  1. Some nice looking eyes for sure! Good way to start off. Where were you fishing? and what technique were you using?
  2. I have sat on shore too many times because of forecast-ed conditions. The morning was nowhere near the 3-5 or 4-6 depending on where you looked, it did pick up this afternoon like it was supposed to, but the morning was easy!
  3. Isn't it pretty fun when you have multiple fish on at once. We didn't have 5, but 4 was pretty fun.
  4. Was reluctant to venture west for a day of coho fishing because of weather reports. NOAA started the year where they left off last year, inaccurate forecasts. It was a nice morning on the lake. Cleared the piers and started setting lines right there on a south troll. worked from 8-30FOW finding 12-14FOW to be the most productive. HJ12 glass perch was the best of the day. Close 2nd was a firetiger storm lure. craigs steelhead super slim took a few rips 2/3 on flies, and only one of those were on a dipsy. Went 12/16 in short order. After #12 was in the cooler I think the fish disappeared. Worked the waypoints 3X a piece and NADA, worked our way out deeper and NADA, changing lures the entire time. I think the wind kicked up and shut the fish right off. Nice day out there.

  6. Yowsa... I hope that good ol' boy gets his wish. After all he did serve for the armed forces!
  7. I actually hope that steelies, browns and walleye are all in the mix for Southern LH fishery. I think it's easily sustainable. Can only imagine that some of the walleye that spill out from the bay find their way down into lake huron and it's cooler waters.
  8. :yeahthat: Good place to start, and once you figure what they want, give them lots of it
  9. This thread may shed a little light on it, give you a rough idea http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9788
  10. New Buffalo shouldn't be long now. I love that spot!!
  11. Way to finish strong Adam!
  12. Excellent news Ryan
  13. Okay, while we're on the subject. I had a 99 S - 10 with vortec 4.3L in it. Ran great. Put nothing but Royal Purple Synthetic 5w30 in after the warranty was up, sold it with 230K miles on it. I do not run it in my 4.3 marine motor, but have thought about it several times. Any thoughts good or bad?
  14. Funny how that happens She was all grins!
  15. Needed to get out of the house for a quick bite today. Talked Ashley into fishing with me today, well, didn't take much to get her to go. Went to the spot. Did find out a couple things about the lake today. 1st: there is a creek of some sort that flows into it, and there was open water around the way to the spot. 2: That creek had surprisingly really stained the water, it was amber colored. Drilled a couple of holes, found the fish and set up shop. Ashley out fished her ol' man pretty good.... Fun times. brought home about 1/2 dozen, lot of dinks today. Ice was looking pretty 'punky', and quite soft. Wouldn't be surprised if it goes quickly with the warm weather they're predicting. Here's my pride and joy!
  16. Well hello there Turbo!
  17. Keep on em Adam! Should get real good and then bang! ice will be gone.....
  18. Not sure if that's the one my buddy chad uses with some longer copper. It's a big reel, with faster retrieve and has good line capacity!
  19. Welcome to GLF, a lot of good knowledge on this site. I personally will be interested in viewing any reports/information that you can share regarding fishing on Lake Huron. See if it's better, worse or indifferent on the Canadien side......
  20. Did see a diver out in the vicinity of 1 & 2 yesterday. Thought maybe it was a gull, but it was black and white. Hard telling how long it'd been there, looked to be in "good condition" but with cold weather there's no telling.
  21. You have #s for where the carnage that is now an open hole is? Never know
  22. Hate to hear that! Glad you guys cleaned up the mess and marked it like you did! Lessor sportsmen may have just left it, I can only imagine the effort it took to get r' out.
  23. That's awesome! Looks like the day took it right out of him. I took my daughter, about the same age, a few weekends ago. It was definitely not about the fishing.
  24. It's just around the corner. Hoping to fish that way again this year You're all right WINTER IS GETTING OLD REAL QUICK
  25. Whether it be copper or leadcore. I prefer to let about 50' of backing out before I clip the line into the boards. Just my thing, let your presentation maximize it's depth.....Clipping tight to the LC or CU isn't my style.
