I would love to SLIP my boat, however due to the infrequent opportunity to fish, it's not money well spent, although it would be extremely convenient. What I have been in the habit of doing for the past several years is seeking out a facility that I am comfortable enough with to keep my boat, on it's trailer @ the facility. So when I'm fishing the bay, I hook up to the trailer and I'm ready to dip'r in the water after 1/2 hour of rigging or so. I have also done this up near Frankfort for salmon. It keeps the constant wear and tear of trailering down a little more, and saves me a few bucks on the transit. This year I pulled the boat to Au Gres early in the summer, and just recently pulled it back home. And in between that I just zip up, hook up and go fish.

It's always good to get out with a couple of good friends. Scotty and I always seem to have a great time, reasonable conditions, and I can't remember the last time we didn't catch fish. At the end of the day, it ain't worth doin' if ya can't have fun, and there was no shortage of that this weekend. Going to be taking a look around for some longer poles with the good feel like yours had Scott. Proof is in the pudding, when I used your 2nd rod for a bit, I was able to boat more fish than I was with what UL I have. It's good to figure things like that out, as we're always looking to improve the catch! the boat's home and ready for a bath and trip to the warehouse until spring. Can't wait to get after it again next summer

Not a fan of mono for backing, braid or fireline. If you find an issue with tying with either, splice in a segment of mono between the braid/fireline and the copper. That is just my personal take on it....different strokes for different folks. I find you can get higher test line and put more on the spool compared to mono. And, it doesn't matter what you do with the coppers. 100, 200, 300, 450, 600's....whatever you end up with, you're going to eventually have the thought that you want/need something else as well. Just seems we can never have enough

A few friends and I have been tossing around that same idea. Can't confirm nor deny if that's actually factual. But IMO it makes sense that some of these tanks could easily be 5YO fish

That is a broad statement. Change in water temp is a factor in scum lines. Could be current as well. Typically I have looked for water near 50* for fall fishing. Find the right conditions and the fish will be there. I experienced some lights out fall fishing in the past. Numbers well into 25+ hits in an outing. If you find the fish, don't go far, just keep turning on them when you run out of fish and work that area. Lots of oranges, and lots of spoons have treated me well in the past.

Thank you! Went back out this past Saturday on FM2s rig and 3 of us put 100 in the cooler! been so busy I didn't post a pic.........I sure do love fishing those perch. When they're biting it is a lot of fun! One more trip on the books for the last weekend in September & then it's time for boat hibernation

Years ago I think this likely would have been my approach. Unfortunately these days (older and wiser...maybe?), it would likely only cause more complications in the matter. What goes around comes around is what I'm hoping. Treatment that I am receiving is as low as it gets!

Thanks Edb! I submitted my contract with another company this morning, will be operating tomorrow under a new vendor of services. I did have a lawyer look over the contract, everything is on the up and up! Regarding the issue of delayed payment from the previous contract, my lawyer indicated that the company is in breach of contract. I am going to do what I can to facilitate being paid promptly as spelled out in the initial contract. Worst case, I will have a need to litigate for settlement/payment of monies owed! This is not what I want to do, but I can't just sit back and let these guys try and pull this crap.

