Note: I only have 2 downriggers.....and don't have tangle issues when running flashers off of dipsies or long lines with planer boards, always keeping good separation. I would typically run 1 dipsie and 1 long line with in line planer per side...in addition to the DR lines. Hope this is of some help. Good luck!

I have had the same problem....and for that reason I only run flasher on deepest rigger and 10' from ball. Then a 15' separation with stacked line above. That seems to have solved the tangle issue. I assume you are stacking your riggers, 2 lines each. My thought was that the further from the ball the larger the circle the flasher/rotator makes. So I try to keep them close, a smaller circle. If I use flashers on riggers I also angle the corner riggers at a 45 degree angle to give more separation. I am no expert by any means, just thought I would share my experience with same problem.

Thank you for this great tip....I would never of though of it. I have to try this one out soon! Have you ever tried this with a J-plug, or are you referring to rapala's, reef runners, and thunder stick type body baits? Next question is when you refer to high lines, i know you are referring to the higher lines in the water, but could this apply to dipsies, and leadcore and copper? I am relatively new to salmon fishing as well, 5 or 6 years now, but this is a great tip in my opinion, something I have never heard of anyone doing. Thanks Again!

A good place to start would be trolling from the DNR station near state st bridge up stream to the condos......rapalas Just follow the other boats, should be a good place to start..... Good luck.

I guess I misunderstood your question.....Cheboygan River is not open for walleye yet.....I was referring to once the fish are in and season opens. Should be able to get some steelhead in Cheboygan river now though.

I would take your 14' boat for Cheboygan river walleye....river gets a lot of boat traffic when walleye are in.....blue and silver or blk and silver rebels or rapalas I've heard used quite a bit. I don't fish them much though. Usually troll up stream, but you can troll both directions. Just be aware there can be a lot of boats in river. Wish I could tell you more...but once you start fishing you will talk to others and get more info, especially if you work in the area..you will meet people who can help you. Good luck.
