Went out on the bay Saturday morning for a few hours. I could not believe how calm it was for the 4th day of February. It's the type of day you would be dreaming of in the summer, not the winter. Anyway, water was very dirty and a lot of debris still floating out there. Drove around for a while trying to find cleaner water. Fished out in front of the Kawkawlin river and had no luck. Lots of ice flows still and a lot of boats were moving around. Only talked to one guy who had any fish. Tom

I love the port of Manistee. However, I would really like to fish Frankfort sometime. Too bad it's nearly a three hour drive. Traverse City is right up there too. Anytime you can go on east bay and be able to fish days were you would be blown off at other ports is fine by me.

I have a 2004 196 Starcraft Fishmaster with a 125 saltwater mercury on it. It has an 8' beam and has a lot of room to do almost anything. I usually fish three, (most comfortable) but have had four fishing. I truely like the ease in which this boat trailers, sets up and most importantly fishes... Tom

I don't know if you can call this catch on Lake MI, but I was fishing the lower end of the Big Manistee on September 30, 2004 and landed a 26.6lb king up river from Insta Launch using a black/gold hot-n-tot. Chrome as could be! Tom

I think every time we fished out of Manistee last year we caught at least one fish that was marked up. The funny thing is the last time I was there in late August, we boated a nice fish with a lamprey still clinging on. We brought the fish in to the boat and it was like the lamprey knew it was in the net. It released itself and slithered out the drain hole in the transom before we could get to it.

The one thing I tend to notice for instance I see a tanker truck filling up the gas stations tanks and the price is say 2.20. The very next day the price goes up 15-20 cents, but I am paying more for the same gas that was filled in the gas station tanks the day before. That's got to be a huge profit from this type of behavior...

What I don't understand is how it can be raised to 2.49 on Monday and then by Tuesday, go back down to 2.27? This summer we will see prices well above 3.00.
