  1. Would like to get some Telescoping Booms for my Downriggers. Also looking for a Digi Troll II owners manual.
  2. I did pick them up. There was an extra display that did not work and I will probably try to depot the electronics and see if I can fix it. If I can find the LCD they would likely be an easy fix. Still need a manual if anyone has one that they could scan? Thanks, Greg
  3. I was just offered a very good deal on a set of Digi Troll II down riggers but have my reservations. I know that the electronics are no longer available from Cannon but was wondering how big a deal that is? Are they reliable enough that I shouldn't have any problem or is it just a matter of time before these become landfill material. Has anyone taken on repair of the control box? I know that the new ones are faster but these are about 2x the speed of my current Big Jons and I like the electronic control funtions like auto stop. The seller does not have the manuals for the downriggers and I can't find any online. Does anyone know where I might be able to download a copy? Seems that Cannon does not support their legacy products very well but their product does have some nice features. Thanks in advance for any help. Greg
  4. I have been thinking I should put the 4" heat exchangers on my 470s before I put the boat in the water this year. I bought the boat last fall and it still had the 3" heat exchangers. The previous owner said he never had any problems but if I can find a set at a reasonable price it would ease my mind. Need 2. Thanks, Greg
  5. I just ordered some of the Cisco Track for my boat. I talked with Dave over at the Grand Rapids show and was very impressed with their product. I would love to have their rod holders and slide mounts for the down riggers but will have to wait for additional funds to free up for that. They also had an interesting twist on the Dipsy rod holder. Instead of the ratcheting design, they implemented an Aluminum version of the lift out rod holders that might be worth considering. Very pricey but heavy duty and looks to be well made. The last time I was up at Northwoods they had a very good price on the Berts ratcheting rod holders. Cheaper than their online price and better than any I have seen online. Will be going up again on Friday and can check to see if they are still on sale if you like. Greg
  6. The Big Jon tube sits down into the base. I don't have the measurements here but I can guarantee you it isn't 8", more like 3". I will measure them tonight as a reference.
  7. Which model are the downriggers and are the longer booms fixed or telescoping?
  8. Kevin, Left you a PM. I may be interested if the OP is not. Greg
  9. Is there anything similiar to this for Manistique in the UP??
  10. Great price, unfortunately it is not compatible with the other systems (3" wide vs. 3.5"?) so would be stuck buying their accessories. Thank you for the tip, looks like they are still higher than Cisco Systems but an option. I like the Traxstech so if I don't take advantage of the Cisco Systems free shipping I may go see them. They are only about 40 miles from me.
  11. I have decided to put tracks on my boat. Looks like I have room to put a 36" track between the Gimbles that are on the boat and an 18" piece in front and in back. Probably the cheapest way is buy 4-36" pieces and cut 2 of them in half. Best price I could find was the Cisco Systems which have free shipping if I order before the 31st. I couldn't find anyone that discounts any of the track systems and I don't know if they typically go on sale over the Winter months. Anyone know of any dealers that discount any of the track systems or if there are typically any deals in the spring?
  12. Very Nice. Thanks for sharing your work. It would be nice to have a hard top like that, would make adding trees and launchers a lot easier. On the other hand, I have a walk around cuddy and mounting the tree to the side of the cabin would mean the poles would be blocking the walk way in use. Greg
  13. Any chance of getting some details on how you constructed the trees? I have been looking at building a set of my own and would like to see how others have done it. Greg
  14. Looks like a nice boat. I am buying a 25' Grady White that is pretty well set up except for downriggers (used for Walleye on Saginaw Bay). Need poles and tackle but that seems to be the case with all the boats for sale.
  15. Thanks Adam, picked them up yesterday.
  16. Fairly new to this and looking for my first Salmon Boat. Getting close to pulling the trigger but have a couple more I want to look at. One of these is a 24' Four Winns Vista with a 8 hr kicker motor. The guy currently uses the boat for Walley fishing in the Saginaw Bay but I would want to outfit it for Salmon. My question is about the Kicker. Does an 8hp motor have enough power to troll a boat that big? Do you troll slower for Walleye maybe and that is enough? Do people use kickers when fishing for Salmon and what is the advantage? It is a nice boat but the price is higher because of the kicker motor. Thanks in advance for any advice or thoughts. Greg
  17. Chris, Thanks for the heads up. I had looked at those and realize they are much cheaper than new ones. I will do some research to see if these offer enough of an advantage over the Walkers that my brother has which are less expensive new. Not saying they are not a good deal, just not sure if they might not be overkill for a newbie.
  18. I am looking at a boat to use for Salmon fishing that I would need to outfit with downriggers, poles, lures, planer boards, etc and thought I would see what I could find used before spending the money on new equipment. Not even sure of all that I would need as I have never set up a boat before, just been out trying to learn from my brother.
