  1. Boy that sounds like a great day. Some salmon, some trout and those perch....yum
  2. Thanks for the report. Sounds like a good day to me:thumb: Salmon fishing followed by a blue gill get together:D. Putting the plan in the works starting now. I can't take it anymore, I need to fight a fish instead of dragging them in.
  3. That's sweet Mike:thumb:
  4. Sounds like a good trip with over 30 fish. And even better that it's been that many years since you've fished for them and you still got it:thumb:. It's funny about gear and rigging, each boat that I fish on has subtle differences and as time goes on you figure out what you like and don't like but it takes the time being out there to figure it out. Keep on em!
  5. don't worry about it. I sent enough of them small guys back on Saturday, along with several other people fishing that I know of. Nice job on the fish! Big or Little island?
  6. I bought a raymarine unit for $100 shipped to my door. Check out Bethel Marine Electronics out of FL. They are usually running some kind of specials. Here's the link http://www.bethel-marine.com/html/specials.html Doesn't look like they are on special anymore, but it might be worth a call. Mention something about the RM 49 that was on special for $95 and maybe they'll talk turkey with you. It's a real nice unit. It can hook right up to your GPS and has all sorts of functions that I don't even know how to use yet. Good luck
  7. Tough fishing for sure this year. I have taken less trips than I would like and have not caught fish with the frequency of last years catch rates. We were also near 1 & 2 on Saturday. I covered the water column from 10' down to tracking the bottom trolling spoons. 2.2 - 2.5 was our best. We caught 7 keepers, some farm animals and throwback walleye. I do know the FF was lit up all day. There were fish everywhere, however as you are aware they were not on the feed heavy. Tough to say the reason, but my electronics tell me they were there.
  8. I fish for walleye a lot and have found that I can't get slow enough either. My fix was the addition of a kicker.
  9. Been there done that Maniac, I feel your pain. Momma said there'd be days like this!
  10. That's what it's all about right there.
  11. It was definitely a great day on the water weather wise. Fishing is still tough. We caught a fair amount of walleye, but only 7 keepers. I was running my LC and Jet program north of 1 & 2 where we found a decent school and not another boat for more than a mile. 2 color w/ moonshine bleeding smelt took a few. Stinger scorpion monkey puke off the DR took a couple. 3 color with Fish Bones Custom chameleon spoon harness took a couple and then some FBC purple with pink spoons produced also. 2nd dinner was very very good:thumb: It's always good to chew the fat and talk fishing with ya Adam. Good luck over in Lud'ville, maybe we'll get together over there before you start making your way into the woods.
  12. Boy, we've got a lot in common:thumb:
  13. I know the kind that you are talking about. If they're new to it, then I can cut you some slack, as we've all been there and learned. Now after owning my own boat for years it sure is nice when I have a buddy that knows a little something about loading a boat. But lately 75% of the time I'm loading and unloading my boat on the trailer solo. It took a little time to figure it out just right, and is not the ideal way to launch the boat solo, but, I can launch and land my boat better and faster than a good deal of these yahoos who don't have a clue. I witnessed some folks loading up a couple of weekends ago while I was breaking down the gear and loading it into my truck while I was still in the slip. These guys were loading these 14' and 16' tin cans for about 45 minutes between the 2 of them. Some how the one dude ended up with his boat perpendicular to the trailer. I just relaxed and chuckled a little bit.
  14. Yet another steelhead? Nice job Frank!
  15. :thumb:Now you're cookin with grease!
  16. Heck ya! I'm sure those little guys had a ball
  17. Top notch. Actually, a very nice gentleman saw me wrenching and putting in some new plugs and we got to yappin. Turns out to be a retired automotive engineer, so for the next 2 hours he helps me go through the boat and look at possible solutions. Long story short, turned out to be the coil wire. But now she's running awesome, such a relief:thumb:
  18. Nice job Adam! We were running around switching lures all day trying to get the fish we were marking to go. Even tried in lines and bb w/harnesses but couldn't get that to work either. Pretty sure once that kicker is installed my success rate with harnesses is going to sky rocket.
  19. I like to run riggers for walleye, and I think I have finally found the release that will work for them. The chamberlain release. You can set the tension for the release both vertically ( to the rod tip) and horizontally to the lure.
  20. Ah the old Chinese fire drill! Sounds like some good action:thumb:
  21. Ouch! That one surely hurt! What a moron
  22. Nice job Scott. While sitting on the beach on LK Huron I could only think about how favorable the conditions were to be out on the boat fishing. Looks like you guys got into some good ones.
  23. Nice job, some real nice looking steel