Well, it's been a long time coming......I am striking out on my own, and will be contracting with a new firm providing me logistics services. I have everything set to go, except for an office. It is something for the time being that I can do out of my house fairly simply, however, I find it much more conducive of being productive to be in an office environment. I have been contracting with a company for the past 5 years. As an independent contractor my book of business is just that, MINE! Last Thursday I left the office as usual to pickup my daughter from school. Upon the commute home I had a few e mails come in. When I arrived at my home I planned on logging on to return the mail and shoot clients a few simple rates. Well, I was unable to log in to e mail or the TMS (transportation management system). I texted one of the owners of the company I contracted with. My phone rang within seconds. The two of them had me on speaker phone when one of them broke the news to me that they were exercising their right to terminate the contract effective immediately. I was in complete shock, yet at the same time, I couldn't put a move like this past these 2 guys, as we have been unable to see eye to eye for an extended period of time. So, to add insult to injury, they informed me that they were going to with hold my commissions until my clients are paid in full. They claimed responsibility for more $ than what they're actually responsible for. Completely disappointed with these two knuckleheads. It's a good thing that I've been smart and put some money away, they're holding onto $6000 of commissions that I'm entitled to. That is, if they decide to pay it. I had been putting my feelers out to find services from a competing company for some time, and had actually found a good fit for me. Contract is on my desk, going to sign it and send it in, and hope to be up and running by the beginning of next week. I don't know much in the ways of contract law. I left a voice mail at the attorney general's office today, in hopes of a return call shedding some light on my legal rights, and the obligations of the company I was contracting with. What I am looking for is the following: Does anyone on this site have any knowledge of my rights to payment of services provided and profits earned in a timely manner? Or, is this something that I will just need to wait to happen? My fear is that they too will be moving to another provider of services, under a new business name, which would leave me without any recourse for the monies earned mentioned previous. I have a fantastic wife, who has been on board since the 1st time I told her I am looking to go out on my own. 3 wonderful children that are the reason I am so driven in my business to succeed, and the reason for EVERYTHING! The 2 business owners and I were friends before we were doing business together. The one fella said that this was just business, I beg to differ, it most definitely is personal as well. I'm keeping a cool head about this. My intent is to get in touch with people that know the law, I don't want to make any threats. What I want to do is let them know what the law is, and let them know that if they don't do what they should I will take it as far as I need. Good people are fewer and further between. Keep the good ones close, and the others...well......who has time for BULL$hit? I know I sure don't. This little situation will set me back for a brief period of time, but in the end with all my hard work I will come out on top If anyone here has any insight, or experience, or even if you're interested in talking a little more about this I am happy to talk about it, and just as happy to listen to any input that you good folks may have Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Fall fishing can be phenomenal . Search around here and you will find some great info on fall big water fishing. Steelies, coho & kings.....on the right days you can barely keep up with the action. Short cores, coppers, dipsys, and riggers will all get the job done. one of the best parts of fall fishing is that there is virtually no traffic. I remember 2 years ago running 21 miles offshore to the surface temp break to get the fish. Water temp was huge in deciding where to fish. Good luck....keep us posted on your efforts, we love to hear about it

Boltman, looks like you've had a heck of a time this summer! That's a sweet rig! Looks like you're living the dream. The fishing will come with time, as I've found experience is the best teacher, and that takes time.

You're more than welcome too, however, I will need to either catch more fresh perch, or you're going to settle for walleye for dinner We gobbled it up last night, and I have lunch for 2 days to reheat... Those perch are my favorite to eat.....

Took the opportunity Saturday to hit the bay in search of perch! Buddy Brent and FishingMachine2 hopped on the Husky Jerk for an adventure. Despite a mediocre wind/weather report we headed out to perch waters. We anchored down on a waypoint that has been producing some tasty perch. Didn't take long and we were into some action, WHITE BASS ACTION!....Mixed in with the white bass was some sheep, some maybe legal walleye and perch. With the unstable weather the bite was tough. We fished all day and kept about 40 perch. Some nice perch in the mix, along with some dinks that buried the hook and had no chance for survival, so they went into the cooler too. FM2 really had the hot hand for sheepshead , he was showing us how it is done! Very fun day with some good people, don't get much better than that.... Some of the smaller perch were inhaling the hooks with little to no chance of survival, they cleaned up just fine along with the larger fish Baked some perch in the oven, rolled in flour, rolled in olive oil, seasoned with paprika and parmesan cheese...and it was fantastic. Scott tied into another sheep! . Battered and the finished product

I experienced some of my best diver action with long leaders, 10-15', and at that point it was time to learn the trick to handline an angry fish the last few feet. Point being it increased the hits on my divers.
