  1. Ralph, Your link is truncated and doesn't work, but that mytopo site is a great find. Many thanks! Paul
  2. Great report, and great advice as always. My boat took a dump Sunday, so I'm out for the season but still like to know what I'm missing.
  3. The Saginaw River channel markers are not in yet. There is a derrick working at the mouth of the river. Not sure what they are doing other than making a lot of noise. Haven't been out yet, still preppin the boat.
  4. "There have been trucks full of live Asian Carp stop at the Ambassador bridge already." Say what???!!
  5. Sport fishing is intened to be a means to manage a resource. Leaving aside the obvious reality that those entrusted with such auhority have failed, I personally believe slot limits are overdue on the great lakes. Also leaving aside the invasive specie problem, slot limits protect the most important age class; the breeding class. I have fond memories as a child of my Fathers success fly fishing for Brook Trout. Those fish are gone from the Black River and most lower michigan waters. I stopped fly fishing myself because there just aren't the fish anymore. Considering the threat posed by invasive species there is no doubt that we have to change to meet that ever increasing threat. Slot limits are not a panacea, but they are an effective tool that I believe should be used. Paul
  6. I fished 8 hours yesterday for one 18" eye, so I salute you. We started on the pencil buoys, marked fish but no luck, so we moved over to the black hole. Ran it once with mostly meat and one hotntot. Was gonna give it up until caught the keeper on the northeast corner just off the hole on the hotntot. Swung down and ran it again with cranks, still nothin. Thought about headin to the shallow water, but with the heat went for the deeper stuff north of the spark plug but still struck out. Like you tried different speeds, colors, depths, cranks . . . tough day. Waves picked up and made the trip home slow. Nice sunset.
