  1. For the last few seasons a section of my floor toward the dog house continued to become "springy". Well, I didn't know what in the heck to expect, but knew it MUST be replaced. So I opened up the can o' worms and found some good and a little bad. The good, my stringers and everything else below the floor are in great condition. The bad, I tore up a 3x6 section of floor and replaced it. What i noticed upon my initial inspection was a rotten support under the floor which is over the gas tank. So I cut it out and inspected everything. There was one support ( a 2x4 from front to back, running parallel with the stringers, roughly 6' long that just wasn't stout enough for the work load. So, I made a few modifications to beef up the floor, and it turned out great. I put a small sub frame to beef up the support for the floor between the stringers. Everything fits pretty good with minor gaps. Where my access panel is for the fuel pump I used some butyl caulk(it's like a rubber) in an effort to divert water elsewhere. This is where the problem actually stemmed from. The water was seeping into that panel and down that support, which was only getting more rotten with time. So the new plywood is in. I've sealed it, and have used that rubber caulk in the seams to make it water tight. Hoping this little fix will give me several more years out of this old fishin tub.
