    I have an 18’ aluminum that had an 8 hp short shaft for many years. The boat has an OMC auxiliary mount for raising and lowering the motor. This year I replaced the 8 hp short shaft with a new 6 hp long shaft and I wish I would have done it years ago. The prop stays in the water in rough seas where the short shaft didn’t. JFWIW

    I hope to drag the boat over from the West side of the state and do some shallow water trolling for eyes mid to late April. When does Luna Pier open for the season? I usually go there around the 4th of July. Thanks from a newbie.
