Nice job Ed especially fighting the fog and going solo. I went out Wednesday in the fog out of Muskegon and got skunked. Few fish were caught in shallow between 40 - 60 fow. Small steelies and small kings. We went out deep with good large marks in the 155 fow with only 1 hitting on a mag dipsey set at 1 1/2 down 225 ft white paddle with white/blue fly which we lost. So far I haven’t been able to get any rhythm going. Hoping to get out next week. Good luck everyone. -

Fished from 5:30 till 12:00 starting out in 80 fow out to 200 fow of water marking most fish in the early morning 89 fow to 110 fow and again in the 147 fow out to 175 fow heading on a SW troll and NW troll . What worked, 100 ft copper with a McMuffin uv 1 steelhead 16 .4 lbs in the 155 fow. Also same combo took 1 lamprey, ( yep you read right lamprey ). Shaker king we released on a braid dipsey set at 47 ft in 187 fow SW troll. Had a few large bait balls marked but no fish around them. Bite and fish seemed to be somewhere else. Lots of radio chatter of no fish. Good luck everyone.

Fished 6:00 to 12:00 and went 1 -2. Started in 80 fow out to 200 fow on a NW troll. 2.5 to 2.7 sog. Had the first fish hit in the 132 fow on the way out, on the way back in hit 1 fish 147 fow. 1st fish steelhead 7 lbs on a 7 color standard watermelon spoon 132 fow heading NW. Heading back in on a SE troll in 147 fow lost second steelhead on a 3 color captain Gary’s double uv. Funny thing, we lost the second steelhead after a good fight about 80 ft behind the boat. The fish stayed on top of the water barely swimming. Watching the fish, we turned the boat around as fast as the long lines would allow and got the bow right up to it, my friends son went to net it and it suddenly came back to life and took off. It was awesome to watch, even though it got away, we have a great memory and an overall fun day.

Great catch Scott. I agree it’s so helpful for guys to post. I once was a weekend only fisherman and depended on any information I could get, time was a premium, you don’t have time to waste figuring out where to go and what was working. Now that I’m retired I’m on the water much more and I’m able to do scouting and try different lures. I enjoy posting what I’ve learned week to week. After all I hope it helps others to put fish in the box. -
Fished 6:00 to 10:00 this morning going 5 for 7 on a north west troll in 110 fow out to 180 fow. Fish were down between 40 and 60 fow. Ran 2.6 to 2.8 sog. What worked, white paddle with white/blue fly, blue/green dolphin and dw glow lure green and white. Caught 2 shaker kings on dw spoon, 1 king barely over 9lbs blue/green dolphin, 2 kings white/blue fly 13 lbs and 22 lbs king. Photo of ( just the biggies).

Sorry for late post. Went out of Muskegon solo yesterday. Decided to head south, half way to GH started to find fish in the 127 fow. Set lines and headed out to 152 fow and found top 20-40 fow had bait and lots of shaker kings. Down 60-80 fow had few larger kings. Sent dipseys down to 50-70 fow and had a 7 color out. Adjusted dipseys during the day as needed. Picked up 2 shaker kings using mixed veggie standard spoon on 7 color. Caught 1 12lbs king 65 down on a stinger blue/green dolphin standard spoon. Had 1 smoker almost spool me on a blue dolphin standard spoon which broke the line. Speed was 2.4 to 3.0 sog

Fished from 6:00 till 12:00 running 6 rods. Started again in 40fow to 65fow. Marked lots of fish glued to the bottom. Radio chatter stated the above with no fish taken but lots of marks. Went out to 155fow and marked fish at 50fow to 60fow. Lost the only fish that hit in that depth on a braid dipsey using a black and green ladder back standard spoon. Back at the boat ramp talked to few captains who did catch a couple in the 147 fow . Hopefully you’ll have better luck than we did.

Went out of Muskegon solo. Set first line at 6:00 am. Started out heading south in 45 fow to 65 fow. Lots of boats but little radio chatter of fish being taken. Did mark fish on the bottom and had no takers in the 45-65 fow. Picked up and headed more South into deeper water. Went 2 for 2 both kings.. Fished from 9:20 till noon in 147 fow water out to 190 fow. What worked. Braid dipsey in 155 fow standard size blue dolphin down 55 feet 12 lbs king. 300 copper took the other 8 lbs king on a blue ladder back standard size spoon in 167 fow. Ran 2.5 sog to 2.9 sog. Both fish where taken coming back in on a south east troll. Going again tomorrow.

Port Sheldon 5/10/17 pm 5:45 to 8:00 Set first rod at 5:45 pm starting in 125 fow heading out to 149 fow with no action. Heard on the radio few catches in close. Pullled lines and started in 55 fow heading into 40 fow. Went 4 for 5 heading south 2.6 mph. Riggers set at 25 and 32 ft and 150 copper. Took 2 on the riggers and 2 on copper, loosing a nice king at the boat on the copper. All spoons were mag spoons, orange in color with the copper line having orange with blue. Pulled lines at 8:00 rain got heavy and forgot rain gear. 1 coho and 1 king on riggers and 2 kings on copper.
