  1. Agreed, it is a temporary solution to keep it from freezing until it's too cold. Lately with the temps at night and the warmth during the day you should have no issues. Regardless of temps the last trip for me is the weekend of 11/4 and then it's off to storage. This is the biggest downside for owning and I/O.
  2. As long as we don't have freezing temps for a few days you should be okay. I think it would take a bit of time below freezing to freeze the block. A trick a buddy of mine has mentioned, is that when it gets colder to stick a work light in the doghouse and leave it on to keep the motor from freezing.
  3. that there is a nice pile of fish:thumb:
  4. Thanks for the recap Matt. Sure would be cool to mate for a boat. certainly a roller coaster of a year weather wise. It seems that the only times the weather was conducive of fishing was during the week for the most part, leaving us weekend warriors less time to fish this summer. I think that most of us weekend guy's numbers this year are down generally speaking, because of the lack of opportunity to fish. Boat's not put away yet, a couple more weekends and it will be time to get'r ready for winter. I'm hoping for better weather and better fishing next year too. Good Luck!
  5. Fantastic Reds you posted! Great fishery down there, something to go for all the time.
  6. Put another year in the books. Myself, just like you, wished I could have spent more time on the water this summer. But the weather just wasn't condusive of allowing us out. Looking forward to some hardwater, a little more bird hunting and some foot ball! Hopefully next summer is a better chapter in the book
  7. The worst part is, between the 3 boats out fishing this weekend that I know personally, my boat being one of them, we covered a lot of water and cumulatively didn't catch good numbers of fish. But that's fishing. Nice job Eric! 22# laker:thumb: Season's not over yet, however some nice weather (stable) I think would help things out a ton. The mid southern ports have been producing decent fishing in general from what I've been reading lately....they can run, but they can't hid
  8. Absolutely this is an issue with me too. There's no need for this to happen, embarassing if you ask me. Along with all of the raw to partially treated sewage that overflows from the treatment plants into the great lakes. Just disgusting, you would think they would take some action so these kinds of things don't happen
  9. Sounds like something I would look into. Price is right, just wonder from the boat sitting for so long what could potentially be problematic with it. I'm a big fan of leaving my boats in ports of interest to save wear and tear on my equipment. If it's in your budget and it's something that will work for you personally I would seriously consider it. That seems like a reasonable deal, heck you maybe able to get him to come down a little bit if you express your concerns about what could potnetially be wrong with it from sitting for so long along with the no spark issue. Good luck!
  10. Despite my optimism, mother nature screwed us again.... The predicted light winds for Saturday morning had been moved to saturday night. Anyway, not much to report. Had a great time with the crew. Fished saturday night out of Frankfort, went to the herring hole nothing. Wanted to be out front of the piers right at dark and nothing there either. I did get boarded by the coast guard on the way in, it was interesting, they don't give stickers anymore instead I got a sheet of paper noting that my boat meets their safety standards. Sunday A.M. launched out of Arcadia in the dark and motored out. Messed around in 100fow'ish and then put er' on a west troll. Switched lures for a while and made it out to 600fow with only one steelhead to show for our efforts, which was caught on the freshly tied 45# 125' CU. Was marking a lot of bait in 550fow, did a few figure eights and there was bait all over, but no fish. BIL caught 5 in between Onekama and Manistee. We made one pass thru the barrel for grins b4 we packed it in. Monday A.M. launched out of Onekama, left the dock @ 6:30 and made our way out. Dropped lines and headed SW to the area where Eli got his fish on sunday. took 4 fish, all juvenile's. 2 kings, and 2 steelies. Deep today. We had a great time regardless of the less than ideal conditions. I thought about hitting the deep water off Arcadia or Frankfort, but didn't want to get caught off shore in possible bad conditions. Will be going up again hopefully soon, and hopefully the damn fish cooperate. Good numbers in the river
  11. That sounds about right.....
  12. I also saw that this was going to be on the news, missed it, but that article is a good read. Here are the concerns that peaked my curiousity most. If there is a chance that it could happen, I think it is likely that it will: They also worry that the fish will escape and intermingle with the wild salmon population, which is already endangered. They would grow fast and consume more food to the detriment of the conventional wild salmon, the critics fear The company has several safeguards in place to quell concerns. The fish would be bred female and sterile, though a small percentage might be able to breed. They would be bred in confined pools where the potential for escape would be low. Low, to me means that it is possible. Just like the asian carp flooding out of farmers ponds and now scaring the crap out of great lakes anglers....
  13. The ones you have pictured sure do look nice...
  14. Sounds like a blast.... Nice job on the ganders! You best clean the blood off the decoy:lol:
  15. That fish is great looking. Nice and silver....mmmm yum:thumb: I haven't looked at a map but curiously wondering about how deep you were when offshore hitting the steel? Headed up this weekend a few ports north of Ludville....
  16. Thanks for the detailed report, sounds like a great time on the water with no lack of action. Pwater is always a fun time. I know they should have Octoberfest here soon.....
  17. Nice job! Good to hear you got into em! Lot of "little" baitfish in the belly, good call on the mini's:thumb:
  18. Nice job man...the one that snapped you off was a state record fish:lol: At least you made it out. Was nasty here this morning\
  19. No worries jimbobber, I do the same thing from time to time. Hey nice work off the pier on the 2/3.....
  20. WSP is an abbreviation for west side pier
  21. Nice job Mike. Hey tangledmess, what exactly do you mean to "change your angle"?
