rods moving up and down is normal with the waves. I only pull up to a 250 copper on the 22's. When i use over 250 copper i switch to the tx44 board. Its a bigger board that can stand the pull of the longer copper. You may already know this but if you ajust the weight on the bottom of the board forward they will haul the heavier copper a little better. hope this helps

I was running that same water that day. Glad we didn't hit it. Sorry about your boat. We got skunked in the shallow water in front of the project. I wanted to run out deep cuz there was three boats hanging right in that 100-120 fow area in front of the project.

I have some but they all need minor repairs such as cleaning and new drags. If that not a problem I would be willing to get rid of them. Drags are usually only five to ten bucks to get repaired

There is still a huge wall of ice that extends out into about 5 fow off the shoreline. But it was just nice to see a couple fish after this crazy winter we endured.

Fished 4pm til 7pm one steelhead and one brown. Steelhead came inside the harbor along the south wall, brown came on the north shoreline in 15 fow. Steelhead came on a fire tiger countdown rapala. Brown to a black and silver jointed floating rapala. First trip of the year and the boat ran great.

Great lakes holders. We purchased a set for my dads boat and we both love them. They have three holders on each tree plus one holder that goes straight up at the top. very strong construction. ONly thing is is the angle of the holders are fixed, not ajustable. when not in use the base swivels around to point all the rods forward or straight back. I believe the website is greatlakesholders.com the diver holders are rock solid as well and easy to use. Forgot to mention they have the lowest prices too

Torpedo 7 strand wire. 3 seasons. No major issues

loop the band around the line twice. One wrap will let them band slide on the line sometimes. Open the clasp on the blacks release and place the loop in the rubber band into the clasp. close the clasp and your fishing. I run straight blacks release. They take some getting used to as far as setting the tension. Like matt said tho, "they are stupid proof." The only complaint i have is when i twist the line four times around and put the mono in the release, after a while i get permanent twist in my mono. checked the swivle and it seems to work fine. Maybe just old crappy mono is my problem. I think blacks are under 10 bucks.

Watching the salmon showdown on t.v. makes me miss summer and fishing the big lake. Its funny how i wasnt the only one who was struggling to find kings last summer. Even the pro guys on salmon showdown are having trouble finding kings early in the year. Hope frankfort heats up for the kings a little faster this year.

Cannot help you hear. I usually do not run spin doctors on copper and core. Just spoons and plugs. I have not had much luck with it, and its a pain to reel in. My spin docs always go on riggers and divers.

I forgot to mention the Moonshine blue flounder pounder. like 1 mainiac said i also have at least one in the water. i have one regular and one with UV tape on it. Both catch fish.

You could put a slide diver below a rigger. Just gotta have a strong release. Seems like to much of a pain. They probly meant a fixed or free slider.

All summer Rigger diver. 3.White spindoctor with flat uv glow tape with a moo moo or blue moo meat rig. 4.Carmal dolphine spoon, modified blue dolphine spoon, mixed vegie spoon. 5.Dreamweaver capt choice cut plug starting in late august. Natural glow, green latter back and blue and green splatter back. These plugs hammered the coho in platte bay last august and september.

i store the boat at a friends house near the launch. Beats having to tow it 16 miles to frankfort from honor.

i believe silver horde has a new plug out called the upside under model. It is all the same patterns and design but the paint and and design are on the bottom of the plug. Salmon only see up and to the side. So the idea is the fish is seeing the bottom of the lure more than the top so they put they paint and design on the bottom. I do not have any but will be purchasing some this spring. My favs are the siver hords and dream weaver cut plug in green and blue splatterback glow.

I fish the pere marquette manistee and the betsie rivers. I know the pere marquette the best. All three are great rivers, and all three full of steel right now. The only problem is they are outside of their banks right now due to all the rain. When the water levels start coming down "hopefully friday", the fishing will improve.

All of the above responses are great. The fishing was very slow this year. We were not catching many kings at all in frankfort until August. One thing that improved my fishing in the last two years is the use of Florocarbon leader. (pardon the spelling) For my downrigger uni knot six feet of it to my mono on the reel. For divers i use 25 pound suffix. For my copper and lead cores i use 25 feet of 20 pound test. You may already be doing this but if not try it. I feel it has realy helped me. As far as the spinny and fly go i do not have a combination that works all the time. One that performed this year was a Dreamweaver spin doctor called "showtime" with a "blue fairways" fly. I do not wash my baits. Be sure to change speeds if fish are not hitting. I do not own a fish hawk speed and temp sensor. I watch my pull on the divers and sway back on the down rigger cables. I know where they are and when they usually catch fish, so i ajust my speed to where i feel they are correct. Run the snubber behind the diver. I am in no means a pro at this, but i was having the same problem you are 5 years ago. I read books, watch videos, and chat on sites like this. I also fish 3 to 5 times a week because i am fortunate to live on the west side and fish the ports of Frankfort, Manistee, and Ludington. Stick with it and never stop learning.

A lot of guys when setting up a wire diver reel will put all 1000 feet of wire on the reel. The wire is expensive so what i do is buy one 1000 ft spool or wire and put 500 feet on each reel. You will need to conect the wire to some mono backing via a simple knot. Fill the reel a good ways with mono then put your 500 ft of wire on. Do the same with the other reel. Just make sure you have plenty of mono on the reel so the spool fills up when you add the wire, otherwise your counter on the reel will be off. counters are designed to work with the spool full. This may seem cheap to some people, but why do you need 1000 ft of wire on one reel.

with the tx 22s the best advice i could give is no matter what lenght of copper you are running, set the weight on the bottom all the way to the front. This helps keep the front of the board in the water with all the weight of the copper line. I hated the copper at first but once you figure it out it really does catch fish. Good luck
