  4. Hey guys......heading down to Florida for my wife's birthday toward the end of May. Flights and accommodations are all set. Looking around a little bit at taking a charter to fish. Does anyone here, have a recommendations for a Captain in the area? Not looking to go offshore, as the rates for a trip like that are more than I care to spend ($1200 for a 1/2 day). But looking at some "Backcountry" fishing seems pretty reasonable with the average about $450 a trip. Anyway, just looking to see if anyone has a suggestion in the area. Thanks
  5. Nice work puttin da' boots to the COHO Dirty Dog!
  6. I don't recall the brand that I bought, but, I love them. I have a mounting base which makes the trees removable, which I like. The trees are a great addition for planer board fishing. Since I bought mine, several of the companies producing them have really tweaked things with their set ups. Something I have seen, which seems very functional, is each rod holder on the trees are adjustable, I bet that is the cat's meow.
  7. That's a great "shakedown". What was your recipe for success?
  8. Thanks for the report! Your 2014 fish count is looking REALLY GOOD! for this time of the year!
  9. Oh boy!!!!!!! Sweet that you're out, and that the fish were cooperative. :D:D
  10. Lemons out of lemonade! If it's here, and it's safe....heck yeah! When I was out Sunday on inland lake in Livingston county, it didn't take long for me to realize that even with 12" of ice, it just wasn't GOOD / SAFE ice. I was catching fish, and as the sun rose and warmed the day, the crackling was enough for me to say.....THAT'S IT......IT'S OVER FOR ME!
  11. Nice job on da' feeeesh! I was itching to get out there one last time, but that's not happening! Can't wait for that ice to break up and leave the bay!
  12. Thanks for the report! Trying to get out ONE more time myself...not sure if it's in the cards or not! Buddies hammered em outta linwood last night as well!
  13. 1st week in April I saw forecasted temps into the 50's and 60's...I hope so!
  14. I'd guess you really have the itch for this ice to disappear, esp. with the new rig
  15. Thanks for the insight TS! I hope your prediction is close, can't wait to,get up,to Au Gres on the boat! Good luck:thumb:
  16. Launched out of the Bay City State Park Saturday a little before noon. Stopped at an 11' hump surrounded by 13fow for about an hour. Didn't mark anything, so I packed up to move out a bit deeper. My buddy Joe stopped by as I was breaking down and he was heading to the same general area that I was looking to go. I stopped by where he was setting up, and saw an old waypoint about a 1/2 mile north of there. So, I spread out in hopes that one of us was on some fish. Wasn't long after setting up and I started marking fish on the vex. When I marked them, I raised the blue/chrome jiggin rap about 3' up and they came in and were smashing it. I experienced a fantastic mid day bite from about 230-530. I missed a lot of fish, but was able to put my 5 on the ice. I sat on 4 fish for a long time hoping for a bigger one, but at days end this is what I brought home. I messaged Joe and his buddy to move over next to me, they did. 3 of us were 1 short of a 3 man limit. It was hands down the best action I've seen on the ice for walleyes. That will pretty much do it for me on the bay, maybe a trip out hoofin it looking for perch in the shallows. I was in 16fow, pretty close to the east / west crack that is in the Linwood area. http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/3/1/5/wp_20140315_013_thumb.jpg' alt='wp_20140315_013_thumb.jpg'>
