  1. They should work. As you are well aware, when they're on the feed you just need to be on them. Funny to see some banter about ice fishing, my partner during the winter and I are already looking forward to some hard water. Hopefully we have a good winter of fishing.
  2. Nice work Captain!!!! Those numbers are solid. Talked to a few others fishing other ports this weekend, and your catch dwarfs their numbers. Wish I had more time, this not fishing crap is for the birds.......
  3. Wow!!!! I've been told that re-fueling your boat can be one of the most dangerous activities involved with boating. Those pictures sure paint a nasty picture. Hope everyone is OK.
  4. I have had this site bookmarked for some time and really enjoy looking around at all sorts of different areas. Take a look, I think it is cool. And if anyone else has a similar site, let me see..... http://www.flashearth.com/
  5. made a call to the DNR yesterday to report the nets. I was told per the consent decree, Indians can net for salmon. However, they are still looking into these nets, as there was nothing on paper about these nets being there. Will post again when I hear back from them as to what those nets are, and what they are netting.
  6. It's that time of year again, time to hit the rivers. Myself and the boys made our annual commute to the U.P. We left 9/25 late and returned home 9/28. The color tour was pretty good, should be peaking here this week. The fishing was good too. I can tell you that there are a lot of fish to be had right now. We hit a few rivers that we've done well on in the past, and found fish there again. Just about every river that we checked had some sort of fish in it. Shear numbers were more than I have seen on some of these rivers, but others there were only a few. I did see something that I just can't figure out. I think that it was indian nets out in front of a small trib. There was almost a little bay, very little, and it looked to be some sort of net stretched from one side to the other. Which really had me scratching my head as to why it would be right in front of a good river for salmon to spawn. Furthermore, I don't believe indians can net salmon, I am not certain though????? Good time, great weather and lots of fish. Everything we caught, was put right back into the water. If we want salmon, we'll take em' out of the lake, and not when they're all skanked out in the rivers. That U.P. sure is a great place.....
  7. Good luck, it's been a long time since I've been out too. Next chance I'll have will be on the 18th, and that will be it for the year...
  8. That is inspiration! Just wrapping up my daughter's first birthday today. I can't wait to get her excited about doing some fishing as she grows up, now if I could get the lady to settle down, and not be so anxious out there, it would be perfect:lol: Good weekend to be on the water...
  9. 4.8# wow! Guess all the big boys are on their beds.....I bet that 4.8#er will be pretty tasty though... Good day to be on the water for sure, wish I could have.... Nice job, 8/9 is a great day:grin:
  10. Does anyone here, have any space that I could store my boat? Indoor preferably. I was looking to store it somewhere along the bay. It is in Au Gres right now. I have been putting it in Bad Axe for a great deal, but this year I was hoping to save all the trailering around and finding something a little bit closer. Any help is very appreciated....
  11. Well per the national news this morning Ike has spiked the gas prices by $.06/gallon to an average of $3.79. Wow, we are at $4.19, no this is not gouging. Hope the price comes down by the time I fill up this week, or the poor gas station attendant is going to get an earful.
  12. It has happened, gas prices spiked again, hitting $4.19/gallon here in Burton. I bought gas last week in Ypsilanti for $3.58/gallon, $.60/gallon increase??????? What a bunch of crap. We need to find a way in this country to be energy independent. From the sounds of things we have the resources in this country to do it, but sounds like a lot of red tape to get through, wish I knew how and I would lead the way.
  13. 14/17 is a job well done!!!! Looks like one of your fish has osteoperosis.
  14. I have a few superstitions. 1. Never bring a banana on my boat, ever! 2. No beer drinking before the 1st fish, or 7:00 a.m. 3. A round of beers is customary after the 1st fish, kind of a celebration. A few times we have forgot about the celebratory beer and fishing slowed. Never seems to fail, when we crack the beer shortly into the slurping we hit another fish. 4. Don't ever say out loud, " I think we're really going to nail em' today." This statement brings out some of the worst fishing possible.
  15. Only Trout off the Husky Jerk this year. Nice Tawas Bay Steelie..... The best walleye to be boated by the Husky Jerk, Au Gres...30"
  16. Exactly!
  17. Got that right Dan. I have even given a few waypoints to people I thought could use the help. I figured these guys are coming a long way to try the bay so why not give them a little extra help, and hopefully it will leave a positive impression and keep bringing them back for the outstanding fishing we are experiencing on the bay. There are plenty of fish out there for all of us, in my eyes. Furthermore, I believe you can learn something from just about everybody. Take a little from everyone and it helps us all. I also try and give back, I don't have any secrets to what I use or how I use it, it's just the way I am. If it helps someone out putting fish in the box, GREAT! If not, well that's just fishing. j1musser is right on, this is hands down my favorite fishing site. Everyone is friendly, informative, and there is tons of great information on this site. Good luck Dan....
  18. Well more good news this morning on Fox 2 Detroit. The newscasters said brace yourself for the $.40-.60 increase in the price of a gallon of gas by the end of the day today, because of this hurricane. Still no rhyme or reason for the thirty cent increase on Tuesday, now they're talking of another increase. If another increase hits today that could almost be a full dollar raise in the price of gasoline in one week, while the price of a barrel continues to be around a $100/ barrel. I wish somehow I could scam people out of money like this, and somehow have it be legal.
  19. Have had a couple of down days while my truck was in for some drive shaft issues. Took to watching the stock market this morning, keeping an eye on the falling price of crude oil. Closed at the day just off $4.00/barrel less then yesterday. A barrel is almost at $100/barrel. Funny when we ran out to pick up the truck and noticed that gasoline went up nearly $.30/gallon back up to $3.95:angry2:. I also watched OPEC today with an optimistic outlook on the falling price of oil of the next couple of months. I don't know why the hike, I think maybe it is in preparation for this IKE hurricane. Boy there are 12 different ways to skin a cat and these S.O.B's at the oil companies have really got us bent over a barrel. They are screwing us any which way they can, and while doing so posting record profits for their company. Anyway they can squeeze some more profits out of us they will. No wonder this economy sucks and so many people are in hard times.
  20. Lake Effect continues to have good days out of PWater. Nice Job!
  21. Sounds like a good trip to me. I have found that sometimes when we are going to fish for salmon the stable weather we've had disappears and everything changes. It kind of throws a monkey wrench in our game plan. I also think the change in the wind can really screw up the fishing, you can still get em', but you have to adapt accordingly. One time last year out of Manistee we tried that really skinny water, like 20-30fow. Fish were everywhere, rolling on the surface in some kind of feeding frenzy. We whacked a bunch first thing in the morning in that shallow, and as the sun made it's way over the sand banks we headed deeper. Thanks for the report. AB, are you done fishing the bay? Or are you just taking a break for a bit?
  22. Great day fishing!!!! Like the detailed report, thanks....
  23. MMMMMMMM!!!! Tasty little devils. Good job...
