  1. Fished this morning from 7am -12:30. 1st brown came in about 7 fow on the deep side planer on 3 color w/smithwick rogue blue/ silver/orange body bait. 2nd fish was a laker taken on rigger 15 back down 10 in 15 fow on blue freakin veggie stinger w/a flasher i dont kno the name of. Fish was gently released (we thought about staying out there a couple more days with the fish on but sooooome people have to wooork) 3rd fish was another brown taken in 20 fow on a straight line about roughly 75-100 ft. back on a blue/chart./silver w/ red eye thin fin. We had another rip on two color core w/ a small frog color j-plug out in 25 fow that submerged the planer but by the time we got to the rod it was off. Im planning on hitting port sheldon a few times this week and dont have any problems with sharing what i find out and what i catch, unless i start getting pm's from angry pier fishermen
  2. My question is where are all the kings?
  3. Have you guys ever heard of fish biting best 3 days before and 3 days after full and new moons. Well i have. I happen to notice that the brown blast was the 14th, 3 days before a new moon and fri. the 20th when we went and alot of people were catching them was 3 days after the new moon. Could be just coinsidence (sp) but it might be worth paying a little attention to.
  4. He was smiling alot more after he caught it Steve and braggin about how hes a better fisherman than me. He looks kinda POed in the pic tho i think. Thanks for helpin me with the picture Mike.
  5. Fished from 7am to about 2pm and went 1-1 with my son catching this brown around noon on a orange/chart./silver w/ black dot thin fin- 37ft. behind a planer with a 1oz. weight and 120ft. out from the boat. We spent all our time inbetween the 1st and 2nd sandbars and in 10 fow for the most part. Water temp. was 45 deg. here and we marked bait fairly consistently in this area south of the pier. Fish came on a north troll.
  6. If this had come from a guy that didnt look like he was auditioning for COPS himself i might have taken offense to that.
  7. I had a great time fishing with you guys yesterday it was awesome, nice meetin you Roger and thanks for taking us out Rich. We were singin our own fish on! song about every 5-10 minutes at the start there shu. I think we had 1 triple and at least 2 doubles ourselves. Im jus gettin home from my sons ball game and its a little to late now to head out so were gonna hit Holland early tomorrow morning instead. Will post a report of what happens tomorrow night..Caz add 1 brown to your lil fish tally.
  8. lol @ the king with one eye missing...stay away from the one with the gimp arm to that ones mine. Im so excited about tomorrow its gonna be hard to get to sleep tonight. Lookin like im goin out sat. after my sons ball game and again on sunday possibly at port sheldon or holland. What a great weekend! Good Luck to everyone that makes it out this weekend weather is gonna be outstanding. See you in the morn. Rich and rdfishin hope you guys r ready to catch some fish.
  9. I think how many alcoholic beverages were consumed the night before also plays a role in this.My nephew down there at the bottom just has no excuse.
  10. Ok now say if I wanted to run (2) mono rods, one on each side of the boat with inline weights and planers on them at various lengths, and a 2 color on one side and a 3 color on the other side also with inline planers wich ones should i put on the outside and wich ones on the inside? Or should i put both leadcores on the same side with the 2 color out first then 3 color second (seems like a big mess waitin to happen), and both monos with inline weights on the same side?
  11. We had a friend of ours dad give us 2 tackle boxes with some older lures in it and i found one of these in there.
  12. I still believe him for some reason, dont know why but i do.
  13. You could snell a 2/0 single hook and then have a treble snelled a few inches above that and the single will work as a trailer hook.Ive hooked a few fish last year on single hooks that went completely thru the bone on the lower jaw, making it even hard for me to unhook them when they are in the boat and with pliers, from then on ive been sold.
  14. Very nice fish! and good job. Cool kid to.
  15. Well heres the ones i made at your house and some of the different material im going to use to make some more.Waiting on a shipment of 2/0 and 3/0 hooks then can make my leaders and throw on the beads.
  16. Does anyone kno of a system that tells you how far a trolling weight will bring your lures down? Looking for info for 1/4 oz. up to 1oz. trolling weights and what depth can be achieved by using these with x amount of line out.I kno speed would be a factor as well as line diameter but jus some general info. Thanks in advance.
  17. Thanks again for inviting me over and showing me how to make these flys.I picked up some more colors and some different kinda material at GM when i got back home.I will post a picture of the ones i made and the ones im about to make in a day or two, but for right now im beat. We picked our boat up today and had it ready to go by 3pm. then went to Port Sheldon. The end of last year i had brought my boat in to get a small leak fixed and they said they had to replace 14 rivets but then found no more leaks.Well the thing still has a leak somewhere.. We made it out to the bubbler anyways and then moved in to 8-10fow and then trolled around in Pigeon Lake a lil before giving up.Talked to two guys as we were headin out that caught a brown and a steelie and another guy when we came in that had the same luck as us.Now i have to bring my boat back in tomorrow and have them fix it again.
  18. If you read some of the captions below a woman states that she caught a 40lb. Koho out of this same place. Is this one of your relatives Caz?the current state record coho is 30.56 lbs.
  19. I worked at BBT about 10 yrs. ago or more for a short time.Really good guys.Grandpa has a place on Big Star and i stayed there when workin for them. Thanks for the update, guess ill stick around here a few more days till things settle down.
  20. Thanks for heads up.I see you didnt stay long if you did.Was thinkin maybe you got there and had to turn right back around.Im gonna try an get up there sunday hopefully and check er out ,and the south branch.Letcha kno what i find.
  21. I kno exactly what you are talkin about.Ive read his article on game&fish about that.I saw an illustration somwhere to.thanks for bringing that up because i had forgotten all about that lil set -up.
  22. Doesnt anyone own the cannon? We are going to purchase one these to for this year. I see the cannon has a light sensitivity sensor and tells you what exact depth your ball is at.I dont believe any of the other ones have those features and its 100 dollars cheaper.Id like to kno a lil about the cannons before i buy one so if anyone owns one of these hows it been working for you?Leaning towards the Cannons with the Fish Hawk a close second.
  23. Hi Matt.Hey did you guys ever make it up to PM.If so whats the story up there?
  24. hey steve you might have solved our prob.. ok when im out there i see some people that have thier rigger rods straight up and people that have them almost parallel with the water with the tips jus hitting the water kinda. I been doing the parallel cus it kinda tucks my rods out of the way and thats what i see on most boats. ive had them on 45 degree angles but for the most part i been putting them parallel with the tips jus above the water.
  25. Everytime ive been on your boat im to busy reeling in 40- 50 pounder fish to notice what kind of gear your using. Im gonna get 2 ugly sticks and outfit them with 12lb. test and give that a try at least.I see Lion Den has 4 for sale, if i could get 2 from him for 50 bucks that will work. ill prolly be gettin some 8' diawas now to, another trustworthy fisherman was tellin me these are good rods also and maybe at 8' i can find a middle ground with my partner.Far as sharp hooks and release goes most all of my spoons are new and ive switched alot of them to single hooks instead of trebles.Release, last year we used rubber bands with a big jon band buster..this year going to the walker release that you use.
