  1. Well likely the last trip in the Slickcraft as I'm heading to Ludington to surf cast and camp for a bit. Ended the year going 5 for 6 with JD. 4 Nice kings and a big sheep. Green and white John King flasher with a green and white fly has been good and today was 1 for 2. Silver Hoard plug (wonder bread style???) went twice. Flounder pounder went once. Found fish in 63' of water and stayed there as we planned a bit shorter trip today. South of Holland south troll with 1 on a East troll.
  2. And I thought my personal record of a 5 line tangle last night was bad.
  3. Whatcha doin thur pm? Looks like Wed is going to be a rain out so might try for thur pm.
  4. Thanks Jon-nice trip, awesome cloud bank, wet and windy finish.
  5. Joe--I actually have this Sat off for a change if you want to get together. Your boat or mine. 90% sure I can make it.
  6. My condolences Doc, I know how much that combo meant to you. Know you're gonna miss that one!
  7. We went 15 for 19 in 265 all big Kings :-) Yeah right!
  8. Went to South Haven a week ago and it was over the docks also except is wasn't water it was 2" or goose doo. It was a mess. Hate getting my feet full of fertilizer then spreading it all over the boat.
  9. The forecast this morning had rain and maybe storms by now so I stayed at work, now I'm thinking I might have been able to get out. Oh well making plans for next week. It will be mid week sometime when we see what the weather does. I'll post probable on monday if I have opens seats
  10. We had the same thing except lost all but 2 fish
  11. Well we let most go (unintentionally) and went 2 for 6 with a nice laker and King both around 10#. Blue meat rig and flounder pounder in 110-130 around 60 down. Kept getting off and one real nice King sawed his way off using my wire as his saw to cut the mono Very nice night--Thur pm anyone?
  12. I put one out for one trip and it didn't get touched (not much of a trial). I'll try again with others as they seem like they might work just fine.
  13. Wanted real bad to find Coho so I stayed in 20ish water for quite awhile even though no one else was (I should have taken a hint). Trolled out to about 80 only marking 1 fish in about 75' of water 50 down. Should have fished the beach I guess but o-well. Talked to a guy at the launch that had slammed the Trout a few days earlier but they seemed to be gone also. Ended up with 1 King that was barely as big as the rapala he tried to eat.
  14. I use a breakaway cable to the ball and attach the probe to the end of the cable with a regular snap swivel. I drilled a hole in the metal on top of the probe and put a small bolt in it and attached a 6 or 8" piece of coated wire and put male end on it and on the snap (or clincher) or whatever its called I ran an extra 6 or so inched of cable out and put a female end on it so I can just pull them apart and remove the probe easily and have almost no bare wire. Works well. Hat tip to others including a marina that is on this site a lot but I can't think of their name at the moment for their input and pics.
  15. Thanks for all the info but we cancelled this morning when it was already over 2' and building. Glad we did as it was 3' by 8a and 4' by 10a down there
  16. water (and wind) was cold. Perch were scattered. 65-75 was the best for us. Minnows, meat (from the perch), and maggots all took a few. Behind the "hole" where it was 60-65' was where most of the boats were and there was a pack about 1/2 mile south in 50-60 that stayed there the entire time so they must have been on some.
  17. Thinking of S Haven tomorrow (Thur4-30) but can't find any reports. Anyone hear anything from there lately? or another W MI port? We did try Grand Haven today for perch and did get some nice ones (13") but could not find very many with only 20 for 3 guys.
  18. I almost went when I was able to get off work early today. Hope you get em
  19. There will be more shared info when we can get out and fish I'm sure. Many haven't even been out yet
  20. nice job JD, I was wishin I was there while I was working all day.
  21. Awesome-well done and thanks for posting
  22. Indeed!
  23. Yup--good thing I asked as I had no idea on the flares and had to add other items to the check list. Thanks for the input.
