  1. I have caught trout up high and I wouldn't think they would bloat. Last year one came on a 3 color going over 3 mph on a orange crush looking for steelhead. Weird I know and I caught a few in the spring fishing in 20' of water and the ones I let go seemed full of energy and did not appear bloated. But most end up on the smoker.
  2. What is the best way to revive without a live well. I just try to hold them along side the boat till they swim away but if they die I keep them.
  3. Its truly great to be on the great lake
  4. Thats a good one. Glad to hear some cold water is creeping back in.
  5. Waves were surprising today as the buoy seemed to indicate less then 2' but we had a bumpy ride and could only fish a north troll. Nice job on some dandy fish.
  6. most hits deep, riggers 5-10' from bottom and 10 above that; 275 out on a mag diver set on 2; 300 copper, and 200 copper took one.
  7. Very bumpy but we went for a short troll. Fought the waves out to 60' trying to get a bit South to start and seeing as we were getting wet with spray we just set lines there and headed NW. Couldn't troll S so we just made one pass angling out to 100' where we went 4 for 6 in a little over an hour and then had to head in. 5 of out 6 poles fired. Big white paddle with blue/green fly right on the bottom went 2 times. Purple Ace high, green chrome spoon, and blue spin doc with green meat rig went twice. Long slow bumpy ride back:(
  8. Going to have to figure 9pm as a cutoff to try. Thanks to those who are looking for me.
  9. A friend of my son called tonight looking for a charter for tomorrow. I know its late but if you know of one call or pm me. He is getting married Saturday and some family is in that has never big lake fished and I can't take 4 or 5 in my boat. Holland or close Thanks Bob
  10. Boat name is Coralee
  11. Never found a real hot spot just a few here and there. Started in 70' and trolled to 220 picking up 1 in around 100, 1 in 140, 2 in 195, 1 on the way back in 160. 5 for 5 with 2 of us, Nothing hot. Flounder, purple ace high, and several meat rigs blue and green. A little bit bumpy today. Boat still floats after a few weeks off
  12. With out it today would have been bad. Had to vary the speed at least 1.5 mph due to current down below. And as said above its nice finding temp and it can change a lot.
  13. I have 2 Gander Mountain steelhead rods around 9' that work pretty good for up to 3/4 oz but looking for a stiffer rod that can cast 1 oz or maybe even 1 and 1/2 that is light and easy on the arms and wrists but can still cast a mile. Any suggestions? Thank you
  14. Thanks for the report Ben. I plan on going out on Wed am and it gives me some good info.
  15. Nice work Dave Good to hear about the bait as others have said its scarce out there.
  16. Had a great day, thanks a bunch Doc. First "reel" action for me in a couple weeks as I was relegated to riding and watching for a bit and boy it felt good to win a tug of war with a King!
  17. PS-Forgot to add Fill jar with cold water, mix, and keep cold in the fridge. Meat stays nice for a long time.
  18. Stick em in a canning jar with a handful of borax and a handful of kosher salt and they will last a long time in the fridge.
  19. whoops -didn't mean to post this here, just in the ride-rider section and don't know how to delete this one
  20. Another week or 2 before I can get back to launching my boat yet and I'm not ready to fight or clean fish (surgery) but would love to just go along for the ride. Willing to chip in and do lite duty helps. Holland or close port. Thanks Bob
  21. Very nice thanks TJ (and Aaron) for sharing.
  22. Tangle monster strikes again? Thanks for the report.
  23. Worked our way out to 160 where we went 6 for 10 or 11 in an hour or so but we could not troll South into the waves and things were rough so we pulled lines and bounced back. Flounder on rigger down 55, blue bubble on wire back 110 and light blue plug on 150 copper were the best ones today. Would have stayed home if I had known how rough it was. Never had 15 minutes between 160 and 170 without a hit.
  24. Nate first great lakes Salmon. His dads phone must not take the best of pics but a pic is still worth a thousand words. Nate did all the work except I hauled in one during a double. After his limit we still got back in time for a late breakfast.
  25. Good job. always fun to see someone get their first King. The traffic is one reason why I work Sat and have Wed off.
