  1. Thanks for the replies guys. Graph info: Hummingbird 798. I have the sensitivity and most of the settings turned way up(most on max) when out on the big lake. Helps me to see the "arches". Freq is 200/83 KHZ(when in dual beam mode). Its mounted on the back of my 16.5 aluminum boat. I don't get these marks like that all the time. Every once in a while, and only on the big lake as I can recall. When I'm on MAC or muskie fishing a smaller inland lake my settings are TOTALLY different and I don't recall seeing this phenomenon. I kinda thought it might be a rigger cable as the front edge of the marks are so straight all the way down,.. maybe on a tight turn or something?? But,..I never mark the cable on the graph. I do mark the ball if going slow enough. I have a couple e-mails out to Humminbird "pro staffers" but have not heard a thing back yet.
  2. Alright, what causes this/what is it? Im sure its not a school of kings playing leap frog!
  3. Thanks guys. I made a goofy vid with my youngest daughter I think you cats might enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N2nbOkECqI&feature=youtu.be http://youtu.be/4N2nbOkECqI
  4. Set lines around 5:30pm and within the first 15min got a nice LT. I didn't even have all my lines in the water yet! Wow, gunna be a good night!! Not so fast my friends! The wife and I trolled around for the next 3.75 hours only landing one more decent LT. Well,.. heck of a lot better than getting skunked I guess! So we went to the fish cleaning house(my first time there) with our rookie heads held "kinda" high only to butcher the fillets and my fingers! Well,...this sucks. Im on blood thinners so at 3am I finally stopped leaking. Man do I need practice! And being a bit more careful wouldn't hurt either. Both fish bit a blue/silver/greenish j-plug(I don't know the official color) on the lead-core rod in about 100fow. Same EXACT set up we got a big king a couple weeks ago. That plug has been pretty hot. Maybe we will score a king next time. Peace -kid
  5. Ya, It was my first time ever using lead-core (which I just bought like 3 weeks ago). I put it on a TX44 board and let her drift off to the side. It fooled me a couple times going in and out of waves, making the rod dance, and sounding a couple clicks of the drag here and there, but when the big girl hit there was no doubt! I'm debating on getting another LC set up for the other side of the spread. Seems like copper is the thing most people are going with but I don't know squat about it.
  6. Got out on the water around 5:30pm. It was really slow for us. However in the top of the ninth we scored a beaut! I dont remember how deep we were at the time, but the fish hit on my 10 color lead core with a blue/silver plug. This was my first King in 3 trips and only the 4th one I have caught since doing the Salmon thing so I was/am GEEKED! 22 pounds! Great evening out on the big water!!
  7. Diamond, Unless you really, really offended them somehow, I cant believe they just walked away from ya without even a little love offered up. I don't care if you caught fish or not that's just unsportsmans like conduct. I get a little peeved when I cant even get a courtesy wave for letting somebody cut in/traffic, Id be disgruntled to say the least if I were in your shoes. Good luck in Canada!
  8. Wow!, those are beauties! Nice job!
  9. Great job and report Dave! It was good to finally meet you, even if by chance. I really appreciate all your help.
  10. Mr. and Mrs. King,.. whats happening!! Ya, I got the salmon bug! Im not super serious about it do to my boat being pretty small for the big lake so I only go out a few times a year. I also use alot of my muskie gear to help keep the cost down. I like it though! And unlike them muskies, I get to keep some of these rascals for dinner!!
  11. Well, Not such a hot outing. One reel(Okuma) stopped working, one downrigger rod snapped(Cabelas) and my motor when trimmed up hits the board I have across the back of the boat so I could barely get my transom saver on. We did get a LT in the box though(expensive fish!!). The DNR launch at MAC was pretty busy but it was a nice day so that's to be expected. I wanted to go deeper(140+) but it was a touch choppy for the 1650 Fishhawk so we trolled back into shallower water(60-70 feet) where it was nice and calm. On the good side, my riggers that I got from Al(knotatwork) performed great! Mixed Veggie was the lure that got bit.
  12. I believe thats the marina Jeff Covey and his wife run. If so, I can say that they are wonderful people.
  13. knotatwork is a straight shooter and a really good guy! Thanks for the riggers Al !!
  14. Looking for extendable boom model.
  15. Looking for a HP or 10(I dont know the difference). Doesn't need to be in great shape, Ill take a decent one and call it good. Looking for a deal, have cash. Thanks!
  16. Thanks for the input guys!
  17. Hey guys Im looking for a tackle box to hold my spoons. That special mate spoon box looks pretty decent. Any thoughts or suggestions on what to buy are much appreciated.
  18. Ya, Randy is a good duck. He told me he has the seniority to stay at Gvill and learn guns, or he could transfer to the Kentwood store. Glad he can keep his job during these trying times.
  19. True, but its really picked over. Still some decent lures and stuff left. Went there tonight after work. The check out line was about 30 people deep! That store is going to be all guns and gun related stuff. Small amount of footware and some camo gear. I guess its going to be Michigan's largest gun library.
  20. A true supertanker! The last supertanker state record sure didnt last long! Muskies are a cool fish and fun to chase after. Im not going to lie they dont fight like a nice king but they are very challenging to catch and when you catch one you go home with a smile on your face! Please practice CPR and visit the Michigan Muskie Alliance web-site if your interested in these babies.
  21. Thanks for all the help fellas! I have a regular "milk run" of sites that I now hit before going out. It sure is a different game than inland lake muskie fishin' !! Im going to continue to listen and learn from you guys/gals and hopefully establish some relationships so I can salmon fish successfully and more important safely!!
  22. *Anyone that fished out of Holland Sat 9/1/12 am,..how big were the waves around the 80' depth. My guess was 3 to 4 footers? I got chased off the lake going back at idle speed pretty much white knuckled. I want to know the est wave height for future reference. *Do I need to add any height for (being in a boat) as to what the Holland buoy claims as significant wave height? It seems to indicate much less wave height than what I believe they are. *What do you guys think is the most trusted/accurate weather web-site? I had no business going out that far, in the dark, with my wife, in a 1650 Crestliner Fish hawk but,... man I really wanted to fish!! Plus it only called for waves around 1 foot within 5 miles of shore. I dont think that was the case! Ill chock this wasted trip up to a learning experience and be grateful we made it back O.K. I certainly welcome your tips, advice, and criticisms(the life you save may be mine!!) Thanks fellas! -kid P.S.- Yes,.... I know I need a bigger boat!
