel said. “They questioned our observer and he said we probably were on a few, they questioned that we didn’t get the net fast enough on some little fish. It was a ‘he said, she said, they said’ kind of thing and it kind of seemed to us like it was a done deal. We said ‘if you guys don’t think we did it right, we’ll just withdraw from the tournament.’†Tournament rules state “Any intentional act, such as, but not limited to, shaking off, breaking off, burning off, etc. fish will subject team to disqualification.†The Ludington Offshore Classic tournament committee and Ludington and Scottville Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement on the matter: “Out of respect for all those who participated in the Ludington Offshore Classic as well as for the tournament committee and the fishing community, the Pro Division boat Best Chance Too, has withdrawn from the 2010 tournament. Official protests had been filed against this boat, however due to their withdrawal no investigation was completed. As a result the new winner of the 2010 Pro Division is Z-1 and all other winners in the Pro Division moved up one place in the ranking and payouts.†Z-1 of Lakeport, Michigan was the day one leader with a 12-fish catch of 133.10 pounds and followed with a day two catch of 11 fish and 118 pounds.
  17. Congrats on 2nd place and the 333 win Scott and team!
  18. Fished 7-10 pm last night with Tom and my son. Started in 130 fow and trolled in to 100 fow. Marked the most in 65 fow and went 3 for 4 in there with 2 real nice kings. One hit a green/glow mag pro king on a 200 copper, and the other was a rigger 40 down with a orange glow mag streak. My 6 year old had the camera and took some pix for us.
  19. Won a few Pro King packages last year fishing and had hundreds of dollars of Pro Kings brand new lying around in packages and hadn’t used them. Decided to run a Pro King only spread in St Joe and we really whacked the fish. Saturday in the fog we followed a boat with radar SW to 130 FOW and set up on a WSW troll. We got a few fish early and the water temp dropped to 50 degrees on surface as we passed into 200 FOW. We trolled out to 239 FOW before we decided to reverse out track and head back towards port at some point. We never saw another boat until we got back into 170 fow and the fog had cleared some. #2006 was great on the riggers 45-80 down for kings, especially early on. http://www.prokingspoons.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=46&Itemid=55# #2049 and 135 was smoking hot on the half core and 75 copper. Coho candy! We landed 10 coho on these rods. http://www.prokingspoons.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=47&Itemid=54 #2045 did well on the 200-250 coppers later in the day on kings and ho’s. Sunday we only fished until 10am and boated 11 fish. We fished straight out from 75 to 170 fow and then back to 100 fow when we pulled them. #2006 and #2045 were studs on riggers and 200 coppers. Diver with white paddle green fly took off Sun as well on a wire diver set to 1.5 120-170 back.
  20. Fished last night with my dad, 6 year old son, and buddy Rob from 7-9pm. Motored SW out to 130 fow and saw a real nice temp break. Kept going out to 150 fow and set up with a SW troll. Got 3 nice kings in the boat with my son landing his first, a 9 lb king. Once we hit the warmer water inside 130 fow the bite dried up. We turned around in 100 fow and as soon as we hit 130fow we hit fish until we finished up in 200 fow. Best bait was MS Cyclonite 50-70 down on the rigger. 200 and 250 coppers were hot too with mag GD and mag Pro king half green / half glow. Caught fish on everything except the Stingray NBK on a 150 copper . Went 12 for throwing back 4 shaker kings.
  21. Nice work and thx for the report Terry. We had a nice king get off too. They are charging the boat so be ready to reel faster.
  22. Just make sure you are using a large enough wires too, follow the installation instructions.
  23. Thanks guys, great trip in the new boat. Ken, does your signature mean you don't want to hang with me anymore?
  24. Hit the water with Karl and Rob last night. Lake was beautiful. Water temps were mid-upper 40's all over. Perch piles in 40 fow off the bubbler. Nothing in tight so we bumped out to 50-60 fow a little south. Ended up 4 for 6 mixed bag. Nice king rip on a blue whale near the bottom. Took Rob out a quick 200', charged the boat and got off. Nice Laker on a blue bubble diver 120 back. This set up took another nice rip as well. Coho on a flat lined blue J11. 2.8 mph and faster took hits. South troll worked best. After dark we poked around and caught my first sheldon walleye and a pike. Walleye hit a silver shad #7 60 back. Pike hit a HJ12 black silver 80' back. 1.5 mph Great night to be out. should only get better from here.
