They taste great if you know how to cook them properly. and for me fish is fish. Id take a laker or especially a brown over a skunk any day of the week. Ah well, more fish for me.

I was wondering when the first post like this was coming. Its cold, water temps barely in the 40's at best. give it time. they will come.

It may not be the best idea but what other options are their with all the floods? On the plus side lots of food for plankton and algae to eat. And it wont affect the quality of the drinking water.

No complaints on my lowrance HDS 5. does everything i need, but im just a casual sportsmen.

This is very true. I was initially surprised to find a group of seasoned fisherman who would willing tell me where/when/how they caught fish.

not only is the water levels at port sheldon pretty low, but a lot of the people who use port sheldon arent exactly pro's at loading/unloading boats or dock etiquette. it can be a circus at busy times.

Actually precipitation has little effect on water levels in lake michigan/huron. at least not like what you would think.

depends on several factors like water temps, and time of year. Some trips ill run all flasher/fly and some all spoons or a mix of each. Give the fish what they want.

I just call dave up and ask where the fish are but i tend to be pretty hard nosed when i put something down. If it aint broke dont fix it. i have hundreds of spoons but use mabey a dozen. And another thing that i do, is that i ONLY put "untested" lures in the water when the fish are biting pretty steady. That really tells you if its worth using or not in my opinion.

ive got an HDS 5 and it works great for me salmon trolling. You can adjust the ping and frequency on 2 different views and use them to get a good view of baitpods and fish all the way on the bottom.

I prefer to use freshly filleted non-brined blue or green label herring. But thats just my 2 cents also fresh caught alewives if i get any.
