  1. welcome fish are allways going to be cheaper at the super market sea food department just not near as fun to bring home The fish is not the only one that can get hooked in this game LOL these guys started like this and now what? they keep taking my boat and some how i have to keep putting gas in it but you know what thats OK as long as they take me along most of the time
  2. Torpedo makes a very nice swivel tip that can be added to any rod in about ten minutes and a hot glue gun Shamano rods are not expensive for what you get untill you get into the ones that have the swivel tips I often buy the 8' shamano telora roller rods and put this tip on it may be you can see it in theis pictures here they put a extra guide rite in front of the roller that keeps the wire deep in the roller all the time sweet set up
  3. finding a leak in a verticle drive assembly is as easy as finding a leak in a tire oil has to be drained drive should hold 15psi of air pressure we have a little hand pump that we pump up to 15 lbs let it set a little whiile gauge should not move if it does we start spraying all the seals and shift shaft with soapy water a good seal is only good on a good shaft surface porperly tourqued components some times line can ruin not only seals but the arera od a shaft the seal rides on Frank calumet marine

  10. sslopok a kicker does not have to have the prop all the way below the hull of a boat like a main motor does usally if the bottom of the boat intersects the kicker between the prop shaft and the cavitation plate its about as good as it gets if the kicker is on a bracket with 8 or more inches set back the prop shaft is parrellel with the bottom of the boat this is a good place often the problem is getting the kicker clear of the water when under power with the main motor this is just as inportant if not even more inportant than getting it deep enough deeper is better for real rough conditions but if its that rough do you want to troll for salmon? send me a pm here if you might need a better understanding of what i am trying to get across here there is no one way to rig a kicker motor. you rig them for sail boats completely different than a fishing boat if you are going to use a auto pilot on a kicker there are yet another set of rules to apply to the best way to get it on there to work together well as a system the most common mistake made is to mount kickers too low where they drag or spash water back into the boat while under way with the main motor
