  1. Great way to end the season. I am sad and happy to see the ice go. The boat is ready to rock on a moments notice.
  2. I once tried to feed a coon by hand. Not a great idea! Thing was like a blur. Guess I wasn't too bright @ 10 years old.
  3. I tell my wife about all the purchases. She just says whatever. When she gets mad that I bought something, "I just say we talked about it and you said it was cool". I do a lot of side jobs that bring in $$$ also. Side job money pretty much pays for all my fun/toys/hobbies. That makes purchases easier to explain also. I'm hoping my 3 and 5 year old girls will want to be my first and second mates when the time comes.
  4. I will just use the 8's for a while and see how it goes. Thanks for all the comments and such. I have the essentials now, just have to pick up more stuff as it is needed.
  5. When I got my boat I used the cheap stuff. My 90 horse merc 2 stroke smoked alot and was hard starting. I switched to the quicksilver oil and have been much happier. My boat is a lot happier too. I won't use anything else. The price is worth it in my opinion.
  6. The money hasn't been too much of a big deal. Almost all of it came from a 1 hour sidejob. Should have probably been used to finish the bathroom I am adding on:). Just kinda got sick of walleye fishing all the time. I wanted to be set up for anything. Should be a blast. Guess I should look for some used 10's. Hopefully my gunnels can take the 10's!
  7. I will most like be fishing Pt. Sanilac. The reason I got the 8's was because the max weight for the Walker Lake Rangers is 10 lbs. I played it safe and got the 8's. My reasoning is that I could deal with the blowback by just lowering it down more to hit my desired depth. I am going to start by running 2 dr's and 2 dipsys, nothing straight off the back yet. Is my reasoning off? I have no problem buying some 10's, but if I can manage with the 8's I will just use them.
  8. Well I would like to say I will be fishing kings, but I will be fishing Lake Huron so kings will just be a bonus:). I am prob gonna get the walkers from a local Clio bait/outdoor shop. I was thinking clear, but wasn't sure if another attractor would be a plus. Thanks guys
  9. Thanks! Do you use the 107's? I will let you know when I am headin out.
  10. One of my best memories fishing on Lake Huron when I was a kid was our boat catching a huge catfish. We were fishing out of Harrisville around 1988 and hooked into a monster cat in 120ish fow. I remember how crazy it was in the boat and I was the billy club man. It was so big that when in the big slamon cooler its head and tail were hanging out on each side of the cooler. I think it was by far the biggest fish I saw boated. Let's see some of the cats you've boated from the great lakes.
  11. I thought fishing in general was an expensive gig, but big water fishing takes things to a whole new level:eek: I hada $50 gift card to Gander Mountain, so the family went this morning to do some shopping. Here is a pic of what I bought. How did I do? I bought: 8"SD white crush glow 8" dreamweaver paddle mtn dew/crush glow on white 8" dreamweaver paddle blue bubble/crush glow on white dreamweaver action fly blue bubble dreamweaver action fly blue dolphin gander mountain brand blue dolphin spoon gander mountain brand caramel dolphin spoon 10 pack of bechhold #6 snap swivels with piggybacks and the girls had to have some jerky and gummy bears:D I still need to buy some walker deeper diver dipsies, but gander only had luhr jenson dipsy divers, mono for dipsy reel backing, 30-40 lb braid for dipsy, 40 lb mono for leaders. After that I should be ready to atleast hit the water. Below is what I have bought since December to get started: *2 Walker Lake Ranger manual downriggers (came with 2 free walker downrigger rods) $200 *2 8 lb downrigger balls $40 * 2 penn 309 reels used $50 *2 17" betrs tracks $90 *2 berts ratcheting rod holders $90 *2 okuma 30d convector reel/rod combos $170 * used flashers, spoons, flies, and plugs(steal of a deal) $40 *2 traxstech downrigger swivels for tracks $110 * stuff bought today minus jerky and gummies $55 I probably have another $100 for the things I need. I just hope I get out enough to make it all worth while. I can't wait to see a diver rod pop and start screaming:ps-020:
  12. Great job on the fish guys!
  13. I am new to big water fishing on L. Huron and need to get 3-4 walker deeper divers. Just wondering the colors and sizes that I should get. Plan to fish mostly Pt. Sanilac and Harbor Beach and an occasional trip to the west side. Thanks guys.
  14. Is that one of the pro trolls that is offered from Michigan Stinger with their custom paint? Looks like a winning combo to me. Pinks are king in the summer for Saginaw Bay walleyes. I am taking my wife and 2 young girls to gander mountain to do some shopping tomorrow. I will post up what they pick out. I bet it will look like what you bought:) P.S. I am only buying from gander because I received a few gift cards for my b-day:)
  15. even better thanks!
  16. I am going to be running 2 downriggers and 2 braid dipsy setups off my 16.5 Lund. I have a few questions about using snap swivels/duolocks. When you guys attach the dipsy divers to the line, the flashers/dodgers, and the flies leader to the flasher, are you using snap swivels/ duolocks on everything to make it easy to change setups quickly? Or, do you tie directly? I guess I really would like to hear a step by step of exactly how you have a rod all set up. Thanks everyone!
  17. Awesome!! Thanks for the info.
  18. Hey Bill, I was looking at the Flintstone spoon website and could not find pink watermelon. I saw green watermelon, blue watermelon, and silver watermelon. Could you describe the spoon to me? I have some flintstone spoons and was going to pick up a few more. Thanks!
  19. I have a humminbird 757 color combo and can switch between gps and sonar, instead of just having a split screen.
  20. I hope this is ok to do this on here. Cabelas has yo-zuri crystal minnows on sale in the bargain cave online for 2.99 each. Regular price is 10.99. I know a lot of guys use them when the fish are in shallow on Lake Huron in the spring. Thought I would share the info. I picked up 4 myself.
  21. Well that didn't take long. I ended up putting it on the Flint Craigslist and sold it to a guy who has a slip in Augre. Made him a deal he couldn't refuse.
  22. d&b fishing and http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/
  23. Sounds good to me:). I will list it on craigslist over on the west side and see what happens.
  24. I was thinking of selling it for $100. That would be a win win for me and buyer
  25. I did some side work for a coworker and got a bunch of stuff in return. One of the things I got was a lockable fiberglass dock box. It is about 5 feet long, 2 1/2 feet tall, and 2 1/2 feet deep. Looks like it is in great shape. It is white and should clean up nice. Just wondering what it would be worth if I sold it? Was thinking about using it for our place on houghton lake, but think it is too big for our dock. Thanks!
