  1. Nice job R-Turn!
  2. Way to put the smack down on them. Thanks for the fish porn.
  3. Nice job Richard. Too bad you didn't get more of those big ones in.
  4. Nice job Paul! Welcome to the website.
  5. We made the trip from Muskegon to GH for ice cream before. Let me tell you.....by the time I added up the cost of boat gas for a round trip from Muskegon to GH, that was some expensive ice cream.
  6. Welcome to the website Keith! If you look through the reports section, you will find reports from Holland to Whitehall. Read through those reports, and you should be able to catch fish in the same depths at Grand Haven as what you see in those reports. Perhaps a few of the people who fish GH will chime in and help out.
  7. Welcome aboard Heidi! Lots of GREAT people here sharing fishing information. If you have questions about anything, dont be afraid to ask. Mike
  8. Welcome to the website Lee. I fish out a 27' Amberjack also. If you need anything, let out a yell! Mike
  9. We are at $250 now. Still have $550 to go. I am accepting donations till 7 Aug. Send me a PM if you would like to donate.
  10. I had issues with netting them also. One flopped out, and another was knocked off. The fish we lost yesterday, I knocked off with the net.
  11. Curt, You will see lots of different ways to run them. I personally attach them next to the leader, then let the lead out. Everyone always talks about the "snake-like" effect of lead core. By attaching them next to the leader, I am taking away from this so called "snake-like" effect. I have not seen an adverse effect by running the way I run them, and my catch ratio has not gone down any. The only time I will run them in the middle of the lead core is when I am running multiple dive bombs on the same side. Then I keep the same distance from the boards, and will use a one ounce less dive bomb on the next board out. Check out these 3 posts for more information. How To Run A Dive Bomb Running Multiple Dive Bombs on The Same Side Dive Bombs Depths Achieved
  12. Holly crap John! Nice feesh!
  13. Losing all of those fish today was not the only bad thing that happened. We had just passed the bridge and I started taking care of the rods and gear. Someone else(not Hunter) was driving the boat, and I was down in the cabin putting things away, and not paying attention to where the boat was. Next thing I know......I feel the boat hitting something. Yep....We hit the sand bar by the boat launch. I ran up stopped the boat, trimmed both out drives up, and backed back off the bar. After I docked the boat, I trimmed both outdrives up and checked the props. Luckily, we did not do any damage to both props.
  14. It was a beautiful day on the lake today! We put in 3 rows of corn, 2 rows of beans, and 1 row of carrots today. Please stop by my famers market and get your fresh veggies. Made it out a little earlier today then yesterday. Set the first line at 6:45am, grabbed the second rod, and the first rod was hooked up. Had the fish in the net, the net out of the water with the fish in it, and the fish flopped out and was gone! *%#&@$^ anti fouling net! I will/would NEVER recommend an anti-fouling net, to anyone. Fish hang up on the netting, and do not slide into the basket when you lift the net, resulting in fish flopping out. We ended the day 5 for 12(2 kings, 2 steelhead, 1 lake trout). 6 of the 7 fish we lost within 10' of the back of the boat, and all were nice kings. 3 wrapped in wire divers, 1 flopped out of the net, 1 was knocked off with the net(I was not on the net), and 1 had the hook harness come apart. The other fish was a steelhead on a slider(rigger was parked at 60') that launched like a missle. We were hooked up for about 5 seconds with this fish. We set down in 65FOW and immediately hooked up with the first fish on a rigger parked at 45'. As soon as the the first rod went, I thought.....this is going to be a good day! We proceded to play catch and release all day. We worked 65FOW for another half hour before I pointed the boat West. The rest of the fish we got/lost came from 80-105FOW. The down temp was 51.5 degrees 45' down. This is what worked for us today. Rigger parked at 45 with a Mother of Pearl Ace-Hi.(Went 3 times) Slider 10' above the cannonball on a rigger parked at 60' with a Stray size Craigs X-Mas Reverse.(Went twice) 11" Double Pearl Prochip 11 with a Siggs Rigs Brushed Stainless trophy fly parked at 70'. 11" Chartruse and gold Prochip 11 with a Siggs Rigs Green Apply trophy fly on a wire diver set on 1.5 with 175' of line out. 11" Blue with Blue holo tape Prochip 11 with a Blue & Pearl Crinkle trophy fly on a wire diver set on 1.5 with 210' of line out. Stingray size blue dolphin on the rigger parked at 60'. Stingray size Dirty White Boy on a 1/2 core with a 4oz dive bomb. Sorry......I was having a bad day and did not write down the baits, so I don't remember the other baits that went. We pulled lines at 11:00am and headed in.
  15. It was 2-3' waves all day with an occasional 4' wave mixed in with it. We picked up half of our fish on a North troll(with the waves), and half of them on a South Troll(into the waves).
  16. My family and I like it cooked on the grill like a steak. I heat the grill on a low to medium temp(around 300 degree f), and put down aluminum foil on the grill. I add a little bit of olive oil on the foil, then lay the fillets on the foil and sprinkle, garlic salt, lawry salt, and lemon pepper on the fish, and close the cover. After 5 minutes, I flip the fillets, and spinkle garlic salt, lawry salt, lemon pepper, and parmessian cheese. Close the cover again, and cook for 5 more minutes. Flip the fillets again, and spinkle parmessian cheese on them again. Close the grill and cook for 3 more minutes. When I fillet the fish, I also remove the skin from the fillet. I trim/remove the brown/fatty material that is between the skin and the meat. I then cut each fillet into 4 or 5 pieces, depending on the size of the fish. A little extra time spent prepping the fish goes a long ways at the table. There is a REALLY GOOD Bayou Blast recipe in the recipe section here if you like cajon style cooking. I cook the fish the same way with this, but use the Bayou Blast seasoning instead of the garlic salt, lawry salt, lemmon pepper, and parmessian cheese.
  17. I was thinking the same thing.
