  2. There certainly were alot of boats out today. I thought it was the weekend. I put a few more hours on my new kicker motor and many lures in the water. Went 1 for 1 with a small coho on a orange with black wishbone thinfin, back 80 on a 3 color to chase the skunk out in 24.5 fow off Palisades at 11:10am. Lake was calm as reported with a 36.4 surface temp and 36.9 on bottom. Harbor temp was 44. Sent from my SM-T713 using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  3. Fished 10am-1:24pm, 2 for 2, both laketrout. Biggest was (male)11.79#, 34 -1/4" long. Caught on a DR with gold no-seeum fly and small red dodger in 43.5 fow at 12:17 pm, 2.1 sog, S troll, ball temp 36.1. Rigger was dragging bottom. Other was (female) 7.09# , 30" long, on west troll with 4C, teaspoon red ice spinner, 2.7 sog, 25.3 fow at 11:52 am, water temp 36.2. Waves were 2 ft rollers turning into 2 ft chop with occasional 3ft mixed in. Surface temp was 35.5 with nw wind picking up as we quit. Water temp at launch site was 42.8. We bounced around alot out there! Ran shallow north for some browns but did not get any. Came south and deeper to kill the skunk. Definitely chillier today. Village joined me for another great day.

  8. Fished 1-4pm, breaking in my new 9.9 kicker for my littleboat and figured I fish the last hour, when I could start trolling at a constant speed. Threw a couple of spoons on and started to drink my coffee. No bites for awhile then at 3:21pm pulled in my 1 for 1 catch. A 9.50# laketrout, in 30.4 fow on a DR with a red NBK std spoon, back 35 on a north troll. Water temp was 35.9. Waves were 3ft for a couple of hours and then subsided to 1-2ft. My dog loved it.
  9. Went by PS tonight noticed one ramp in. I suspect the holland dnr launch has one in also. Good luck to everyone this year!
  10. Holland am, 11-7 Fished front of piers for 1 hr, no takers or many marks. Lake temp was 49.9, Macatawa was 46. Moved out to 120-140 area only a few marks. Went 1/1 with only hit being an 11# steelhead on a Moonshine Bloody Nose std spoon, 250 cu line, south troll, 2.4 sog, in 132 fow at 9:12am. 50 degree temp out there was in 102 fow. Waves were 1-2 ft, but picking up. Great to be on the water. Also, 2 of the 3 ramps at launch were pulled when we got back. Village joined me today.
  11. Lake Macatawa cleaning station is locked and closed now. Parking gates are still open. Ramps are still in.
  12. Holland am, 10-26-17 Fished 40-150 fow. 1 for 2, 1st hit came (7:45am) in 50fow on blue dolphin std on DR, W troll, which we lost (?) on the retrieve. 2nd was a small but very plump king 3.24#, in 122 fow at 10:05 am with a 300 cu and JP Slammer spoon frog glow on SE troll, surface temp 56.8. All shallow water was in the 57.6 temp range. Lots of marks. We reach 50 degrees mark in 110 fow. Waves started out 1-2 then 2-3 and 2-4s with a brisk chop. Quit at 11am. Nice to be on the water again. Village joined me today.
  13. Good day for conditions to make the long run. Great job! I don't think they mapped that part of the lake yet? You and La Salle are quite the explorers!
  14. When I solo fish, which is most of the time, I will put a meat rig on one rod if nothing else is working. Extra rods always helps. September seems a little slower this year.
  15. Were you bouncing the bottom with your spin and glows or just running deep as you stated?
  16. I had the same problem earlier this month with meat. I guess it's all in the timing. They said the meat rig was bit pretty quick. It was a very nice looking steelhead.
  17. Holland am, 9-21 1/1 with a 4# laketrout taken on 270 cu with Green RV-1 Flounder Pounder, in 129 fow at 10:16 am, 2.8 sog, north troll. I must have had the fish on for awhile. When I brought the line in, it got stuck in the eyelet when the copper started to separate and unraveI. I cut away the bad parts, rejoined the line and brought the fish in. My swivel must not have been rotating. No other releases. Very bouncy 3-4 ft rollers not the 1ft forecast. Another boat out there caught a 12# steelhead in 145 fow on green meat rig down 100ft on a rigger. I was lucky enough to weigh it while I was waiting to clean my fish. They were fishing friends of mine. I guess I need to buy some more meat?
  18. You did better than most of us, congrats! PS. It's not fair you caught my fish. Enjoy though!
  19. Lots of bait but only one release in 107 fow at 7:54 am. Dropped lines in at 80fow, fished 110-130 mostly. Used variety of lures, flies and plugs. I saw only two other boats out. Attached pics of bait piles.
  20. I saw you in the channel as I was coming in around 12:30, you were nearing its end. Kids looked like they were still having a good time. I was wondering how the channel fishing was going? Thanks for the update.
  21. Holland 8-12pm, 9-14-17 I thought I would go deeper today to see if the bite might improve. Fished 180-260, but mostly 245-260. Results: 1/1 3.96# laketrout on flounder pounder green RV-1 on DR down 102 bk 35, se troll, 2.3 sog, ball temp 45 in 237 fow at 8:44 am. Nothing after that. Attached a few screen pics to show you what was out there. Alot of fish hanging at 50 degree mark. Ran all spoons from thermocline to 250 down. Hope the bite improves!
  22. Holland 8am-12 My 3 rods struckout today. Fish were on otherside of the lake. Lots of marks 125-150. 90 ft down was 50 degree mark. Also pounded the bottom for laketrout in 110-123 fow, nobody home. Used a variety of lures and trolling directions. Attach some screen shots. Hope this helps others.
  23. No wake laws should apply to all, regardless of boat size, even throw in a little courtesy too.
