  1. It pushes Michigan's gas tax to the highest in the country and also allows more hikes in the future without even a debate. We need less government waste not give them more to waste. I've lived long enough to see that giving the government more money never really fixed anything.
  2. You can be sure the government is already trying to figure a way to get more tax on it. Michigan already has a gas tax hike in the works (GET OUT AND VOTE NO)--Tell them to spend the current gas taxes on roads like their supposed to.
  3. Hi Scott

not sure if we touched base last year?? but I am interested as I have the same problem exactly. My regular day off is Wed but I can ofter make an afternoon trip (3 ish) I have a well equipped Slickcraft so if it works out we can trade trips or I'd be happy to join you more often if you prefer your boat and I'd chip in for costs. I would like to get a crew for the 3+1 tourney which is normally on Thursday nights and I also like to join the DreamWeaver tourney-last year we took 3rd place in it--

Anyway let me know if you want to get together on this. I'm doing some work on my boat now and your welcome to stop in and check it out if you like.

  4. Hey Joe I have the Terrova with 80# thust on my 17' Prosport which is a fairly heavy glass center console and I love it. It works great. I don't remember which batteries I got but I bought them from Drummond Marine and they have done well. I can steer the boat easy for 6 hours while pushing with a kicker. Your welcome to come over and check it out or go out with me in the spring. (Its getting closer :-) ) I use this one for early and late fishing or when no one is available to help me with the Slickcraft.
  5. If anyone is looking at this post just let me add that I didn't want an older glass boat like this but was convinced by others that it was a good way to go. I now own a Slickcraft ss235 and love it and am very happy I went this route. This looks like a nice boat. They ride and fish great.
  6. Congratulations on the Master Angler. Next year we'll have to do some side by side trolling with different setups and see what happens. --course I know as soon as something starts popping I'll want to put more of it out :-)
  7. The center of the lake buoy has 17 footers right now and I think you can see the edge of them on Spyglass webcam. Its rough at the pier but it looks like much bigger ones on the horizon. Fish on!
  8. Hoping to head out Fri am (23rd) and want to know if the docks are in at the Holland dnr launch. Also looks like I have 1 open seat. Hope to fish aprox 9 or 10 am till 2 or 3.
  9. Way to go JD, I wanted to get out Friday but it just didn't work out. I never count 6 fish as slow. I may have fished for another 6 hours to try for a Coho though:-) Great job. Didn't know Browns could swim that fast
  10. Congratulations on a really nice looking fishing machine.
  11. My guess (just a guess) is out 160-250 for another 3-4 weeks then in tight.
  12. 125-150' of water, 300 copper 2 times, rigger 2 times about 75 down, 3 and 7 color and yes its a glow easter. Reg size red head moonshine went twice also
  13. Went 6 for 7 on a solo trip today throwing one back. Started slow but later in the day I put out some steelhead colors and picked up speed and went 3 for 4 on steelies. Lots of big marks just inside Lake Mac and 2 Kings jumping in front of the piers on the way back in. This guy was the last one in around noon.
  14. Did I see your boat on plane while you were trolling?? hee hee
  15. I'm interested in picking up a couple surf casting rods and looking for input on brand and where to buy them. Interested in used also. I'm thinking about 12' rods and good sized reels. Thanks for any advice. To be used to cast spawn bags.
  16. Thanks Kabet-super nice day out there today. We were in a bit closer and fought 2 tangles but still managed 5 for 7
  17. Sorry, yes it was Holland just a bit south.
  18. 3 for 4 today. Seem stuck on 3 lately. Lots of cold water close but no fish. Started at the pier heads but nothing going so headed out and only marked an occasional fish till 125. Then got 3 between there and 145 on chrome j, whole meat, meat strip. 150 copper highest and 70 down lowest. Was bracing for the 2-4's and got a beautiful day all day with gentle rollers to start and going almost dead calm. Water warmed around 120. Really nice day on the water.
  19. I was hit with a baseball in the eye years ago and those bright spreader lights are blinding to me as my eye is dilated open all the time. That would make it very difficult for me to see a small boat with its normal lights on. Please do not use the speaders with boats behind you even way behind as it blinds us to boats coming from the side besides making forward watching hard. A head lamp works just fine if you need to set lines or floor lighting that just luminates upward. And if I may add it would be nice for people to turn their headlights off at the dock as that also makes backing up very difficult. And yes most vehicles do have a way to turn them off.
  20. The downtown ramp is the closest but its steep, not sure of the condition of the Douglas ramp. I live about 20min away and you're welcome to leave your trailer by me. 138th and 43rd nearest cross street, 49419. (Hamilton area)
  21. I make it both ways. Most often dip in milk and shake in a bag with dry breading for a lighter breading and crisp or mix milk or water with breading till pancake consistency and dip fish for a thicker, crispier outside (like in pic)
  22. Cut away everything but the meat, vein, pin bones, fat etc (hence the pieces) soak in club soda for 10 min, pat dry, dip in batter (this was shore lunch but I also use drakes, andy's, and there is an awesome cajan one made but outdoorsman or something like that) and fry at 370 in fresh olive oil--not too long!
  23. You go first on the spark plug. Scent of many sorts can have their day.
  24. I rewired them separately back to the fuse box and they work fine. I also figured out it was the autopilot that was somehow causing the flickering but the rewiring has fixed it.
  25. Extra hot for extra crispy outside
