  1. Excellent job on the fish! Thanks for sharing with us!
  2. 20-25'. My, new to me, vexilar fl18 with auto zoom really helped me out once the fish went tight to the bottom. But, before that, they were aggressively feeding, which makes catching them a breeze. Before i was done buttoning up the new clam 6 pack mag 1660 my buddy who took me to this spot was putting fish on the ice. There was maybe another 6-12 people fishing there too. I did try muddy bay on Friday night, and i was NOT on the fish. That is only 5' in there, some dudes fishing near me cleaned up though. Love the early ice bite
  3. Made it out with my buddy on Wixom. Fished Friday not and didn't do worth a darn. Headed to a different spot on Saturday morning, Set up my new clam 6 pack and got cozy. We were into the fish immediately and experienced a very aggressive early bite. About 1030-1100 the fish went belly to the bottom and began to light lip making catching a wee more difficult. We ended the day about 1230 with 45 keepers, mainly crappie and a few blue gills to go along with them. Ice was 4-5". Good luck and be safe
  4. nicely done Ed! Looks like a great meal about to be had:thumb:
  5. I broke them all too
  6. Nice vid!
  7. Have only checked one spot last week, wasn't quite ready. With the cold that we have now, ice should take shape pretty quickly. You guys use your heads and be safe.
  8. I have the same issues with my families....I have 3 kids, who I can't seem to find gifts for because everything out there is the same CRAP they already have. I value the time we spend with their grandparents more than the gifts that people think they need to buy for them. IT goes the other way too, my parents and hers, really don't need anything. Typically we buy a gift certificate to a golf course for my folks, and for hers we buy a gift certificate to a restaurant we know they love that they're likely not going to spend their own money at. Seems as time has passed, the importance of the season has become lost. I for one, don't need anything, or really want anything from others. I love the little gifts from my kids, and of course from my wife, and hope that she loves them too. But the gifts from the kids make the kids extremely happy just to give daddy something, which is a real treat to see how proud excited they get.
  9. Sounds like a great day to me!
  10. Hey everyone, I hope everyone here enjoys a fantastic thanksgiving! GO LIONS! I know I am thankful for plenty!
  11. That looks like it would be a fun time! Not to mention good eating!
  12. I did this with one of my reels. I simply put a slotted screwdriver in the guide to OPEN it up just a hair. Worked for my needs and haven't experienced any issues.
  13. Good to see someone is able to get out! Nice job thanks for sharing
  14. Looks like a fantastic time on the trout stream!
  15. I'm ready for some ice action. I have 3 children 3-6 years of age, picked up a clam 6 pack that I can't wait to share some time with the kids in.
  16. Great looking buck! And that's just the way it seems to go....shoulda been here yesterday....
  17. That's a great reel, if I was in the market for yet ANOTHER reel...I'd be all over this.
  18. I have 4, took one off and only fish with 3. I can fish with 4, but with the kicker motor it just seems to clog up the back of the boat. I like to have a nice clear chute to net a fish in. Since taking 1 off my boat I can remember a time when I wished I had the 4th rigger on, however, I bet at some point in time there would be an advantage to #4, as mentioned earlier, mostly when the bite is VERY DEEP!.
  19. Ordered an oil change pump yesterday, and found a good deal on a bilge pump. Waiting on delivery and I'm ready to get'r done!
  20. This will be the first time for me to winterize mine solo. My buddy who has been doing it (for a great price) moved out of state. He rigged up an old bilge pump, hooked to a battery for power, and connected a hose from the pump to earmuffs. Then we would put anitfreeze in a giant storage tote, put the pump in the deepest corner and turn it on. Filled the motor right up. Of course I will be pulling the petcocks and draining as much water as possible before filling. I don't have an extra bilge pump, so I will likely do it the old fashioned way. Pull the outdrive and grease the knuckle and splines, and fog too. Along with a simple oil change. Just need to find the time to do it
  21. Nice job! There are a few combos that I just can't have enough of...one is a flasher fly combo almost always my deep rigger!
  22. This is a no wake zone! Welcome aboard...good group of people here.....
  23. That meat looks fantastic! Nice job and thanks for the report
  24. Must be getting close to that time! Nice job on the FEEEESH!
