  1. No hard feelings here I won't get angry for a difference in opinion on fishing. I'm just saying we have such a small impact on the population by the number of shakers kept. If it really did make a significant or noticeable difference wouldn't there be more restrictions? Either way I'm taking away from the original thread. Perhaps a discussion best kept seperate
  2. What does it matter. Killing adult salmon means they never spawn which means in 3 years there's no offspring from that fish. Killing a 16 inch king means that fish never grows up either.... boats go out in October and slam young of the year fish yet we still have adult fish....
  3. Saturday fished south haven wmfl. Ended up 4 for 10. Got through the pier heads about 605am and headed a little south and setup in 90 on a NW. Trolled north for an hour before coming back SE. Turned back NW a little north of port when we found some marks and picked away hits about twice an hour. A lot of short strikes or short lived fights lost our first 3 fish. All between 115 and 125 on the same line NW and SE. 2.7 at the ball We ended up 3 for 8 at this point. Both divers back 110 to 135 with green dots pro trolls and rapture hitman mirage noseeum flys took half the hits. 300 copper with magnum flounder pounder had 3 hits. Also had a drive by on 5 color with prototype orange superslim and a small laker on glow green meat rig with glow frog 8in spin doctor. With time running out and needing silver we pushed out a little deeper and changed up the spread to more stingers and superslim and managed to take a steelie in 150 on 5 color with stinger uv veggies. Before pulling lines. Sunday left out of holland around 7am and setup in the sliders around 140 fow. Ended up 4 for 5 Worked north and south between 125 and 160 for 4 hours with only a short strike to show for it. Tons of fish on the graph. Got a word from a friend there was a small scum line with some fish in 175 and went out there and setup a stinger and superslim spread speeding up to 3.2 at the ball. Took 2 small steelie first pass north. Both on 5 color double orange crush superslim. Coming back south rigger down 80 with superslim hawg wild takes 10 lb king. Made a couple more passes and managed a small laker before calling it a day. Tough fishing but it was a beautiful weekend on the water
  4. Trash can with spin n glow on riggers or divers either right on bottom or close. I let my rigger down till it bounces then bring it up a couple feet. Every 15 minutes I let it back down to bounce again. Also catch em on pro trolls usually chrome or silver.
  5. Boats n 'hos will be there
  6. Dripped price to 60. Willing to part to a good home for a fair offer.
  7. Fished Saturday and Sunday mornings with several friends to break into the new season. Saturday 5 for 7. left dock at 830 after waiting out the rain. Radar looked worse then it was. Started off in 65 a little south of holland trolling north. No hits for 20 minutes so we turned south. Rigger down 45 moonshine half an orange slice lands a laker. 30 minutes later another laker on a dipsy back 80 green dots pro troll, hitman mirage noseeum fly. Somewhere around the south end of the sliders full core with blue dolphin goes off. 15lb king. Went the better part of 2 hours without a hit. Fog was very dense and we came too close to boats having to make some quick turns in the very low visibility. Once it started to clear we switched out to a super slim/stinger program and pushed out to 42 degree water and took a 6 lb steelie on a 5 color stinger rotten veggies. Decided to call it as sleep deprivation was setting in. Found a shaker king on 3 color prototype orange super slim. Sunday 4 for 6. Started north by tunnel park trolling north in 65. Worked the 75 zone give or take with lots of marks but no takers either direction. Pushed out to the break in 120 and on our way back south got a 10lb king on diver back 130 green dots pro troll hitman mirage noseeum fly. After another hour with nothing decided to pull lines and run to saugy for lakers. Found a coho on the 5 color stinger rotten veggies clearing lines. Got down to saugy and setup up south in 65. Stayed for an hour and a half before calling it a day. Had 4 hits landed 2. Rigger ticking bottom with trash can and green spin and glow took 5 lb laker and 9 pound king and missed a large laker that got tangled during a double. Diver back 130 with green dots pro troll and hitman mirage noseeum fly took a laker.
  8. I got the verbal warning today too. I usually keep at 5 knots. Never been a problem before.
  9. Okay so if the whole swivel on the klincher is costed in liquid electrical tape how does the signal get transmitted from the probe to the line?
  10. Indeed some do but around 2 percent in the last graphic I saw. My understanding was that great Lakes salmon adapted that way. All the mature planters I've turned in were 3. I'm interested to see others results?
  11. When you say 3 year old do you mean immature fish in the fall? Adult kings in the great Lakes spawn at 3 years old
  12. Lite bite slide divers work otherwise you have to spread your boards and run more of em
  13. If you want a real consensus on the fishing look at the charter catches
  14. Good point supertramp. Not planters but naturals... either way people seem to say the lake is dead every year before the fish show up
  15. Waters too cold yet for lots of silver. But the ones being caught are nice or are fresh planters. I'll wait till July before putting my tin foil hat on
  16. Hey guys. Just wondering for those of you out there that use coated cable, which method of attachment do you use? Not sure if I should try it with a rigger swivel or just tie it straight?
  17. If you call ahead, like several months ahead you can get it worked out on occasions. You can apply for a permit or get legally "rehabilitated" but must be over 5 years ago.
  18. http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10365_10884-65805--,00.html
  19. It's not listed on the dnr list
  20. You can but at SOS and can even have it on your liscense plate when you register so no sticker. you can buy at state parks so GH or Holland should have them for sale
  21. It's only good for dnr launches. No city launches.
