  1. Back when i was going to Mich. Tech. i used to do well on the salmon trought river just north of town!
  2. hope that didnt hit an a 400 copper!! Great fish!
  3. Gotta say that the moonshine lures are best year after year. When we first started we asked our good friend to give us 6 "must have" lures and went from there. This year moonshine razor burn and crab face were the two hottest. I would say those two lures took a third of our fish. Dint matter where, rigger, copper, dipsy, went strong all day too.
  4. i get the same thing from my son Mike-he only wants a 32' teria no biggie!
  5. how do i join the group?

  6. thanks for all the great comments guys! This is a great site and look forward to staying in touch. Good Luck to you all!
  7. We slammed the kings on plugs over labor day weekend. This time of year we run 50% of our spread with plugs!
  8. weekend started out slow-friday wind was bad-fished pm lake 1-king, 1 northern-both on j-plugs (forgot color now). friday evening pounded shoreline all the way to the stick and trolled south and picked up 4 right before dark. moonglo sarge and blue splatterback plug on copper out in 120 fow. Slow again saturday straight out to bouy then turned north-heavy thermo down 45ft-no fish!! Got a call from a friend late morning and said we were too far south! Ended morning with 4. Two on spoons two on blue splatterback plug. Went way north for Sat. evening. Set up in the 03's trolled to 05.5's. marked a ton of fish picked off 4 all on plugs. Sunday got up early and were setting lines back in the 03's by 4:45. Early bite paid off for us. went 12-16 all in the skinny water (thanks again for the call Ed!) hot lure was lemon ice glo plug on rigger 50 back and 50 down-took 7 fish. So hot dont think it was down more than 5 minutes at a time before it hit! Razor burn spoon continued to be hot as well. Sunday night stunk-first trip all year without a fish. Boo:confused:! same water as the morning, marked tons of fish but they all had lock Jaw. Monday morning we had to leave town early for my sons football practice that evening. This being our last trip of the year and needing only 4 fish to reach 100 for the year, i felt the pressure as i am the driver and knew if i didnt put us over fish i would never hear the end of it! It was looking bad early!! got way out of line when the pack came roaring past and never had a shot to get to the "fishy" water so i turned back south and headed for the old water-120 fow off the bath house-my security blanket! Whew got number 4 in the boat at 8 and ran for the dock with two happy fisherman and two really happy co-captains!! BEST YEAR EVER ON THE MONARK!!
  9. great info guys!! didnt know there were browns that colored!!
  10. That sure looks like an Atlantic Salmon to me!!
  11. moonshine glow spoons-green jeans, sarge, sand burr-almost any of them- work great from before daylight to about 8 (longer if its cloudy) then yeck- verdict, jerid, dreamweaver- lemon ice, blue dolphin, green dolphin, most of the uv spoons have been working. Good Luck!!
  12. sometimes we fish the "pond" using crome j-plugs and get em to hit out of agrivation. Good Luck!
  13. Ludington-huge numbers of fish staging to run up the Pere Marquett river and also the Sable river to the north. Many great spots to fish that will allow you to avoid the "combat fishing". Lots of boats in the area over that weekend-including me!! Good Luck!
  14. two weeks ago the fish were in 130 fow 1 mile south of the pier head-work south towards the dunes.
  15. thanks Ed-fishing with youndsters is always special!
  16. Sure can do it all the time-after the second thaw though they get soft so i wouldnt recomend more than one-refreeze!
  17. Went out for the evening fish with two first timers with a threat of a big storm and rain. Not wanting to soak the newbies we stayed right at the mouth with no luck. After an hour and no storm, we gambled and went south to the project in 100 Fow and finally found a fish. Number one came on a five color with a yeck verdict. The second fell to a moonshine sand burr to a young lady on her first ever voyage on the big lake. Again on the five color. She wasn't sure what she was going to do,but she fought it to the back of the boat and with some nifty net work she had her first ever king. She then immediately called her mom and dad. what a great way to end an evening a double rainbow and smiles all around!!
  18. depends on the time of year i think. early when baitfish are small-regulars. later the mags seem to work better. we run both sizes this time of year!
  19. good catch! sounds like there are a few more fish in the harbor than there was last week! thats good news-seeing that we are there all next week!!
  20. Took the kids camping and fished Pentwater last weekend. Not bad but had some rough seas to fish. Two trips in the boat, fished a total of abbout 7 hours. we went 7-9 total 6 kings and one steelie. Tried down in front of the dunes the firsty trip-slow. Next trip we stayed right out front of the harbor and had better action. Razor burn continues to be the hot bait, dipsy rods set at 120 and 130 back and rigger down 45-60 took all but one fish. The other came on 10 color with a yeck verdict-Thanks Ed!! Total so far this year in two trips is 34 fish-off to a good start.
  21. fish were south last weekend, that big south blow we had yesterday should have them moving back north though. The fish are eating when you find them though!
  22. Tough finding the fish this weekend as the weather had the scattered. Started on the bank friday-no fish and warm water. moved south in front of the project Saturday and found fish in 95-105 fow. Hot rig was razorburn spoon on rigger 50 back 45 down, took 5 of our 8. Five color lead took the others-nothing deep. Sunday the fish had moved even further south, ran almost to pentwater but man thats where the fish seemed to be stacked up. we had to leave early so we only fished a few hours but got on the fish right away two big kings pushing 20lbs. Cant wait to get back up this weekend.
  23. no-have tried it in the past but really didnt see any better results-ludington
