Where in the world did you find it for $250?
-
Vitalidle-I am going to pick up the exact same FF unit that you have pictured tomorrow. It's brand new in the box and will come with warranty and everything. I want to know what you think of the FF?

Nice work! I just caught the part where you made note of having 5 on at one time:good:, that is what I like to call a Chinese firedrill! I bet there was some hootin & hollarin going on for that... -
I've been storing the HJ @ a few different places the last few years. Last year was near tawas ($280) indoor storage, no heat. Year b4 was bad axe, great place, new building $100 no heat. This year checking out a new place closer to the house near dryden rd and van dyke, $189 no heat. I've been checking around to find someone like you're talking about AB, I'll find them in time. Eric do you winterize your boat?

Where to start???? My main thing this year is going to be to modify my frabill hideout so it is a self contained unit. I'm going to make a box (if you will), that will hold all of my gear, put some runners on the bottom of it, and then some how fabricate it up so that the frame for the shanty will work off the box, which will also double as my seat. I will lose the plastic floor that comes with this unit. My reason for doing this is that the plastic floor that I was using is where I put all my gear, and when towing it out on the bay it gets filled up with snow/slush so everytime I move and then set back up I have to clean all my gear. My buddy made something like this last year and it was the cat's meow. Other than that I would love to get my hands on a vex or lowrance flasher to help me eliminate unproductive waters. Then a snow flap on the back of the sled, and I may even sell my sled and buy another for the same price that is in a little better condition. Hopefully these changes in my equipment will be functional, make setting up easier and generally aid in enjoying ice fishing more.

A warm welcome John. Looks like we have a lot in common, probably no surprise to find like minded fellows on a website like this. Great group of guys here, look forward to any reports you can share with us...if you need something give a yell and I'm sure someone will be able to help...

Fun to watch a steelhead leap out of the water, knowing that he's on one of the lures but not sure which one. You surely got the program dialed in, Sweet job. Should have just stayed the night and blew work off again tomorrow, next time. Thanks Jay! -
This is a good one. While I am concerned about where we are headed, I don't think it is productive to dwell on where we've been. I think that the Government in general is screwed up from the presidency to the house the senate, on state levels and city levels and so on. It seems to me that regardless of being a Democrat or Republican that most politicians suck! How bad is it when you go to a pole to vote for one candidate just to take a vote away from another, that there is no clear choice for a good candidate. McCain wouldn't be doing any better then Obama, and don't misconstrue what I'm saying, cause obama's doing quite a bang up job in there. But apparently through the eyes of the people that are giving out nobel peace prizes he has done something Nobel, what I'm still trying to figure out. I think there is one thing that over the course of time that has been consistent, and that is consumption. Steadily has been on the rise since industrialization started. I wish gas was $1.00/gallon also, and a candy bar was .50, and a gallon of milk were $1.00, but they, and I mean producers, traders, have us up against the ropes. You want to pay $1.00/gallon of gas, then everybody needs to use less of it. It's simple supply and demand. There are ways to produce more of the things we need the most, but apparently someone has put up a road block. And in most instances it's someone with a heavily vested interest that stops increased production of such goods so they can obtain a premium for the good. In simple terms, they can beat us over the head, and we will still buy things because we need to. When will it ever stop? Never. I think that government has slipped away from it's intended purpose of being for the people by the people. It seems to me that most officials in government, especially higher ranking officials, come from money and power and have a skewed sense of what's in everybodies best interest. Years ago, like Dan said, none of this mattered to me, but as I grow older and am more aware of things that are going on in the world it chaps my ass. We have enough problems here on the homefront to take care of, but were spending billions of dollars on a war that is going no where. It just gets worse and worse as time goes on. :angry2: Just needed to vent...

Now here's what I look for when I trailer my boat. I look for a place ahead of time, so next time I come up all I need to do is hook up to her and go dip her in the water. There are places all over the state that will accomadate this. I bring home all gear and tackle, just to be safe. It's not about the money it costs to trailer a boat, just the fact that I don't really care to trailer the boat, less is more for me. Keep us posted if you buy so I can drool

Looks like some dude w/out a trailer hitch, and only a ball on his bumper stole your boat, but didn't realize that the outdrive was toar off the boat, won't get to far down the channel like that eh... Probably a sad day to see the ole girl go, but from the sounds of things you've got a good head on your shoulders, and will land your keester behind the helm of an upgraded rig. Now's the time to buy for sure, I'm not going to buy a new one for a few years, but am already lookin, and there's a lot of nice stuff now for cheap. Boat I saw that I would look at was "Nibbles" out of Frankfort...oh so many for sale and only so many hours in a day. One thing you could do next summer, is line up different boats every weekend of the summer. Just tell them you're interested in buying the boat but you would only buy it after fishing with it for a weekend.

I like it, should be a bumper sticker! Been a long time since I've been ripped off, but when I was it really ticked me off... I think I know who did, I've been baiting ever since waiting for him to come back for something, when they do it's on...

That does look nice! I've been into finish carpentry work and done quite a few mantels, and yours looks very similar to a few I have done, guess great minds think a like. What is different about yours is the depth to cover the wood burner and the surround being tile top/bottom & 2 sides. I like it! Could easily sip a barely and fall asleep in a recliner near that...

Nice job jay. 16 mile run, that's a long way to go, better then raking leaves... -
That's a great reason not to be on the board, out in the field doing what you love to do. Nice job... Now what do you do with all the birds? What I mean is how do you prepare them?

Nice work Mike! Wish I could get back out too. Thinking about winterizing the boat this week, and then...indian summer. Like the looks the spoon, I am not surprised that it would catch steel -

SWEET!!! I tried last weekend out of Pentwater and only managed 4, 2 steel & 2 small kings. Was thinking to myself today that the weather this weekend would have been a lot better to fish. Thanks for the report....! -

Me too. Just give me a little notice and I'll make my way over -
Surely a long read, however well worth getting informed. I for one, don't like the idea of closing down any access due to government. So who do you send a message to, a letter if you will stating the concerns about this Federal Task force and the repercussions that could be felt by local fisheries? Even better, instead of one measly voice, what can we do as a whole(sport fishermen) to come together and voice a much louder voice of our concerns about this task force?
-
Mike that really comes as a shock with as much as you do with websites and what have you...don't offer it in your area?

I have a ton of little clips like this. I am working toward being able to edit them into one nice short film of clips. I'm just trying to figure out the editing part of video, and is a slow boat to china. The software I have is not the easiest to work with, and I'm too cheap to spend the money, I will get mad with it at some point and go buy something that will allow for good, easy editing.
