  1. A mistake by me almost ended up in a tangle, but resulted in a cool surface hit by a steelhead while I was netting another fish. Enjoy!
  2. Just went and picked up this spool holder at a hobby store. Made to hold craft related spools, but works perfectly fine for fishing line. Was only a few bucks on sale. Thought it was neat.
  3. Well a couple people ventured out on the bay...they managed a few whitefish, only walking out a few hundred feet. Said the ice varied from 2-3" and in some spots barely an inch. The rivers by us only had 2" and still a few open spots yet...will be a while yet before I go onto the river systems. Plan on checking some more spots this weekend. Be safe!
  4. Finally seeing some signs that ice fishing is almost upon us. Some reports of 2" of solid ice up near Little Sturgeon and there was ice forming along the shorelines of the Bay of Green Bay. As long as there is no real windy days, it should hold up nicely and with not a lot of snow in the future forecast, ice should be being made. I'm going to go check some local rivers to see how they are doing, will post when I check them out. And will keep updating when I know more info or as I am out fishing. Good luck and be safe!
  5. Thanks guys, hoping to get some more vids up soon..been busying chasing browns and steelies while waiting for the ice to come.
  6. I use the traxstech rod trees and the cannon dual axis holders for dipsies and for running boards. Work great
  7. Finally got some time to catch up on some videos. Here's one from early summer out of Algoma, WI.
  8. Thanks guys for the kind words. The color pattern did really well for spring walleye and looks like I'll be painting more for browns in the spring as well. Here's the pictures, they really don't do justice, the fish was much bigger looking in person. Personnal best for me anyways.
  9. Took a trip on my buddy's boat, mine was getting winterized. Dressed up in ice fishing gear, we set out, hoping to alteast connect with one fish. Trolled for about 2 hours with no bites, then finally a bite! Thought at first it was a 4 yr salmon still looming around. Made a few runs then we were able to finally get a look at the fish. It was a big browmn trout. After a few tries at the back of the boat, we finally got it to the net. Big sigh of relief! The fish measured 33inches and weighed 17lbs, i wish i measured the girth cause it looked like it was going to explode. Best of all was that the fish was caught on one of my custom stickbait patterns. Will post pics tomorrow. Biggest brown I've caught and seen caught out of the Kewaunee area in a long time.
  10. Thanks guys!! I actually get a lot of my ideas from salmon spoons, I like the color patterns. Something different that maybe the fish will react better to. RedRider, once I start up painting more in a couple weeks, I'll shoot you a message, maybe we can work something out. That one is the new #9 flicker shad.
  11. finally got some time to get some crankbaits done, should be able to start painting on a regular basis once deer hunting is over...hopefully I can get out to try these on some fall night time walleye.
  12. We were in canada doing some moose hunting, weather was seasonably warm, so we took a break from hunting and did some river fishing. Caught lots of fish. Most of them 19-23inches, but in the river we were fishing, you could only keep 2 and only one could be over 18". It was hard to catch a under 18" fish, but that also made it fun! P.S. did not shoot a moose on this trip unfortunetly K0XTRcXK-Eo
  13. Well, no pike again this trip, but did end up with 3 salmon. Got 2 on a size 3 j-plug (green holographic color) and the other on a moonshine hot lips spoon. Few other boats out trolling along with some perch fishermen as well. They were surfacing all over the place. Also they turned on the pumps for the Stawberry Creek fish rearing station.
  14. No pike that trip, but I had a buddy go fish the exact same area we were a few days prior, and they ended up with 7 pike. Mostly 28-34inches, but did get one at 41". I'm going to try and get up there again this week for both salmon and pike again. Heard some browns were being caught too.
  15. Ditto on what diztortion said..sometimes i dry them, sometimes i don't. Most of the time I leave them out a few hours on paper toweling to firm up a bit. Building C's: When were the eggs "WET". When they first get cured in borax o fire, the bag gets real juicy, and after a day curing, the eggs absorb the liquid and get nice and plump.
  16. I know of a couple walleye fisherman using the blade ones and running harnesses off of them. Seem to work.
  17. Just thought I'd let some of you know, went to troll for some pike in the canal and ended up hooking into some nice four year kings staging. Caught them on deep diving husky jerks. Saw some others being caught by some boats. Marked a lot of fish too. Good luck
  18. nicely done kyle
  19. Hope to get some fall vids once i get back from canada in 2 weeks...moose and walleye here i come!
  20. C'mon Jeff, you know you like saying "Custom" whenever we get one on those baits. I can't see your pics tho, computer is not letting me see them.
