  1. Or Scarpace rigs. We tried them this year and they worked too
  2. Holy smokes. That's some good fishing there bud!
  3. Spin Dr - Black / Double Crush Glow trailed by the moomoo has been hands down the best meat rig for 2 years for me.
  4. MOO MOO:thumb:
  5. Nice job on a nice state land deer!
  6. I had 4 riggers, put a auxiliary motor on and put the 4th rigger in the garage. Don't miss it a bit. Matt is right, another dipsy rig is super simple. Deeper diver will get you down there. If you don't have a board, you can mount them on the gunnel. One just a bit forward of the other. Swing one out to the side and put the other one straight back.
  7. I have been happy with my penn reels. Looking to pickup some 320's for short core and maybe riggers. 209's right now. 330 will hold 250' of 45# copper and sufficient braid as backing. we got 390' of 45# CU onto a penn 340 GTI.
  8. That was super cool move on your part DD to help a stranded mariner in need. This was on my mind when we were out 21 miles last weekend. Boat is mechanically sound, but you never know when IT can happen. And you're right, this late in the year, there's no one around most of the time.
  9. Made the final voyage this fall out of Arcadia. Cold water plagued the fishing IMO. 44* all over the place, did look at satellite temps and ran west 21 miles and was in the 53* water. Ended Saturday with 3 steel. One in the cold water and a double as soon as we landed in the warm water off shore. Once out there we just couldn't get them going. Sunday was more of the same, didn't make the run. Tried fishing in tighter where there was a bit of warmer water up to 48* and got 3 nice lakers that were released. 48* didn't cover much area and we were right back into the 44* crap. Saturday was 3 & 4 color Sunday was 9 color, rigger parked deep. By far the biggest struggle of the year for the crew and I. Looking forward to some revenge next year! tight lines
  10. We were there over the summer for a wedding and road a cab out to the wedding at the marina and then hit up some bars downtown. Other than that, I wouldn't know which way to point you.
  11. I only have 45# at this point, however I think next summer we'll give the 32# a try. My best has been a 250' with a meat rig, and close in 2nd and 3rd are the 175 and the 125. You can't have just one.......
  12. I stowe my net from time to time in the vertical tube, or the main of the tree. You can use these trees for big boards too.
  13. Great job Mushy's DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumb:
  14. You want to smoke, cold smoke, and grill on the same unit. Well, I think if you're going to smoke and BBQ I would look into propane for a heat source.
  15. Sail-boaters are annoying! I have ran into the same "train of thought" on the west side of Michigan. Similar scenario. We were fishing out of Onekama, there were two sailors coming down from Frankfort. We watched them heading south for a very long time. Both came too close IMO. We ended up on an east troll heading in for the day, mind you the sailboat was on a south course, and instead of going behind us a bit as he had several miles to do this, he cut right in front of us. Forcing us to do a 90* turn. I'm not a big fan of people like this. Just remember when they're under motor power they have the same rules to follow as any other power boat.
  16. After a long week of watching webcams and dead flat calm conditions it was only fitting for us to get some wind and waves over the weekend. Fish Saturday out of Manistee, went straight out and got on a north troll, didn't take long and rods were popping. Mixed bag, mostly kings and coho. Nice 3yo about 13-14#s. Spoons and flies were working. Hypnotist on a mag diver 140 back was the best rig of the day. Then the spoons with the oranges and the blues. Riggers down to 100 and leadcore to 3 colors took fish. The fish were all over in the water column. Finished 12/20 Sunday headed out of Arcadia. Went to my spot and started popping fish pretty quick. Today was even more of a differntiation in the water column, caught fish from 125' down on a rigger up to a 3 color again. Another good mix, but Sunday's consisted with a mix of steel in too. Finished 13/25 Fireball, double orange crush, hello darlin, shanster, big paddle white fly, hypnotist, moo moo meat rig, and a handful of others that I can't remember. Probably should have had more fish, but we had some shakers on lines a few times that were dragging for too long. Pesky little fish. Had to keep a few, as there was no way they would have made it. Boat traffic was murder. 1 boat fished around us, and by around us I mean was about 2 miles from us, on Saturday. And then on Sunday I saw one other boat the entire day, and they were no where near us......
  17. Great job Dick! Keep after em when the weather allows....won't be much longer and it will be time to put the boat away. Those are some great numbers of hits!!!!
  18. Where do you net the fish with that setup?
  19. Awesome. That coho is master angler status! And that king is just a slob.......
  20. Sounds like a deal to me. Be some of the best money you spend on that boat, I got mine and I LOVE EM:thumb:
  21. Ace high plugs get changed right out of the box and don't see the water. Too many times they have bent on us in the past. For the money spent on these lures you'd think the manufacturer would use a quality component
  22. Sounds right on to me! Have fun
  23. Something I do for leadcore though is..... I keep extra on the boat. I may not want to run a 3 color or a 5 color so I will take that off and rap it securely around a piece of PVC until I want to use it, and run something else instead of those lengths:thumb:
