  1. Been there done that. Sometimes when you only have a limited window of time to fish we use bad judgement. I've learned that if conditions are not good it's best just to call it and live to fight another day. Sometimes it's rough and doesn't make for a fun day of fishing, you get all uptight and somewhat anxious and on edge all day because of the less than ideal conditions. I was caught in a nasty storm on Holloway when I first bought the boat. Knew that inclement weather was on it's way, but we went anyway. Straight line winds, heavy heavy down poor and lightning. We were across from the launch, visibility went to hell and a handbag, the wind made boat control unmanageable, it was terrible and I was very nervous, that lightning scared the jeepers out of me. The way that wind whipped up yesterday was something else, went from a decent breeze to full force gusts like you said 35 MPH. I even thought about the people out fishing that were stuck in it. You made it, and from the sounds of things won't be back anytime soon in conditions forecasted like that....
  2. And an Oberon to top it off:thumb:
  3. Sounds like a great day on the water for sure. Sea Mac, what is this lure that you are giving away? And where can I get mine:lol:
  4. A few more hours and the boat will be clean! New Raymarine DS500X FF and a new Raymarine 49 Shipe to Shore marine radio. New Todds marine captains chair and a 50 pack of laurick??? lauvrick planer board releases. It's just about go time for the husky jerk
  5. 22/23??? Is that good? Great job Mike. Looks like you put quite a few miles on the boat, must be trying to burn last years expensive gas:lol: :thumb:
  6. Yowza! Very cool sight to see for sure
  7. No pics available, PC is being cleaned up by IT department. I will look into it and see what I can come up with. You guys surely have good ideas....thanks
  8. I'm going to revisit the idea of mounting it up top. Too many electronics on the dash already, it would be even more crowded. I was looking to avoid mounting up top because of unsightly wires. Looked at it and there didn't seem to be any good way to hide the wires
  9. Great! Thanks for the report. I suppose it's going to get hot pretty quick over there. Maybe over there next weekend....
  10. Frank - put the new Marine Radio on the boat, so there's a big safety feature for the HJ....now just need to figure out where the heck to mount it....???? Powered it up and voila....good to go. Maybe this year you'll be able to hear me!:thumb:
  11. Some nice looking brownies there.....
  12. Sounds great songdog. Will be pulling the boat this week, and will be looking to head that way for some early sesaon fishing. I 've had success with lakers over there, and heard about the silver, but was a day late last time. Keep the reports coming....thanks
  13. I would bet that she could focus her efforts on much more meaningful issues. " I am just blown away"
  14. I am partial to the 330 GTI by penn. I bought one brand new around $120ish, I like it so much that I found 2 used in great conditions for $100. I have used store brand reels and just not impressed.
  15. I think AB pretty much covered it, you can take that to the bank! I do run 2 riggers for eyes on the bay, they do catch fish, no doubt, but not enough fish that I would use them solely! I've checked out some new DR releases that I'm going to get hooked up, Chamberlains, they look to be just what the Dr. ordered for light bitin' walleye. The problem with the riggers now is that is not easy to detect a bite, as walleye will get hooked and swim with the boat and you could drag a fish for a long while if you don't check, which is very unproductive. Good luck to ya, I fish out of Au Gres until the middle of July... give me a shout out there "husky jerk"....
  16. Sounds like a good day to make it a point to eat meat. Just shows you how easily J Lo from the block is swayed into doing something, what an idiot! Pulling some eyes out to thaw and it will be fish dinner tonight....
  17. I put 3, 4, & 5 color on 2 209's and they work okay. I prefer to use the penn 330 gti's, they seem to have a better retrieve ratio.
  18. I purchased a raymarine, and have seen some in action and they come highly recomended
  19. Any day and it will turn on down there. Once you hear about Michigan City it will be gangbusters in NB.
  20. It's gonna be a long 11 days! Soon my friend, but not soon enough.....
  21. Took Ashley to the fishing show in Birch Run today. Breakfast with the guys and then off to check out what Birch Run had to offer. What a trooper, but was talking about "the guys" on the way home. "Those are your fishin' buddies?" Yes dear, would you like to go fishing with us, yes...so funny. We did hit the trout pond, it was kinda funny to watch her yank 2 of those trout in, when they got near the rail they were splashing her and her little buddy pretty good, we all had a good laugh. She will be whackin' some eyes on the Husky Jerk soon enough. She already knows "fish on!", get the net and of course "don't horse em!"
  22. sea flea
  23. All good options. The only one above that I would fasten to your LC line would be the dive bombs. I have used them and not noticed any adverse affects on the line.
  24. Nice, with a bow? pot pie looks tasty, and nothing better to wash then down with than that bells:cool:
  25. Wish I saw this sooner, that would be my rocket launcher on the hard top, someone got a great deal!
