Fished from about 7:30 until 10 pm tonight straight of of port. Set up in 90 and worked out to 120 and the back in. Ended up 8/9 with 6 kings and 2 coho. Biggest three ranged from about 17-22 lbs. Rest of the fish were in the 5-12 lb range. SSE troll and NNW troll were best. Speed from 1.8 - 2.8 took hits. Downrigger with moonshine orange flounder took 2 fish. Downrigger with moonshine green jeans took 2 fish 150 copper with moonshine double trouble took 2 hits. Diver back 125 with kevorkian spin doctor and poofster fly took 1 fish. 300 copper with stinger blue dolphin took 1 fish. 250 copper with moonshine flounder pounder took 1 fish.

Bummer on no bites! Half our bites came before 7 am. The rest were spread out over the rest of the morning - 7 to 12. Was a great day to be on the water. The clouds rolling in helped our decision to stay out longer.

Found a few scattered fish. Fished from 90-200 fow and went 5/8. 2 coho, 1 nice king, 1 3 lb king, and 2 nice lake trout. Lost three smaller fish on coppers No pattern depth lure speed was consistent.

Fished from 7 until 10. Started in 120 fow by the sliders and bumped out into 150-160 going south. Turned around at Saugatuck and went north. Went 4/7. SSE and NNW trolls took all hits. 2.2-2.7 at the ball. 300 Copper. Blue Dolphin. 10 lb steelhead. 400 Copper. 8" chrome paddle and meat rig. 19 lb king. Mag Diver 185 ft. 8" Mt Dew Paddle and fly. Miss. 400 Copper. Stingray Michigan Dolphin. 22 lb king. Mag Diver 195 ft. 8" green paddle and meat rig. Miss. 400 Copper. Stingray Michigan Dolphin. 10 lb king. Rigger 55 ft. Double sided glow mag spoon. Miss.

Made a late decision to check out the lake this afternoon. Made it to the launch at 7 and after making my out onto the big lake and into 125 fow managed to set lines at 8 pm (after snapping my first downrigger cable and sending a 12 lb ball to the bottom). Fished until 9:30 and went 3/5 with a 20 lb king and 2 steelhead around 8 lbs. Working downrigger at 75 ft - green jeans flasher fly - steelhead Mag diver back 200 - pro king chrome flasher and green fly - bite and then gone. Mag diver back 200 - green flasher with UV tape and fly - big king that got the better of us and got away. 400 Copper - Michigan Dolphin stinger spoon. 20 lb king 400 Copper - Michigan Dolphin stinger spoon. Steelhead. Was pretty happy with those results. Lots of bait out there. Lots of marks. Boats running meat rigs appeared to have fared the best from what I could tell at the dock.

Rumor is mature fish are south right now - along with a good batch of coho. Probably working their way up?

It's slim pickings out there now for some reason. Maybe July will come early? Alewife hit the harbors sooner than normal.

Heard it was a poor fishing inside of 100 fow. For morning if you haven't had any bites in the first 1.5 hours, move. Know several boats from from Muskegon to Saugatuck that found several nice fish out in the 100-150 fow. Biggest numbers if fish do appear to be up north though.

Ran to little point and set line at 5:30. Trolled north (NW to NE) in 90-160 fow. Went 6/10 all kings. Pulled lines at 8:40 to beat the storms rolling across the lake. Speed 2.0-3.0 variable. Fish got shallower as it got darker out. Often seen boats in the Grand Haven channel start hooking up after a freighter departs in the morning. And have caught fish from the pier casting to the dredge.

Fished from 8 until 12:30. Tried inside of 50 for 2 hours with only 1 coho to show for it. So we bumped out to 160. Fished in 160-180 and went 6/8 out there and 7/9 overall. Orange dodgers on divers back 30-35 feet took most fish.

It seems only a few posters put reports up anymore. Most have bigger boats, so won't start posting until later in the season. Also the Indiana section hasn't seen a report since 2019. Michigan section is a little more active.
